broughtonblue Posted 24 January 2014 Posted 24 January 2014 Some of us did I hated the piss it up the wall attitude. Had no respect or trust for our owners and never hid that fact. Still ask the question now how much do they pay for using KP on our ground and shirts? However I do have a little trust now they have wrote off the debt. But still wonder is FFP the only motive. They are not and never will be City fans and want a pay back on the investment they have layed out. They are business men they want a pay back. It is a good question, how much do the club actually receive from the owners for having everything branded 'KP' but are we actually any worse off than when we were sponsored by 'walkers', not sure we will ever know.FFP possibly was the reason for clearing the debt, but what I'm actually trying to say is, at least they did it, even if they did create a lot or most of it. They have also bought the stadium, enhanced the training facilities, got the development squad in the top cattergary and the pitch seems to be the best in this division. Compared to a lot of clubs with rich foreign owners, we seem to have struck lucky (at the minute, we can never tell what's round the corner) and I don't see myself looking at other clubs of a similar size to ours with envy for their owners. Of course they want an investment on their outlay, it is business after all, pretty much the same as all the pitch side and programme/match day sponsors want a return on their outlay although on a much smaller scale. At this present time I appreciate what they have done and what they are still doing for our club.

indierich06 Posted 24 January 2014 Posted 24 January 2014 I think they're good owners, and I'm happy they're at club, but let's not get carried away. We haven't even achieved anything under them yet and we're now more or less in the position we should be. Maybe if we get promoted, that should be the time to thank the owners. Yeah, it's great that they've bought the stadium and invested in the facilities and sorted out our debt problems, but they've gotten a lot of things wrong during their time here. It was their arrival that lead to the departure of NP the first time round, they bought in Sven and wasted an absolute fortune, getting nowhere in the process. A club this size with decent investment should be in the Premier League - at last we've got a manager in who looks capable of getting us there, and the owners seem to be happy to let him get on with it - great. But I'll be saving my applause for the owners, manager and players for when we actually get promoted, because it won't be the formality that a lot of people on here seem to think it will.
Beliall Posted 24 January 2014 Posted 24 January 2014 i wasnt sure if this question warranted a new thread, it mat have already been answered elswhere, but i havent seen it. this seems an ok place to ask; how does we get income from sponsorship? my understanding is we rent space on our shirts, and naming rights to the stadium for money towards wages and running costs, but if the company that owns us also uses us as a giant billboard, how do we get money from that? are they not just paying themselves?
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 24 January 2014 Posted 24 January 2014 Actually, they are Leicester fans, believe it or not, they were at Wembley watching us beat Tranmere. Oh dear! Do you still believe in Santa as well?
Beliall Posted 24 January 2014 Posted 24 January 2014 Oh dear! Do you still believe in Santa as well? wait....what? have you not seen arthur christmas? im a believer now
cityfanlee23 Posted 24 January 2014 Posted 24 January 2014 I can see it being one of those film moments, Where Mack stands up, and starts that slow clap in a very proud manner, Everyone turning to stare at him and he quietly sits down....
shade Posted 24 January 2014 Posted 24 January 2014 I hope so and I hope everyone laughs at you. The debt they've cleared was accumulated by themselves. I'm fed up of this mindset where people think these guys give a shit about me and you. They don't. If they did they would charge us acceptable prices. really? we were in the black before they came along?
cambridgefox Posted 24 January 2014 Posted 24 January 2014 I don't dislike them, since the mistakes of Sven I've been impressed by them, even more so in the summer when they stuck with Nigel. I don't believe they should be lauded though for removing a debt they created. Let alone the interest they pocketed on it for two years. I don't understand the 12th minute thing. Why 12th minute ?However I've been impressed with them,I think they have learnt quickly by their mistakes and rectified the problems they caused, rather than let it build like some clubs would have. The debt was their doing, but created in good faith most probably through naivety to push the club forward. They have learnt and seem to have let NP get on with his job and been big enough to rectify their mistakes. Eg Pearson back. How many chairman would have done that, which was saying" yeah ,made a balls up,but you know we were wrong" many might of thought it,but too many egos would have got in the way.
Simi Posted 24 January 2014 Posted 24 January 2014 It's not about being ungrateful or miserable ****ers. It just seems ridiculous to me that most of the people that would probably clap aren't even interested in getting behind the team or manager for the further 89. The owners most likely wouldn't even have a clue what was going on and just think we're applauding Kasper punting a kick out of play for a minute.
Happy Fox Posted 24 January 2014 Posted 24 January 2014 I will clap them when they lead us to promotion now is not the right time we haven't achieved anything yet.
The Doctor Posted 24 January 2014 Posted 24 January 2014 I like our owners, compared to other owners we could have got, they're very good, but can we stop licking their arses? Yes, they cleared the debt, credit to them for that, but rather than clapping the owners 1 minute a game, how about, I don't know, singing and clapping what is happening on the pitch and actually supporting the team?
Unabomber Posted 24 January 2014 Posted 24 January 2014 Let's clap in the third minute to show our appreciation to the amount of successful headbutts Nigel has landed on former players.
Voll Blau Posted 24 January 2014 Posted 24 January 2014 You're going to thank them for wiping out a "club liquidating debt"? You mean the one they oversaw? I'm off to clap the captain of the Titanic for giving us a superb film to watch. Anyone who joins in with this is ridiculous. Put your efforts into supporting the team. There are better Thais to wank over on the internet.
lgfualol Posted 24 January 2014 Posted 24 January 2014 I'll be clapping at home with one hand if we're winning by the 12th minute
Beliall Posted 24 January 2014 Posted 24 January 2014 Anyone who joins in with this is ridiculous. Put your efforts into supporting the team. There are better Thais to wank over on the internet. ahh thanks! i was running low on ideas
MooseBreath Posted 24 January 2014 Posted 24 January 2014 £30m of the debt was left over from Mandaric. That's money they've essentially gifted the club with no realistic hope of much return. I don't see many people queuing up to give us £30m. The rest of the debt was accumulated through buying the stadium, getting us a cat 1 academy, improving the training ground, and buying and paying players like Nugent and Kaspar, who among others look like leading us to the premiership. Again, that's money they've gifted to the club, with not much hope of a return. All this talk about 'the debt' as if it was all spent on coke and hookers. It was all spent on improving the club, and the results of that are plain to see. Plus in reality it was never even a debt, the owners said they were going to wipe it out and that's what they did. The investment was structured in a tax efficient manner. Essentially they have gifted the club over £100m. We've already clapped the owners so we dont need to do it again, but the people who are refusing to acknowledge that they deserve a lot of credit are coming across as a bit weird, probably xenophobic, possibly racist.
Leicester_Numan Posted 24 January 2014 Posted 24 January 2014 Oh dear! Do you still believe in Santa as well? It's documented that they became Leicester fans at the cup final v Boro. Now I'm not saying they're not here for financial reasons or to promote the KP brand or that they don't expect a return on their investment, just that they do have an affinity for the club that goes back long before them buying it.How that equates to believing in Santa Claus, f**k knows!
davieG Posted 24 January 2014 Posted 24 January 2014 They'll never be as a big a fan of lcfc than Milan Mandaric.
Corky Posted 24 January 2014 Posted 24 January 2014 This is why I love having a local chairman. Nothing to do with being local, just that we've had better owners of the club in the past who haven't had this forced show of adulation. Also, I think people's issue is that fans will join in with this but probably won't chant for the manager, who is responsible for the current position as much, if not more, than the owners.
bovril Posted 24 January 2014 Posted 24 January 2014 If this is the kind of embarrassing shit you guys are doing nowadays, then I'm fvcking delighted that I can't regularly attend home games any more. What on earth is this obsession with minute applauses? All this planned, prolonged 'appreciation' for some irrelevant shit and there'll be (at best) a momentary polite ripple if the team pull off a genius passive move. Does anyone actually watch/care about what's happening on the pitch any more? Clapping's a bit of a silly idea but if you're referring to appreciating what the owners have done, I'm not sure that's "irrelevant".

How that equates to believing in Santa Claus, f**k knows! Documented by who? As far as I can recall that's something Top said when they bought the club. It's bullshit, designed to ingratiate themselves with the fans. This is a business to them, no more. And as for the twat above who claims those who do not believe the owners deserve credit are probably xenophobic/racist, **** right off. The reason I don't give them credit is because they've done no more than they're supposed to do. They're supposed to run the football club properly. I wish people would applaud me to turning up to work every day.
Beliall Posted 24 January 2014 Posted 24 January 2014 this is starting to remind me of those cringle worthy halfords ads on dave....."thanks tim"

Who are the better owners? I can't remember any owner investing anywhere near as much money into the infrastructure and playing squad. You think Pearson could have us top without the owner's money? With a team full of Kennedys and Bakayogos and Futacs? Come off it mate. It's 20% Pearson, 80% money.
