Guest LCFC_World Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 Firstly, I would like to thank everyone for there kind wishes. I can confirm that the person was my Uncle, Roger Evans, from Desborough, Northants aged 70, unfortunately he died pretty much there and then from a heart attack. It is a great shock to the family as he had worked that day and hadn't appeared to be in any distress before he left for the game or in the days before. He had been a City season ticket holder for years and loved his football and the club. I'm sure in a way he would have been happy to die in a place he loved and without prolonged suffering. On the subject of perspective, I'm not annoyed by complaints about lack of atmosphere at the game etc., but it is important to remember a fan is a fan and it shouldn't be broken down into - go to every game fan/go to home games STH fan/casual fan/plastic fan/bandwagon fan - we all want City to do as well as they can. Would be lovely if they could and I'm sure the rest of the family would appreciate it, but I would understand if its though not appropriate in this case. I am so sorry for your loss, you must be distraught. At times like this it is important that all Leicester fans stick together and give you and your family all the support you need. RIP Roger Evans x

Bayfox Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 RIP fella. I hope your family can take some comfort in knowing he died in a happy place. hopefully they can do him proud on monday, in the next home game and seal a title in his honour. I hope the club can do something to remember him. I know as I type this there are a few people such as bert and jobber talking on twitter about what could be done.
Larry_LCFC Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 His Grandson has just tweeted about the incredible response received from football fans. When all said and done, we're one big footballing family.

harpendenfox Posted 10 April 2014 Posted 10 April 2014 I'm glad, at least, that Roger experienced the joy of the last few weeks, culminating in Saturday's promotion, before he passed away. Best wishes to his family from a fellow fox
Babylon Posted 10 April 2014 Posted 10 April 2014 Sad to hear, condolences to the family. Made me wonder if it was the Roger I used to sit behind down filbo, used to go down with his wife and would have been around that age.
Guest MattP Posted 10 April 2014 Posted 10 April 2014 RIP, terrible thing to happen. Hope the club can do something and we should ask the FA for a minutes silence at the next game.
surrifox Posted 10 April 2014 Posted 10 April 2014 RIP Roger, so sad to hear this. At least he had seen his team restored to their rightful place during his lifetime and experienced the joy of that.

I am so sorry to hear the very sad news about your Uncle Roger. My teenage son and his friend were stood behind him when he collapsed and were visibly shaken and extremely quiet for the rest of the evening. I commented to my son during the game how poor City were performing and he just replied "It really doesn't matter Dad." My son asked me last night if I could contact the club today to find out if they had any news at all. So it is with great sadness I read this post. This has touched so many fans and as your Uncle Roger was a lifelong City fan and Season Ticket holder and because of the circumstances and location of where this happened, then personally I think it is only fitting that Roger Evans should have a minutes applause or silence (whichever is the families preference) at the QPR game. My thoughts are with you and your family at this sad time.
cityfanlee23 Posted 10 April 2014 Posted 10 April 2014 Would it be worth contacting the club to arrange something in his memory at the QPR game like a silence/applause? I would 100% expect the club to sort something out pre match.... Let's get "ROGER EVANS, HE'S ONE OF OUR OWN" going????
