Aston Villa could consider a move for Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson if current boss Paul Lambert leaves the club, Sports Direct News understands.

The Scot came in for stinging criticism after the weekend 2-0 home reverse at the hands of fellow strugglers West Ham United, with a chorus of jeers from the Villa Park faithful greeting the full-time whistle.

He steered them away from relegation last term but is facing up to the prospect of another battle against the drop in the final four months of this campaign, with Villa just four points clear of the danger zone.

In stark contrast, Pearson’s stock is rising at Midlands rivals Leicester.

His side are 11 points clear at the top of the Championship table, having won 21 of their 30 matches so far, and a place in next season’s Premier League looks increasingly likely.

If Lambert is sacked or quits, an attempt to lure Pearson to Villa would be controversial given the rivalry between the two clubs. :dunno:

Though I hope this is all bollox, and it probably is, as we continue to do well, Pearson will be linked with other clubs.

Villa are a big club and one which, I suspect, most managers would like a crack at.

There's been alot of talk of takeovers at Villa aswell, so I wouldn't take any notice of this. I also thought we weren't allowed to post news headlines from Sports Direct anyway?!

That's why I created the 'bollocks' thread.

Rivalry since Little went there, surely, and Joachim.

At the time there was but as the years go back by i think a few more leicester fans have understood the move, Little had said for years even before he was Leicester manager that he one day wanted to go back to Villa as manager.  Also i think when MON was in charge at Villa, i think one or two leicester fans wanted to see MON do well.

There's was a rivalry once upon of time.

Brian Little lying, John Gregory, Allan Evans both leaving to joining him.

Little returns and gets the worst ever reception ever from the city fans. Was described as the most hostile atmosphere at filbert st

Julian Joachim Leicester best youngster leaves in the 95/96 season

We go up and beat them away 3-1 setting a trend of not losing to villa under MON.

Semi final league cup, Doug Ellis slags Leicester off and John Gregory calls us boring and said we didn't get past the halfway line in the away leg.

During the MON years Villa was probably our best derby game looking back.

Depends what position both teams are in, suppose this is the same for ex players who played for both clubs.

If Lambert went to Villa and failed, why would they go for someone who's pretty much like for like with Lambert?

They'd go for a foreign bloke surely.
