Ashley Posted 30 June 2014 Posted 30 June 2014 According to some Leeds fan on twitter we've bid £6.5m for Ross McCormack
Callabinho Posted 30 June 2014 Posted 30 June 2014 According to some Leeds fan on twitter we've bid £6.5m for Ross McCormack I hope not, 100% convinced he will be a total flop in the premier league.
65RosesFox Posted 30 June 2014 Posted 30 June 2014 I hope not, 100% convinced he will be a total flop in the premier league. 28 goals in an awful Leeds team. He deserves a chance in the Premier League and if £6.5m is the bid, I think it's worth the gamble.
Finnegan Posted 30 June 2014 Posted 30 June 2014 Hdosndhdoshdifhsoahs. I can't hack it anymore. I really don't want us to spend 7m odd on some championship striker that was barely better than what we had last season. I was so happy when Nigel said we wouldn't have heard of any of our targets. Come on, let's bring in a Bony or Michu like bargain and stop ****ing around with the rubbish. I really hope it's all smoke and mirrors. I want to be dazzled, not bored. Thank god there's a world cup on.
FoxyPalace.com Posted 30 June 2014 Posted 30 June 2014 Heard on talksport Leeds have left him behind, Think they said teams off to Italy. MMmmmm but apparently it was Fulham in for him.

TrentFox Posted 30 June 2014 Posted 30 June 2014 I think we'll start to see movements on deals now Hmmm - I've waited a full five minutes since you said that and still nothing !!! Grrr

I was aware of both, I must be honest, because I play far too much football manager and I do like reading the European football news. But I think most city fans could be forgiven for not being aware of a journeyman midfielder from Rayo Vallecano. You're perhaps forgetting that half of the premier league's supporters had never heard of Erik Lamela ffs.

Callabinho Posted 30 June 2014 Posted 30 June 2014 But how many players have made the move into the premier league after a brilliant season in the championship and struggled? Ross doesn't have that extra yard of pace you need to be a success in the premier league, it's a bigger jump than most of you think and I do not think he is up to it, £6.5 million is hideous too! Nugent struggled first time round, Bothroyed, Chopra, Hooper, Kevin Doyle, Cox to name a few, not managed to produce to the same level in the premier league. You have to be very careful when picking players from the championship, and I think Ulloa is definitely a better shout than Ross because his all round game would be better suited to the premier league.

For what it's worth, I totally agree with this regarding likelihood of success of both potential targets. Ross. To be fair to him is quite quick.
sphericalfox Posted 30 June 2014 Posted 30 June 2014 If McCormack was capable of doing the biz in the Prem, he'd had been snapped 2-3 years ago when he was ripping it up. Yes he had a good season last, but as has been mentioned, there's something lacking that I can't put my finger on, not being a professional FM manager, so paying out 6.5m is far too much.

Know what you are saying. For every Lambert there is an akinbiyi. We are in a position where we will have to take a gamble on a player whether that be a player from abroad or one from lower leagues.

I agree, proven top class players are either going to top clubs or we're one of many clubs in for the player. Some times we have to take a punt, and as punts go I guess McCormack is a slightly more educated one.
Deucalion Posted 30 June 2014 Posted 30 June 2014 I don't get the concern over how much a striker costs. If he does the business and we finish well clear of relegation then he will have been worth anything up to £60 million. We are not on the verge of bankruptcy and we are not managed by Sven. I think we can all relax a bit about the financial side and let the staff at the club do the business.

I have to say it has been something that's been annoying me a little on here whenever we're linked to a player. Everyone should have faith in the fact that Nigel won't spend a load of cash unless he feels the player is worth it. If his research is correct, then the player will be expensive for a good reason.
