Raj Posted 1 January 2014 Posted 1 January 2014 No use having a squad if your not going to use em.Still a good enough team to beat millwall!
Stan Posted 1 January 2014 Posted 1 January 2014 Clever team selection for me. Rest plenty, can extend that rest for Stoke, if required, and have a lot of fresh and rejuvenated players for Derby. I also think last season we ran out of options to change things in the slump at the end of the season as so many players hadn't played due to continuous same team selection. For me, you have to play these squad players at some point as we will need them before the season is out. Seconded.
Bryn Posted 1 January 2014 Posted 1 January 2014 King and Hammond still a very solid midfield and both will be fresh and hungry.

The Horse's Mouth Posted 1 January 2014 Posted 1 January 2014 Was hoping Waghorn would start, but I think GTF's goal against Bolton pretty much guaranteed him a start.
Benji Posted 1 January 2014 Posted 1 January 2014 Why oh why drop Drinkwater and James who have been awesome?? Hammond has shown nothing yet, and you never know which Andy King you're going to get. Maybe something to do with them both being out on their arse by the end of the Bolton game.
davieG Posted 1 January 2014 Posted 1 January 2014 GTF will hold the ball up and his control is much better than Waghorn whose first touch is poor. It'll also give Nugent the chance to play the more forward striker role and may help up his goals from open play.
Stadt Posted 1 January 2014 Posted 1 January 2014 When Wasyl, Hammond and GTF were signed we were all saying they'll be useful fur games like Millwall away where their strength and experience will come in. It'll be cagey and I think it will probably be a draw because we're not going to be able to play to our strengths but Millwall aren't great so I'm going for 1-1.
foxfanazer Posted 1 January 2014 Posted 1 January 2014 We'll see. Its a points business. It could turn out to be a clever line up, or a mistake.Better than key players burning out Col. Needed to be done at some point so this and the Stoke game seems to be as good a time as any
Captain... Posted 1 January 2014 Posted 1 January 2014 Happy to see the squad being used, would just rather it was used over a period of games rather than making wholesale changes for one game, then back to the first 11 for the next league game.
katieakita Posted 1 January 2014 Posted 1 January 2014 Time for a well earned rest for some, Pearson cannot win with some of us.
Benji Posted 1 January 2014 Posted 1 January 2014 We'll see. Its a points business. It could turn out to be a clever line up, or a mistake. Bit of a hindsight approach that. Pearson has to choose his 11 before knowing the result. Personally think he's called it correct, would only be critical if it's not working and he fails to change it during the game.
TrentFox Posted 1 January 2014 Posted 1 January 2014 We'll see. Its a points business. It could turn out to be a clever line up, or a mistake.True. But our first choice eleven could slip up just as easily as happened at Sheffield Wed or Donny.
foxfanazer Posted 1 January 2014 Posted 1 January 2014 Time for a well earned rest for some, Pearson cannot win with some of us.Agreed. These aren't poor players we are putting out to be fair. NP will be expecting a performance from these boys
Wycombe Fox Posted 1 January 2014 Posted 1 January 2014 Wasyl at CB please for the love of god. Other than that it's still a fairly strong team on paper. Still playing our best formation and our main attacking threats of Knocky and Dyer are on the pitch. I'd have played RDL and James and subbed them off if they were tired (not that either of them really should be), and probably started Waghorn ahead of GTF. I predict a 1-1, them equalising fairly late on after Wasyl gets himself sent off for a wild lunge followed by a bit of push and shove around the 65 minute mark. Good shout

We will see if the squad is good enough to kick us on AND it could prove to be an error. Pearson is playing a risky game. Lets hope it pays off.
kingfox Posted 1 January 2014 Posted 1 January 2014 Personally I would of preferred to see this line up being used against Stoke, this season I really don't care if we don't have a good FA Cup run, the League is far more important. With all our promotion rivals, in Derby, QPR & Burnley all playing at home today, and on paper likely to all pick up three points, we are playing away from home with a weakened team, and if it backfires instead of staying four points clear, we could only be one point clear. While if we played this line up against Stoke, and lost, there's no points to surrender then. Not sure, if we manage to pull this off, this could actually be a bigger win than our victory over QPR, purely because of the team we're playing.

Guest Posted 1 January 2014 Posted 1 January 2014 all 4 players dropped are on the bench so it's probably more rest than anything else. It's a more congested period of the year than usual

Lets hope it pays off. Well it can't ever prove to be an error because we'll never know if we'd have lost 6-0 with an unchanged tired team and come out with injuries left right and centre.
