Premier League 14/15 thread who'll be in it?

Wouldn't mind Fulham and West Brom going, offer absolutely nothing.

Haven't you beaten them in every home game since they were promoted? :D

I think some of you might get a rude awakening next season. It'll be tough, very tough...

This. A top ten finish is pretty optimistic. There might be a few 'weaker' teams up there but we can easily be around the relegation places by the end of the season. Maybe a few years down the line we could look to a top ten finish, but for me,, being my first Prem season I can remember, it's about survival and building.

Just been doing a bit of doing and there seems to be a trend...

98/99 season: Division One winners - Sunderland (105pts)

99/00 Prem season: Sunderland finished 7th.

99/00 season: Division One Play Off Winners - Ipswich (87 pts - only 4 off 1st place)

00/01 Prem season: Ipswich finished 5th, only 4pts behind Arsenal in 2nd place.

04/05 season: Division One runners up - Wigan (87 pts)

05/06 Prem season: Wigan finished 10th

05/06 season: Division One winners - Reading (106pts)

06/07 Prem season: Reading finished 8th

08/09 season: Division One runners up - Birmingham (83pts)

09/10 Prem season: Birmingham finished 9th

Norwich, West Brom and Newcastle all had successful first seasons following promotion. I genuinely believe that we should aim for a top 10 finish. If we win our next 6 games, we will be the strongest side ever at this level and looking at the standard of some of the sides in the lower of the Prem, I think why not. I mean Newcastle are comfortably sat in 9th and have lost 15 out of their 33 games this season!

I can see us doing well next season. I have faith in Pearson in the long run, we just have to make sure we don't panic if things don't start perfectly.

I don't think we'll finish in the top half but I fancy us to stay up.

I think Fulham, Cardiff and Sunderland will go down. I wouldn't mind that - I've nothing against Sunderland but I don't dislike Norwich or West Brom either. Cardiff I hate, for obvious reasons, and Fulham are just boring and have poor support. If we're going into the Premiership I want us to play Premiership sized clubs, if possible.

I think Burnley have done enough, even though they might not be so comfortable after all their injuries. In the play-offs, I think Wigan or QPR will go up. I really hope it's not QPR. Playing Derby in the Prem would be exciting. But at the same time I'd love to leave them down in the Championship for a while.

I'm just looking forward to it....for now at least!

I'm too old to to dream of top 10 finishes. If we can:

a) Avoid relegation

b) Keep Nigel as manager

I shall be very happy. Anything more than this is bonus.

Might as well throw out a ridiculously early prediction so I can look back at this later and mock my own stupidity.

Oh god, all the optimism. I'm going to keep my expectations very low, I just hope we'll stay up and keep Nigel.

It's a weird feeling that for the first time in ages I will be happy seeing Leicester in a safe 17th place.

Remember that "easiest games" thread last season. Can we just ban those kind of threads for next season.

I think our aim is survival; then if we do the next aim is consolidation.
Saying we will finish top-10 is very very optimistic. The PL ain't a walk in the park.
We need to do well in our preparation in the summer and have faith in Pearson!

Our only hope is that the existing players are kept together, we have smashed the division this year so NP needs to be astute if he adds new faces to maintain the team spirit and ethics. If he does that then we could well surprise a few people like Southampton have done and in the past Hull City, Norwich when they went up and Reading a few years ago. The promoted teams that have struggled the most are the ones that went for too many wholesale changes where they felt they were not good enough to stay up.Top half is possible with the quality we have, I loved it when NP said in a recent interview when asked " how long have you been preparing for the premier league?"he replied"for the last 2 Years", this says it all , this team will get the chance to show they can mix it with the best.

I find myself asking what teams do or don't do when they are promoted that sends them straight back down.

If my memory serves me correct, teams that came back down straight after promotion had obvious reasons for doing so.

I have full confidence that:

We have a strong enough squad, with a few new players.

Pearson and the management will make good signings.

We have sufficient funding behind the club.

At the minute I don't have much to worry about.

Like many others have said just to stay up next season would be the aim and a cup run on top would be a bonus

I agree.

I'd like a good cup run. I mean, Hull have got to the FA Cup final without playing a "top" Premier League team (I think they beat Sunderland in one round). Sometimes that's how it goes.

I'd be pleased if we could replicate Hull on the pitch. They haven't been hammered really, sitting solid in the table and are now in the FA Cup final.

i hope burnley and derby/brighton/ipswich come up for us to benefit because i believe we would finish above them, and then our task becomes simple, finish above one current pl team and we stay up.
