Points for promotion

Recommended Posts

For me we will see what QPR are all about they need to win both their games in hand, and another couple for us to stand up and take notice, so approximately 5 games in that time period I am hoping we have 10-15 points on the board.

We ticked another point off the list last night. The team just need to keep avoiding defeat as we did at a last gasp yesterday and we should be fine. Picking up those wins and draws and we can make that 85-90 people want this year.

If we win our next three games and draw twice (11 points), then Charlton (22nd) cannot catch us even if they win every game (which they won't do anyway) :sweating:

Seriously though we're now 20 points clear of 6th place. Reading currently sit in 6th and are so inconsistent. To not get promoted, it will take a massive, massive cock up.

Re-looked through our fixtures (again, seem to be doing this after every game now!) and I've got 9 games (out of 16, obviously) that I think we should be getting three points from. Considering 9 x 3 = 27 + our current total of 67 = 94... That's an estimate, and not even considering what could happen in this beautiful game ie the other teams around us losing or drawing.

I'm getting nervous just reading this thread. I keep looking at it hoping someone is gonna come up with some crazy and simple formula that guarantees we're gonna go up regardless of what happens between now and May  :pearson:

I've sat and studied and done the maths and from what I can work out.

1 point than 23 others should seal the title and failing that 1 more point than 22 will do.

We will have a clearer idea after next Saturday, Burnley and QPR both have 2 games this week while we don't play, best case scenario is we still have an 11 point lead over both, worse case it's down to 5 points then it's wide open again.

It's all if's but's and maybes at the moment, the top sides never seem to lose hence most of the points needed predictions are over 90, we really need a surprise result like Bolton or Bournemouth beating Burnley.

I have always thought 91 will be enough, but that points total could come down if things go our way this week.

Are we not just getting a bit ahead of ourselves?

Remember the slump this time last season?

Seriously, do you enjoy being a misery guts.  Has this team looked in any way like having a slump!!

Give yourself an upper cut!!

I'm as excited as anyone trust me on that one

However after last seasons collapse we should just tread with a bit of caution for a few games yet IMO

So we should never hope, or dream, or enjoy anything in life in case something bad happens and it all turns to shit?

There seems to be a few on here who follow the 'never get your hopes up and you'll never be disappointed' motto. Certainly not the way I want to live my life.

85-88 points should secure automatic promotion, if it is higher than that means that all teams below us are hardly losing games!

Fore the title - 94-96 points should be enough.

So the first step is securing automatic promotion so 6-7 wins should be enough.

No need for anyone to be melodramatic just being a little cautious after last season that's all

Personally think we will go up this season as we would certainly have to throw it away now

Win all of our home games and we will do it. Although I'd say there's a chance that won't happen, if we keep picking up points here and there away from home we should do enough.

Still a long way to go. Everyone has still got to play each other again in and around the top 6.

Slightly off topic, but I reckon if we beat Forest away, the finish line will be that much closer than the mere three points suggests. That might sound daft, but we'd move to 70 points with 15 games remaining. We'd have beaten a top of the table rival unbeaten in ages. We'd have continued our own long unbeaten run. I think the collective belief that would give the players, yet alone us, would be unstoppable. Don't get me wrong it's far from being the end of the world if we don't beat them. Do we dare to dream?

The thought of beating F@@@st is just amazing. That would make my year personally as I can't stand that lot. Would be a good win to boot

If we win 8 of our remaining 16 games,Burnley would need to win 11games and somebody else would need to win at least 12 games, now that's a big ask.......we have home games against Charlton,Yeovil,Blackpool,Sheff Wed and Doncaster, though not certain, they are very winnable games, with that in mind 3wins from the other 11games should be a breeze,so for me 91 points would be enough.
