If they could just turn it down for a start we might be able to get some atmosphere going inside the ground pre-match.

Also, I wouldn't have to shout at my daughter so I can be heard!

That and a more suitable version of WYS pre-match, not Jersey Budd.

They turned it down towards the back end of last season following quite a few similar complaints. It was definitely noticeable.

Hopefully they've done some work on the whole speaker system in the off season given that it hasn't been upgraded since we moved from Filbo.

Progress...

Any chance you could ask if we could have a Scoreflash brought back on the scoreboard (if it can cope with that).

We used to have it at Filbo and I reckon it would serve two purposes,

1, hopefully stop people staring into their phones so much and

2, always felt that in crunch games when a score used to be put up at Filbo on the Scoreflash it always used to get the crowd buzzing that little bit more.

The next FCC meeting is next week, if anybody has any issues that they want me to raise then please let me know by Tuesday evening so that it can be added to the agenda for Thursday.

I'd like you to ask about the removal of seat exchange with the new season tickets. Although there was no huge increase in price with the new season tickets some of the benefits have been removed (inc the televised home games initiative we had last season), this being a particularly useful one for ST holders who can't make every game.

I know that Spurs for example do not have a seat exchange but will sell your seat for you and give you the money back if the match sells out but when I emailed fanzone it seemed that nothing had been put in place to help supporters who miss a game here and there. It's important that as ST holders we push for the maintenance of as many benefits as possible regardless of what division we are in.

Can we move the family stand over a couple of blocks like someone has suggested in other threads? P & P1 as normal blocks and the family stand from P2 around to A Block?

To achieve what exactly? Better atmosphere?

If people put as much effort in trying to get like minded people who want to sing all game in the same area as they do with fantasy ideas like swapping the family stand with the kop or moving the family stand a few blocks there wouldn't be a 'problem' with the atmosphere

Clear labelling of concourse foods as being halal or not?

Can answer this one for you already - they removed it simply because we went up. I think it's understandable, for example someone conveniently may be 'unable' to make a game midweek in winter against undesirable opposition, but would then be able to swap for a ticket against one of the big boys.

I will raise the point about how Spurs do it, I see no reason why we couldn't do something similar.

This is more me as my eyesight is terrible but I sit in the KOP and I can't see the big screen at the other end of the ground, and I can't see the time/time passed on the screen closest to me because the roof is obscuring the top of the screen. Maybe place the time at the bottom so a few more thousand of people can see?

Please ask them to fix up the website the new current one is clumsy, slow  and unpleasant, and also look into their overseas postage charges from lcfc direct.

hahaha, as i type this i cannot even get onto lcfcdirect.   :nigel:

I thought it was going to get changed a couple of months ago anyway?!

I thought it was going to get changed a couple of months ago anyway?!

Still the same contract with the same company, I suppose they could just cancel it altogether, but it would be pricey.

The initial switch was with regards to LCFC Direct, so there is hope for the main page, as well.

I've been banging on about a new, slicker and simpler website for a while, to be honest. And I'd still welcome a change with open arms (see Manchester City's site for a great reference).

Two points that you could bring forward for me, Chloë:

a) Are there any plans of creating smarter queues in the concourse before matches and during half-time?

I know there's an element of safety concern playing into the equation, but there's got to be a simpler and more comfortable way of guiding people to the food distribution and use the space in the concourse more effectively. It can get crammed at times.

I'm thinking movable barriers here, like the ones they have at airports, for instance. Some older grounds have some sort of solid, installed "gate", too (but I don't see that as the future).

b) What is the club doing in the foreseeable future to improve and promote the area outside the ground? Surely, there must be ways of including it in the overall LCFC matchday experience.

Look at Bournemouth or Brighton and what they've done adjacent to their respective stadium with banners, flags, statues, murals and the likes.

As for the food selection issue, I do hope the club will hold serious talks with Compass soon enough, because

a) More often than not, they run out of hot food (hotdogs and burgers in particular)

b) The current selection isn't the healthiest - I don't mind burgers and hotdogs, they're great on the day. But Compass are to offer a wider variety (including some healthier options).

c) For the items they have on offer, the value isn't really great.

I think they seriously need competition - in hindsight, a ten-year deal is a terrible ordeal for the customer, because there is no incentive for the caterer to alter anything on the menu.

Posted

Ah I see. Thought the whole site was getting revamped.

Think the site does need to be Premier League quality. Have seen Man City's before and it would be a great example to follow.

Posted

Problem with the catering is that we initially signed a 10 year deal with Compass and we're still not even half way through it! Costs to exit the contract are substantial so we may be stuck with them for the foreseeable future.

There's always chat about the catering at these meetings so if there is any change then I will let you know.

Have you done the supporters survey? There's a lot of questions about catering in that, and I imagine the feedback will be unanimously negative.

Fair point. But are there any standards / competencies clauses in that contract we can beat them over the head with? On the occasions I take my kids with me, it usually involves a hot dog, (mainly as a bribe to get my 11 yr old daughter to come with us), and the incompetency of the system is truly something to behold. Three hundred hot-dogs served and each order comes as a total surprise to the person operating the kiosk. LEAN would laugh their heads off at this outfit. But surely  it can't be maximising profitability because many people must surely just decide not to bother as the benefits(???!!) of a dirty-dog are far outweighed by the negatives of standing in a queue and missing match-time after half-time. Simple decision process - don't bother with food.

Posted

Yes and included the same points there.

I would love to know the cost of exiting the contract compared to what they could then get mcds for example to pay in rent for say 2 units in each stand.

I just reckon the competition side of it would drive standards up.

Going off on one now - forgive me! But has anyone ever been to Borough Market at London Bridge? Amazing place. Food is absolutely stunning in variety, quality and price-point. Someone earlier suggested a beer tent outside the ground. How about adding a couple more and inviting some local artisan food specialists to come and do something similar to the BM experience? Could really make a trip to the ground something very different for fans from all clubs. Something unique. Maybe even special ?

The beer tent outside the ground would make every game where the sun came out a straight choice for me, down the ground, they did it a while back and had a fun fair for the kids, we spent a good hour or so before the game, out in the car park.

Normally we roll up as the game is about to ko.

No brainer for the club if you ask me.

yeah i believe they do something similar at liverpool, too. they buy your ticket back off you for a %age of the match day price and take the price they paid for it off your ST renewal price. then resell it so the club still make money from it. so you can't go to spurs at home, tickets are 35 quid, the club buy your ST off you for 25 quid and resell it for 35 to a non STH. They make £10 more every time compared to your seat being empty, someone else gets to go and fill the ground, you get £25 off your next ST bill instead of just wasting a game. everyone's a winner.

would work cos as has been said it would stop 1000 people just not bothering with stoke at home and all getting their mates a free ticket to arsenal at home or whatever but means people (like me!) wouldn't be losing out because there might be midweek games they can't get to. i think i'll be able to give my ticket away to someone in my family who'd use it if i wasn't able to go but think it'd be a good idea to get something like that going.

When it worked  Scoreflash could be pivotal in the run-in???

Well if they do it. It has to be missing the odd letter.

Here's a run down of the main bits of the meeting tonight, not everything but the full minutes will be issued by the Club at some point soon.

Memberships

Details should be released by the end of next week, and before individual matchday tickets go on sale.

Current members will get priority to purchase membership before new applicants.

Unlikely that there will be a large amount available given the small number of matchday tickets that are going to be left over.

We were given no indication of prices.

Away Tickets

Priority system will remain the same (i.e. points from 2013/14 season will be carried forward, and points from 2014/15 will be added as season progresses)

Under PL rules the club has to spend a minimum of £200,000 on away fans and helping to reduce their costs. No firm plans in place yet, but this is likely to be split across subsidising travel and ticketing, as the club acknowledges that not every supporter will use the official Club transport.

We are in discussions with other clubs to try and negotiate reciprocal pricing deals.

New Kit

Planned launch date is 19th July for the home kit only.

Away kit (and third kit) will go on sale 1-2 weeks before the season begins.

There will be a kit teaser and more information released on the website tomorrow.

Catering

One for Dr Singh - there is currently no Halal food offered in the stadium.

There are plans to get more food units in place around the outside of the stadium in order to cope with increased attendances.

I asked about possibility of a beer tent/marquee - this is unlikely to go ahead given that it would take up car park spaces which are needed.

Stadium Expansion

Certainly no plans this year. May be a possibility if we become an established Premier League team and are selling out every game.

Cost would be c. £20m to add an additional 6-8,000 seats.

Stadium Improvements

Planned spend is c. £6m. Few things that have been done:

New floodlights (£500k)

20 new camera positions around the ground

New gantry area at the back of the East Stand as we have to provide 15 commentary positions for overseas broadcasters (we currently only have 3 spaces in the East Stand).

Electronic advertising boards

Hospitality boxes and areas are all being refurbished

Reception is going to be rebuilt including trophy cabinet when the Championship trophy will be housed

New training ground pitches (£800k)

Sound system - the computer has been replaced which should improve the sound quality. Will be some teething problems at the start of the season given that the acoustics are different when the stadium is full.

Matchday

Goal music - no plans to scrap or change the goal music

Scoreflash during the game - this was thought of as a good idea, the Club are checking whether they can do it a) as per the PL regulations and b) technically

There is an opportunity for games to be beamed back if needed

Supporter Survey

6,159 responses received (3,981 in the prior season)

Biggest issue was with catering (only 54% happy with food options, only 33% happy with food prices)

There will be a separate media survey in a few weeks to discuss website and social media

FCC

This was the last meeting of the current membership group, applications will be opened shortly for anyone wishing to apply to become a member. There will be a couple of members kept on from the current crop to give some continuity.

Oh, and season cards should be here by the end of July. They're coming from Israel of all places.

Posted

So if I've read that right away ticket priority drops the 2012/13 seasons points, and restarts next season with the points you gained last season only?

Then adding on again as season progresses.

Yeah, as far as I understand it. So exactly the same as it was at the start of last season. Full information will be sent out in the next couple of weeks.
