Do you think flight and hotel is doable for £150pp? I just had a quick look on skyscanner. Ryanair operate out of EMA so they're the most likely. Dublin, Krakow and Malaga are all decent bets, and would be within budget. Any of those would be good for a couple of nights.

That's true, but that doesn't bother me at all. plus it depends where you go. San Antonio yes. because thats the cheap area. but if you go Pacha/Privilege or bora bora they seem to be less chavs.

Totally agree, its not my scene. I'm going this year to a different resort with the family though, so I will se how it compares.

Fantastic holiday, really good ski tuition and nice long runs. Eating out is cheap, drinks are cheap and local beers are very nice. Also lift passes are about half the price of elsewhere so good savings to be had

Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 2 February 2014 Posted 2 February 2014 Bovril - didn't really do much exploration, but we ate at a restaurant in nearby Chepelare (one of the best meals I've ever had) - drive was foggy as anything so didn't realise until the transfer home in daylight that it was such a dump! Will probably go again next year though as it was amazing value, will do a bit more exploring then
bovril Posted 2 February 2014 Posted 2 February 2014 Yeah Chepelare is your bog standard post-Communist town but it's worth visiting some of the little mountain villages like Skiroka Laka. And yes, you'll never go hungry in Bulgaria.

You can also get cheap train tickets from Leicester to St Pancras from a website which I've forgotten but could find out if you are interested. I went to Paris for the first time last year and loved it. Great food, friendly people (believe it or not) and a lovely city to just walk around. It is also reasonably priced when compared to London and the metro is cheap and requent.

Paris and Rome are the most expensive cities I've ever been to apart from Scandinavia. In Paris you're looking at 7 euros a beer and a meal is way over 20 euros for an unfancy main. Perhaps it's because I live in London and don't frequent Leicester Square and Oxford St all the while but the difference in prices is vast. Also when it comes to attractions and museums London has the most free stuff to do than any city in the world. I did 700 euros in 3 days in Paris and probably the same or more in Rome. Scandalous prices in the tourist parts of Rome where they charge upwards of 15 euros for a coke. I nearly dropped the coont when he charged me that.

I went Rome last year and didn't think it was that bad, you could have a lasagne and a beer for 10 euros, okay they stuck 3 euros service charge on top of that which I thought was a bit of a con but I didn't think it was any more of a rip off than London.
adam1 Posted 2 February 2014 Posted 2 February 2014 Bruges appears to be popular with the amount of people on here who have been there. I would reccomemend it. We went on the Eurostar, I think it was £90 each return from Leicester to Bruges. Tempted to go Belguim again and visit Brussels and Ghent (between Bruges and Brussels). Although might go next winter. If you want cheap and good camping in Devon and Cornwall is the way forward. In Devon I would reccomend the South Hams area. Cornwall I don't know much about but might do a tour this summer.

Alexikokopops Posted 2 February 2014 Posted 2 February 2014 New York for a week in April. Any tips? All you can drink brunches are good. They do them on Sundays. We did one down the Meatpacking district then strolled into a nearby hotel, pretended we were staying there, and went up to the open air rooftop bar. Great views. The bar was over two floors and they had a pool in the non-open air bit. Great times. Also, when I was there (last May) the Statue Of Liberty island was closed so all you could do was go on a boat that went around it. I just went on the Staten Island ferry, which was free, and took some pictures from there. If you like your craft beer then get down to the Brooklyn Brewery. The "tour" is a 10 minute talk from a guy who works there but the bar but is pretty cool, plus the area it's in (Williamsburg) is something different from, say, Manhatten. Watch out for hipsters though. Oh, and the walk across Brooklyn Bridge is pretty cool. Oh, and if you want to watch any football out there then go to the Football Factory right next to the Empire State Building. They show it all. I watched both the Watford play-off games there. Thanks to Jordan for that recommendation I can't think of anything else off the top of my head apart from the obvious stuff that you probably already know.
