Realistic signings now we are up... (and some unrealistic ones)

Recommended Posts

I think he means the Wenger who is infinitely more successful than any manager we have had, qualified for the CL on a limited budget, unearths fantastic players and to this day competes with billionaires.

The man is so much more qualified on how to build a squad than anybody here. If he had as few injuries as his rivals in the past few seasons they'd probably still be top of the league.

This is a bigger debate buddy but it depends upon what you see as 'successful'.

Arsenal are a massive club with a huge fanbase. Many of their fans are completely disillusioned with Wenger who yes, has been a financial success but to win nothing for nearly a decade is very very poor. If Wenger was anyone else, he'd have been sacked a long time ago.

Chelsea... a club who have chopped and changed managers at will (whether right or wrong) have had great success by so doing in terms of silverware, which is what the fans really crave.

Wenger, apart from a fantastic start, has failed to deliver for years and years. Apart from making money.

You might have a point there. However, he still is one of the most successful managers ever to grace the Premier League and is to date the only manager with a team surviving an entire PL campaign unbeaten.

Only a handful of managers of our day and age can claim to be even remotely close to his achievements.

In my football manager game, we went up with 97 points and signed victor Valdes, Fabio, Darren fletcher, quaresma, and Georgery van Der wiel on loan. Just played Chelsea at home, first game of the season...1-1 draw with wood scoring for us.

What part of a brand new stadium, debt free club (near enough) and constant CL qualification is classed as failing to deliver?

They should win the FA Cup this year, and i reckon the trophies will start flow soon too. Look at how much money and managers Liverpool and Spurs went through, and they didnt have the burden of a new stadium to pay for and they only managed to qualify on a couple of occasions.

Wenger, though he isnt without weakness, particularly in big games, is a man i'd listen to when it comes to building a team, philosophy and a club.

Lets face it, if Arab and Russian billionaires hadn't come swanning into the equation Arsenal might have won much more in the last 10 years.

Not a bad shout. Is he PL quality though?

Question is, would he be worth risk? Surely he doesn't haven't a chance at Chelsea; since when have they stuck with an English striker? Still young, might be worth it

What's with the new account, kingfox?

Haha, noooo, not kingfox, to be honest, I've not actually seen much of Bamford. He's just a name. :P

Keep Cattermole away from this club!

Lee Cattermole is one of the most underrated players in the Premiership, people have written him off as a one dimensional thug but if you look at how he is playing under Poyet in a Sunderland side who are playing expansive football he is a good solid Premiership player. It tells you a lot when Poyet didn't want to sell Cattermole in January and he's only 26. He would allow Drinkwater and James more license to play in the midfield knowing that Cattermole was in there to give us solid, smart play. He's turning it round since the days of constantly losing his head and getting sent off.

We already have a small squad and some of those will leave so we'll need a fair few more than 2 or 3.

Despite having the aforementioned small squad we haven't used our u-21s this season so it's unlikely that NFP will be doing that in the Premier.

We need a goalie, perhaps two.

Cover for both De Laet and Schlupp, just don't think Konchesky will good enough.

New centre half with Premier experience.

Ravel Morrison

A striker

I think in the premiership we need a solid spine, so no risks through the middle. A big strong technically gifted cm ala Huddlestone is 100% necessary as a midfield lynchpin, a new cb with premiership experience to go with Liam Moore and guide him through his first premiership season, like Lescott, and a good quality proven prem strikers to have assurance up front, Then let the scouts go wild abroad for any other gaps
