corbyfox1884 Posted 20 January 2014 Posted 20 January 2014 26 games gone , 57 points on the board , average 2.19 points per game . league winning points total ...90 points ? 33 points from the last 20 games ? average 1.65 points per game ... Can see why all the bookies are making us odds on to go up automatically , it will take a severe , disastrous dip in form for us not to . Cant argue with the facts eh ?
shade Posted 20 January 2014 Posted 20 January 2014 threads like these make me cringe as bad as the "possibly the easiest 10 games coming up" thread. can't we enjoy it without looking further than the next game?
Mark_w Posted 20 January 2014 Posted 20 January 2014 Would be interesting to see Burnley/QPR compared with how the 2nd and 3rd best team in the league were doing at this stage in previous seasons. Edit: I've had a quick look and Burnley and QPR are doing better than the teams competing for Automatic Promotion at this stage in the last few years, so it's probably going to take a higher points tally than usual to get top 2 unless one of them falls away.
Lionator Posted 20 January 2014 Posted 20 January 2014 Game by game is what we should be looking at, we could easily slip up against a much improved Boro side this weekend
harpendenfox Posted 20 January 2014 Posted 20 January 2014 96/7 points needed in my opinion. Best part of 40 points. An awful long way to go, unless that is we are witnessing the early stages of an 18 game winning streak. .....

Vlad the Fox Posted 20 January 2014 Posted 20 January 2014 If we collapse now as we did last season we will finish on more points than hull got promoted with. Though I do feel it will require a higher total this year.
inckley fox Posted 20 January 2014 Posted 20 January 2014 Yes, closer to 90 than 80 this year, unless Burnley take a tumble. The highest you've ever needed is 92, I think. Or 93. But 87/88 is usually comfortable.
KFS Posted 20 January 2014 Posted 20 January 2014 I do wonder what would happen should we lose on Saturdaylol
VLC86 Posted 20 January 2014 Posted 20 January 2014 I do wonder what would happen should we lose on Saturdaylol Pearson for the electric chair
shade Posted 20 January 2014 Posted 20 January 2014 Pearson for the electric chair Pearson has eclectic hair.
Number 6 Posted 20 January 2014 Posted 20 January 2014 Let's be the do this. We don't need X or Y points, we need as many as we can get: starting with 3 on Saturday.
Guest kristianity77 Posted 20 January 2014 Posted 20 January 2014 I do wonder what would happen should we lose on Saturdaylol We'd still be 5 points clear at the top is what would happen
Lobsterboyuk Posted 20 January 2014 Posted 20 January 2014 Only one more league win needed to match the record of several in a row
harpendenfox Posted 20 January 2014 Posted 20 January 2014 I do wonder what would happen should we lose on Saturdaylol I think most people will remain calm. Two in a row and there might be some twitching!
CosbehFox Posted 20 January 2014 Posted 20 January 2014 Guys last year I did a projection of points needed based on the last ten seasons of the Championship. I let slip when the omens were good last year and I was very confident. Hence I am not going to say what's required etc, I have it all on a geeky spreadsheet and every Monday morning it gets updated. What makes it more difficult to predict this year is that three clubs are ahead of normal pace.

So , we will just go out and, steal, cajole, earn those extra digits, its only football, We aint playing cricket here.
adam1 Posted 20 January 2014 Posted 20 January 2014 57 points. 20 games left. 2.19 pts a game = 100pts.
Bert Posted 20 January 2014 Posted 20 January 2014 I think 92 points will win the league. 87 gets auto.
Buzzell Posted 20 January 2014 Posted 20 January 2014 Not too bothered about looking at stats as such. Things can turn sour in this league very quickly, as we know. Let's take each game as it comes. Hopefully this will be our year.

Facts are it's football and anything can happen, howd did we go during March and April of last year?
Fox92 Posted 20 January 2014 Posted 20 January 2014 Stuff like stats and history (oh this happened when ...) I tend not to take too much notice of. We need to take one step at a time. We're doing so well at the minute, I'm loving it, but it's January 20th. If we're still in this position around the start of March then I'll post again in this thread, but at the minute it's one small step at a time with our feet on the ground. I know Nigel will be doing the same.
ScouseFox Posted 20 January 2014 Posted 20 January 2014 Anything less than 60 more points will genuinely upset me.
