One game at a time please, can't cope with all these calculations and the bookies never get it wrong talk.

The only thing I ask is no Stringer like speculation please.

Worked this out yesterday, the Maximum amount of points we need for promotion is 35 providing QPR (3rd) win all their remaining games, I will be working this out week by week as im sure QPR wont be winning every game, just nice to get some actual facts now.

how did you come up with 35 points? Are you assuming also that Burnley win all there games apart from against QPR?

yep obviously its the worst case scenario, just nice to know what the maximum amount of points is we need, hopefully it will decrease very quickly with us winning and them losing.

My boss at work (Arsenal fan, extremely happy) says that promotion is virtually sealed, no sign of implosion. He also said we're 10 points clear (7 with a game in hand, he says we'll beat Forest :D ).

Not only will it be 10 points clear of 2nd, it'll be 14 points clear of 3rd.

Obviously I've looked at the table time and time again and smiled to myself at how good it's going. But it's only when he mentioned that we could be 14 points clear of 2nd and that not only would we 'have to drop 14 points...QPR would also need to gain 14 points'. Can anyone see that happening simultaneously? Will we drop enough points (or not gain enough) and will other teams take advantage? They didn't take advantage this weekend and we didn't even play.

Our recent good  is not only a superb reflection of our desire, hunger, resilience and motivation, but it's also magnifies that no other team could keep up with us.

It's all looking rosy - I don't want to get ahead of myself and Wednesday we could suffer a bump back to reality. I hope these aren't famous last words and I don't want to come across as counting chickens before they hatch, but not only will it take a monumental effort for us to cock it up, but I think it'll also take a monumental effort for others to not only catch us, but get further away from us to get the cushion we have now.

I'm with you, I think you're absolutely right, but I will not be counting your chickens, or indeed mine.

It won't depends on whether Sheffield Wednesday beat the sheepshaggers this Tuesday.

dont forget derby play tuesday so if they win they go 3rd on 58 points so we could be looking at 14 ahead of QPR in 3rd or 12 ahead of DERBY. If Derby win and we lose we will only b a measly 9 points ahead of 3rd :)

If QPR win all there games they end up on 104

If Burnley win all apart from against QPR they can end up on 102

If we gain maximum 35 then we r on 102

therefore we could drop to 3rd by goal difference so i think 36 points is maximum required unless ive missed something

(Sorry for being a awkward F*****) :)

There will be no chickens counted until there's a P or C next to our name in the table!

So in 12 games time we will get promotion that is the worst case scenario best case scenario is 7 games.

So somewhere between 7-12 games we will get promotion I reckon 9.

Sheffield Wednesday at home.

Just for fun,   if all teams continued the same form as in the last 6 games the table would finish like this :-

Leicester City

Nottingham Forest

Burnley

Derby County

QPR

Reading

Wigan Athletic

Brighton & Hove Albion

Watford

Ipswich Town

Sheffield Wednesday

Leeds United

Blackburn Rovers

Huddersfield Town

Middlesborough

Doncaster

Bournemouth

Birmingham City

Millwall

Blackpool

Charlton Athletic

Barnsley

Bolton Wanderers

Yeovil

38 surely?  QPR can get 104 points, Derby 103 and Forest 102.  QPR don't have to play Burnley again. Of the current top six they only have to play us and Forest. Derby have the easiest looking fixtures on paper though they still have to visit Burnley and their match with Forest on 22nd March looks key. Forest's next 3 matches look key for them. Us followed by Burnley away and Wigan at home. If they win all those they would be well placed.

Still think it will take 93 points. We could really use Sheffield Wednesday beating Derby tomorrow.

That has been my magic number all along. :D:thumbup:

My calculations for this week.

Burnley games left 15 x 3 = 45 (that means they win every game)

45 + 60 (their current total) = 105

Meaning we need 38 points to ensure we finish above Burnley/they cannot finish above us.

38 / 3 = 12.6 (wins)

(Applying the same with QPR means we need 12.3 wins)

Basically if we win our next twelve games that's it, which is actually QPR at home, but it'll not even be that because Burnley and QPR won't win every game.
