Well if you are talking about spending within your means, you probably could yes. But look at Saints financial results after their first season back in the top flight, a loss of almost £10m and £27m still owing on transfer fees. I think people under estimate the increased costs associated with increased wages, bonuses etc.

But if we don't spend transfer fees and wages then we won't compete?

If promotion to the PL was such a financial burden then clubs would not want it?

Just on the McCormack thing, i heard Neil Warnock on talksport yesterday saying that he's the sort of player you need to build a team/system around to suit him. Therefore he couldn't see him doing that well at another club.

Nobody said it was a burden, if handled properly it shouldn't be. I was giving you an example of another club who lost money after getting promoted. You look at the likes of Bolton who were up there for years and came down with debts that have now reached £150m+.

Teams all push to "compete" and end up spending more than they can afford, even with the extra revenue. Wages at the highest level have become so high the £60m gets eaten up before you even get to transfer fees. Fulham came down with a £67m wage bill. Reading were up for one season and their wage bill was £46m, Saints £47m. (All 2012/2013 stats).

Again, nobody has said don't spend. But people expecting us to pump in huge sums don't appreciate the increased costs.

Yep.

He was never that good at Cardiff. Similar to Wood in that sense. Class at Millwall because he was the main man.

For once I agree with Colin!

Every time I saw Leeds play it was the McCormack show, the players around just kinda stood off and didn't really get the chance to offer much, possibly why they had such a bad run of results when he wasn't playing as well

Any chance we could start a 'twitter rumours' thread to see if there are any transfer rumours being tweeted.

Or just join twitter.

Anyone heard any more about this Mechael Kufflink I'm assured we're interested in?

Insane to think Ross McCormack is being valued the same amount Carlos Tevez was a season ago.

I hate football.

A 90% cvnt tax applies with any transfer involving Tevez though.

Confirmed that McCormack has indeed handed in a transfer request. http://www1.skysports.com/transfer/news/12691/9368759/transfer-news-leeds-captain-ross-mccormack-hands-in-transfer-request-at-elland-road

Yeah that's the real reason. Just amused me at the time. No explanation, just a pic of him before playing against us :P

Not a rumour at all but I love this bloke!

France could have used him when they were flagging in the late stages.

Probably going to skipper them in 2016 I'd have thought.
