Leeds_Fox95 Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 I heard toilet blocks in the centre circle..apparently Noel Hunt and his family have turned up outside reception with a load of caravans wondering why nobody's moved in yet....
Happy Fox Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 We need to establish ourselves in the prem first and foremost, I have no doubt in the future that we could sell out 36,000+ we have the fan base imo.
Mark_w Posted 21 April 2014 Posted 21 April 2014 Time to expand the stadium we barely ever sell out?No, no it isn't.
MPH Posted 22 April 2014 Posted 22 April 2014 The owners plan has always been to build a second tier on the east stand but only after a 'few' seasons in the premier league. It will increase the capacity to 40k. And that comes from someone who speaks to the owners regularly.
Dan Posted 22 April 2014 Posted 22 April 2014 You'd like to hope any increase in capacity would come via safe standing.
EnglishOxide Posted 22 April 2014 Posted 22 April 2014 The supports are being strengthened at the end of the season to allow for concerts to be held and to be able to increase capacity. That itself is costing a few mill, when it would have been about 500k if done when the stadium was new. An actual extension wont happen unless we get a very long season ticket waiting list and the owners are sure it makes economical sense i imagine. Depends on the success of the next few years.
Iwan is a Welshman Posted 22 April 2014 Posted 22 April 2014 No. Let's walk before we run, let's be rational and despite Davie G pulling me up on this before (And he's entitled to) but let's settle and become an established PL club first. Not only that let's consistantly sell out what we have first, once that is being done week in, week out maybe it'll be time to expand. I admit it'd be nice to give the stadium a little 'character' give it a tier here and there but if it's a load of empty seats it'd be an eyesore, pointless and not a very good investment. Spot on. No one wants to be playing Barnsley at home in front of 25,000 empty seats. We need 3-5 years continuous top flight football before we even entertain the idea in my eyes.
MattGamble92 Posted 22 April 2014 Posted 22 April 2014 Add a new tier, build a statue of Lineker and O'neill, rename the stadium Filbert Way or The Nigel Pearson Bowl!

Nothing is being strengthened, concerts are being held with reduced capacity and with the stages going into the stand area.

Jakemoore Posted 22 April 2014 Posted 22 April 2014 I think not! We can't even fill what we have now!! Wait to see our average attendances next season and then judge it..
MooseBreath Posted 22 April 2014 Posted 22 April 2014 I am not, which is why I said I would imagine.... But the stadium cost circa £35million to be built from scratch which is about £48million in today's terms I believe so, seeing as the stadium design was such that this expansion could be done quickly and cheaply (with the foundations already in place), I don't see why a £5million figure is such a wild estimate in your eyes - Bristol City and Brentford plan to build completely new stadiums for under £50million £5m is a bit ambitious. The best present example is probably cardiff, who are currently adding 5k seats to a fairly new stadium at an initial estimated cost of £12m. That's very similar to the work our stadium would need so you could expect the same kind of cost. I'd much rather it was spent on players at this point.
Banks Posted 22 April 2014 Posted 22 April 2014 If we stay in the Premier League for a few seasons and sell out consistently then yes the stadium should be increased. It's fine at the minute though.
purpleronnie Posted 22 April 2014 Posted 22 April 2014 I doubt we will fill it too many times next season, 5 or 6 big teams will get capacity, the rest I would expect 26-30k. Not sure it will be worth investing yet, if we get stability then possibly, but atm KP is just about the right size.
Sol thewall Bamba Posted 22 April 2014 Posted 22 April 2014 If we do anything to the KP any time soon, I'd love to see a second tier added to the Kop, then we'd have a South stand double decker again. Its a travesty that none of Filbert Street's features were brought over to the new ground but this is one we could do relatively simply.
lee(lcfc) Posted 22 April 2014 Posted 22 April 2014 our ground is the same as southampton and they can build second teir all round so im guessing we can aswell if we want.

Like rusty flaking paint falling on your head, tiny overflowing toilets and stands the size of a bike shed?
RonnieTodger Posted 22 April 2014 Posted 22 April 2014 Wait to stay up and be in the league for a few years before that. Wolves built that enormous stand behind the goal and went straight down to League One!
Stadt Posted 22 April 2014 Posted 22 April 2014 I would've thought the west stand is too close to the canal to expand on that side.
xHamzah Posted 22 April 2014 Posted 22 April 2014 I just wish they had put seats instead of all that concrete on the side of the pitch
Iwan is a Welshman Posted 22 April 2014 Posted 22 April 2014 I understand the sentiment but you think we're going to be getting 15,000 at home? Early morning maths. Point's the same though. We've had a spectacular season this year for attendances, our lowest in the League is 19,000. But imagine having a 40,000 this season. Week in, week out there would have been (on average) around 15,000 empty seats.
davieG Posted 22 April 2014 Posted 22 April 2014 Like rusty flaking paint falling on your head, tiny overflowing toilets and stands the size of a bike shed? Not forgetting the rainwater leaking through the roof.
john ridley Posted 22 April 2014 Posted 22 April 2014 Like it's been said before , forget about extending , sort out what we've got first , ground needs a good clean up , painting etc also get rid of the faded advertising on the outside .
