Ricoh Arena Groundsman Off To Leicester

Groundsman Moves To Leicester

Former Coventry City Head Groundsman John Ledwidge has left the Ricoh Arena to join Leicester City FC.

Ledwidge had been involved with City for a number of seasons before moving to the Ricoh Arena earlier this year. However, little football taking place at the Ricoh Arena, Ledwidge is moving up the M69 to Leicester.

Ledwidge said on his Facebook page: "With a heavy heart, I can confirm Ii am set to leave the Ricoh Arena for a new challenge at Leicester City Football Club.

"I have had the most amazing time working for Coventry City and The Ricoh Arena. Both are full of wonderful people who i can only thank for making my time so enjoyable... its time for a new chapter and hopefully realise my dream of working in the Premier League before I'm thirty.

"The club, the arena and all the wonderful people ive met i will forever hold close to my heart.

"Forever a sky blue... PUSB"

Damn, I was going to post this under the title, 'New Signing' !!   lol

We can't really criticise the bloke for being loyal to his football club can we?

I mean, if I got a job with Forest I would still be a Leicester fan.

Can we?

Can we ???

man_city_in_hk_1.jpgIf the pitch looks like this next winter we'll know how seriously he takes being a cov fan over being our groundsman.

That's considered prime parkland in Coventry.

I'd better be quiet, I'm going to Coventry in a few minutes to pick up a second hand wheel for a Fiat Seciento, or however you spell it.

As long as he keeps the pitch in its current quality state then I don't care who he supports. Going for premier league "before thirty" - this guy might be good at his job then.

I would NEVER work for them tossers anyway, how ever much they were willing to pay me!!!!

Don't do it!!!!!

Fiats are crap

It's for my step-daughter, she needs a new wheel, and just got back !!

By the way and off topic, I've got a Fiat Grande Punto and it is a great car.  Easy to live with, cheap to run, reliable and looks pretty too!!

I'd buy another Fiat.

big loss, ed mowe. not looking forward to any bad weather. however good this guy might be, he's no ed mowe.

Don't sell Ed Mowe...

Little?

Though to be fair, there wasn't any football even when they had a team.

I've heard the women's team play at the Ricoh, how true that is I don't know.

Although a quick internet search says they don't.

The former head groundsman of Coventry City is off to pastures new – taking on the equivalent top job at the Championship high fliers Leicester. John Ledwidge has been in charge of keeping the Ricoh Arena pitch for about four and a half years until they decided not to play there.

The 28-year-old was employed as head groundsman by Coventry City FC when they were still playing at the Ricoh.

It is not the first time John has left to join a rival team, his time at Coventry split with a brief stint at Aston Villa, but the groundsman insists leaving was a tough decision.

John, who lives a stone’s throw away from CCFC’s former Highfield Road home, said: “It is with a heavy heart I leave this place, I have really enjoyed my time here.

Well John the Grass is certainly greener on this side of the M69. He says â€œIf you cut me in half I’d bleed Sky Blue, I will probably have a Sky Blue shirt on somewhere. But I won’t be digging any holes or growing the grass longer if they end up in the same league!…which they won’t!
