You got dates sorted and things like hostels/trains booked? Or just gonna buy a train ticket pick a start date and roll with it? We've got that route planned to an extent but no hostels or dates booked bar start and end, so we can spend however long in each place depending on how much there is to do and see and how expensive it is etc. Haha if I see a lost looking gent in a city top dragging a massive bag round somewhere in europe I'll assume it's you and say hi

If you are with people that don't care about the state of the accommodation then it'll be easy as you can just rock up wherever and they will be happy, but if people are picky about where they want to stay and what they want to do then I could see that causing arguments. I've got a rail pass from 16th June-16th July. My friend is coming with me to Paris and Amsterdam (first two locations), so we've got Eurostar tickets for 11th June and will have 5 nights in Paris (I perhaps would've preferred a night less but tickets for the Eurostar were cheapest on the 11th) and will go to Amsterdam on Monday 16th, so the day my pass kicks in. I plan on having pre-booked accommodation for Paris and Amsterdam but nothing is booked yet. I'm not keen on just turning up in some foreign city on my own with nowhere to stay though, so I might book hostels for further down the line too. Will probably go Berlin after, potentially Krakow and Auschwitz but it's a long journey, Prague, Munich, Venice, Florence and Rome. That's my general route if nothing changes, if I don't go Krakow then I'll go somewhere else, Innsbruck looks really nice. Haha that sounds about right
ScouseFox Posted 18 April 2014 Posted 18 April 2014 yeah i get what you mean, but there won't be any disagreements cause we're all the same, laid back, happily go wherever anyone says and nobody's really suggested anything they don't want to do or would be pissed off if we didn't do. all happy to just take it as it comes! ahh you're heading out a few weeks earlier than me then, we're flying to amsterdam on the 7th july i think it is. work means we're only going for about 15/16 days too as opposed to the 3 weeks we wanted. we definitely plan on being in berlin the night of the world cup final to watch stevie g lift the trophy in a massive square somewhere though we still haven't decided where we're going to book any hostels for, think it could go either way being in a group. like you say on your bill if you rocked up in the dark not knowing where you are you'd probably want a definite place you know about already booked, but with 6 of us we'll be sound enough "handling ourselves" should anyone try and cause any mischief, but we're not sure how many hostels will have rooms/space for 6 lads if we just knock on the door one night haha. one of us suggested poland but with the shorter time we're going we decided we'd sack it off because like you say it's a bit out the way, the "route" we have planned is basically a line starting top left of the continent and ending bottom right. wherever we go or whatever happens it's bound to be loadsa fun .

When I said Leicester he immediately said "ahhh, baby sqaud". They were great guys and we went to watch Dinamo vs Hajduk with them when Eduardo and Modric were playing for them. I think the name was 'Fulir Hostel'.

Haha I wouldn't have thought it would end up being a disaster, unless you end up leaving people behind half way across Europe Yeah sensible, I can see myself booking it a couple of days before leaving for the destination so a) I can have a proper look at the hostel before hand and be able to have a decent choice and b) I know that I have a bed! Aye same, I don't want to just waste days travelling when I could have shorter journeys and essentially see another place. Wish I was going to Croatia like you though, that will hopefully be part of an Eastern Europe trip in the next couple of years!

The past month or so, the weather has been beautiful - high 20s, cloudless skies etc etc. However, the "season" typically starts at Easter, when people begin to hire boats and come visiting the area for cycling or walking holidays. Sadly, the weather changed last Friday, and all over the weekend - and continuing tomorrow - the temperatures have been in the low teens, and it's been a mix of rain and drizzle under grey skies. It's OK for us, because in a week or so it will be lovely again, but I feel desperately sorry for people who have saved up and spent money for a week or so down here - and they might as well have stayed at home.
