weller54 Posted 23 February 2014 Posted 23 February 2014 6 more wins is enough.. Gives us 89 pts... That's enough for promotion!.. Anymore means definite champions!!... I think we'll achieve 92 -95 pts!
yorkie1999 Posted 23 February 2014 Posted 23 February 2014 I hope so! Would love to do it, live on Sky infront of the league favourites. I suspect that's why all of a sudden we've got a load of games on sky
lancyclaret Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 Leicester won't be caught and, at the moment, Burnley and Derby look the best bets for 2nd. Incredible to think that Hull finished 2nd last season with just 79 points (including 15 defeats!!!!)
cityfanlee23 Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 I don't understand this OBSESSION with, How many points we need... It is completely down to the rest of the division as to how many points we need, I don't give a **** if we win the league with 80 points or 180 points, As long as we get promoted. I don't care! I've seen atlast 5 different points threads, as well as an hour every week of the moan in having deep discussions about it, You can't even go onto the facebook page for a break..
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 I don't give a **** if we win the league with 80 points or 180 points If we managed 180 points, the whole world (myself included) would give several ****s
cityfanlee23 Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 If we managed 180 points, the whole world (myself included) would give several ****s The point still stands... Trying to say how many points we need is based on every other result in the division.. just plucking a number from the sky and saying "Yeah this will do" who cares.. Just get us promoted... 7 pages of this is rediculous by FT standards
Brooksy Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 Not too bothered if we finish 1st or 2nd as long as it's automatic but obviously the title would be nice. Unbelievable that we're only 8 points behind Hulls 2nd place total and only 3 wins behind Cardiffs total wins. It's been a fantastic season.

I've seen atlast 5 different points threads, as well as an hour every week of the moan in having deep discussions about it, You can't even go onto the facebook page for a break.. Perhaps it's a hangover from the O'Neill era. He was always setting points targets - 42 for survival being the most common, but then 55 in 99-00 and so on. At this stage in the season, knowing that March has been a bad month for us in the past, it makes sense to be looking at how many more we'll need. 93 points has never seen a side fail to go up, not to my knowledge, and I think 95 has always been enough for the championship. So it's sensible for people to be talking about 7/8 more wins as a target. If they manage that then they will be promoted, will be champions. That's the logic. In many ways it's like being two goals up and asking how long's left to play.

If they get pleasure from it what's the problem most topics on the subject are clearly labelled and are easy to avoid.
Guest MattP Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 I actually want 100 points now, its doable and it would look absolutely fantastic in a frame on the wall. Is that tinpot? I dunno.
DanTheMan Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 I actually want 100 points now, its doable and it would look absolutely fantastic in a frame on the wall. Is that tinpot? I dunno. Tell me about it - if we can maintain the current form, we are all set for triple figures! My head says we won't manage that, but my blue-tinted specs like to think otherwise! I'm also considering doing an update for my app for the run-in that lets you know when teams are promoted/relegated, increasingly looking like it'll be worth my time
Ric Flair Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 My gut feeling is that 83 points will be needed for automatic promotion, I think it's going to be tight and there'll be a few teams going on a strong run in the play-off pack.
Babylon Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 My head says we won't manage that, but my blue-tinted specs like to think otherwise! For the 100, either 9 wins, 2 draws, 3 losses.... 8 wins, 5 draws, 1 loss.... more than do-able.
DanTheMan Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 For the 100, either 9 wins, 2 draws, 3 losses.... 8 wins, 5 draws, 1 loss.... more than do-able. Haha, maybe I was being too pessimistic then!
artursteppe Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 9 wins from the last 14 matches would make it virtually impossible for two teams to overtake us! I can see that Burnley and Derby could both get 90/92. This could be the highest combined total for the two automatically promoted teams ever. I would like to get the Title at home to QPR!
queensguardfox Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 Ive had a bet with my friend after the Watford game leicester will win or draw the remaining games this season, 14 games to go i fancy my chances. COYB

Simonb Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 7 wins will be more than enough ... 92 points.. That would leave burnley needing 29 points (10 wins) and derby 32 (11 wins) to both catch us, and from 14 games that's very very unlikely
Swarles Barkley Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 Ive had a bet with my friend after the Watford game leicester will win or draw the remaining games this season, 14 games to go i fancy my chances. COYB I wish you the best youngy!

People are getting excited about our possible promotion and potential points total, if you don't want to get involved fair enough, but I don't understand why you would read the thread, and then leave a post saying its ridiculous how many posts there are.

Quite. More to the point that there have been about 4/5 different threads about it.. I am entitled to an opinion, and completely free to post it. I cannot see the point in getting over excited in february.. the way some of the posters on here go on, it's worth remortgaging and heading down to ladbrokes... Although I do see it a case of us winning the league convincingly. I can't wait to see if somebody GUESSED the points total correctly, Then come straight on here with all the "I told you so" threads
Pegosteve Posted 24 February 2014 Posted 24 February 2014 Being a bit of a nerd on stats and averages I find it interesting to try and predict. To be honest its now basically a 3 team race (for us) , I cannot see QPR or Forest catching us as they are both too far behind. The sooner we drop Burnley or Derby the better hence Burnley win this weekend would be as good a result as a draw. At the minute its looking like 89 -92 will be enough for autos and 92 - 95 for top spot. Mid table form will get us to 90 points from here. What is certain that anyone catching us is going to have to go on one great run and we need to have the slump we had last season, not sure either will happen. Interestingly last seasons top 6 yielded the following points from last 14 games: Cardiff - 20 Hull - 20 Watford - 21 Brighton - 26 Palace - 17 Us -14 Final run ins are very unpredictable as the teams fighting for survival tend to come up with some odd results as well as teams looking to get in to the play offs do - look at Bolton last season and Wigan appear to be doing the same this year. All makes for an exhilarating end to the season. One thing is that there are 23 teams below us who would all without doubt swop their situation for ours no matter how nervous we might be about blowing it!

It doesn't really matter how many threads there are or how many pages as far as I am concerned. If fans want to discuss points totals and be excited that's ok with me.
