AKCJ Posted 23 April 2014 Posted 23 April 2014 What a ****ing brainless twat. The whole Heskey pisstake scene does my nut in. I bet his twitter handle is something like "#KSIARMY TROLOL". Yes he isn't the best player in the world now and nor was he ever, but before ***** like him were born he was a damn fine player.
MPH Posted 23 April 2014 Posted 23 April 2014 What a ****ing brainless twat. The whole Heskey pisstake scene does my nut in. I bet his twitter handle is something like "#KSIARMY TROLOL". Alexikokopops Posted 23 April 2014 Posted 23 April 2014 Maybe he wasn't taking the piss. Yeah, I read it as though he was a fan.
AKCJ Posted 23 April 2014 Posted 23 April 2014 Maybe he wasn't taking the piss. Stinks of sarcasm. “Emile has changed the way the game is played. “He is an experienced, well-loved and all round genius player.â€
kingfox Posted 23 April 2014 Posted 23 April 2014 I want Arnar Gunnlaugsson to be knighted, but I don't go round brandishing a petition.
LanguedocFox Posted 23 April 2014 Posted 23 April 2014 Maybe he wasn't taking the piss. Maybe - but it opens up the possibility of a lot of other people taking the piss out of Heskey. And that makes him a twat either way
Fox92 Posted 23 April 2014 Posted 23 April 2014 The whole Heskey thing annoys me as well. It's usually people who don't understand other parts of football apart from scoring, such as holding the ball up and bringing other players into the game - two of which Heskey was very good at.
johnny the fox Posted 23 April 2014 Author Posted 23 April 2014 Emile will always be a legend here, in our hour of need he stood up to be counted..
Finnegan Posted 23 April 2014 Posted 23 April 2014 Stinks of sarcasm. “Emile has changed the way the game is played. “He is an experienced, well-loved and all round genius player.†We talk about the likes of Ormondroyd, Lowe and Coatsworth like that and obviously hold them in high regard still. Suspect you're being a pinch sensitive.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 23 April 2014 Posted 23 April 2014 I was going to agree and say it was my old school
AKCJ Posted 23 April 2014 Posted 23 April 2014 We talk about the likes of Ormondroyd, Lowe and Coatsworth like that and obviously hold them in high regard still. Suspect you're being a pinch sensitive. I don't think any Leicester fan has ever said that Ian Ormondroyd, David Lowe or Gary Coatcworth changed the way the game was played with a straight face mate.

DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 23 April 2014 Posted 23 April 2014 I don't think any Leicester fan has ever said that Ian Ormondroyd, David Lowe or Gary Coatcworth changed the way the game was played with a straight face mate. No, but they were poor compared to Heskey. However, a Knighthood is well otp. Give one to Gordon Banks, yes. Absolute legend.
Captain... Posted 23 April 2014 Posted 23 April 2014 http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/search?q=heskey&state=rejected Bizarrely enough it is not the only Heskey based petition, along with what I presume is some sort of fuzzy searching logic it also has bringing back national service and releasing dangerous dogs.
Kitchandro Posted 23 April 2014 Posted 23 April 2014 We talk about the likes of Ormondroyd, Lowe and Coatsworth like that and obviously hold them in high regard still. Suspect you're being a pinch sensitive. It is blatantly a piss take. We talk about Ormondroyd, Lowe and Coatsworth like that because they were shit players. Likeable maybe, but shit. Ormondroyd is a joke figure, no doubt about it. We take the piss out of him because he was lanky and shit, but we liked him. These 'campaigns' are a dig at Heskey's ability. For some reason Heskey is a joke figure to a lot of English people. Maybe because he played for England so many times. Of course, there have been much worse strikers in the last 10 years, but they are not the butt of as many jokes.
Hirsty The Blue 94 Posted 23 April 2014 Posted 23 April 2014 Really annoys me when people mock Heskey and he is seen as a 'joke' player. Typical of the FIFA generation of teenagers, absolutely no knowledge about football at all and think because he didn't score many he was a donkey. Same idiots who I hear at the KP taking the piss out of GTF or saying Hammond doesn't do anything. Wider knowledge of the game is needed to understand his contribution and many I'm afraid lack that football intelligence.
Basingstoke Fox Posted 24 April 2014 Posted 24 April 2014 I bet his twitter handle is something like "#KSIARMY TROLOL". This is highly likely.
PAPA LAZAROU Posted 24 April 2014 Posted 24 April 2014 Yes lets start a campaign to get his brother a job as a Police inspector while we are at it.
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 24 April 2014 Posted 24 April 2014 What a ****ing brainless twat. The whole Heskey pisstake scene does my nut in. I bet his twitter handle is something like "#KSIARMY TROLOL". Yes he isn't the best player in the world now and nor was he ever, but before ***** like him were born he was a damn fine player. The whole Heskey thing annoys me as well. It's usually people who don't understand other parts of football apart from scoring, such as holding the ball up and bringing other players into the game - two of which Heskey was very good at. Agreed. I've said this to mates before, that in his days at Leicester Heskey was every bit as good as Benteke and Lukaku are these days. Yet the same kids that make jokes about him would consider them great players. Emile didn't help himself towards the end of his time in England but we always knew that he was a confidence player. To me, it seems that his confidence became a bit shot post-Leicester and that he also possibly lost his way with knowing what kind of player he was meant to be. He went from an unplayable target man who would chip in with 10-15 Premiership goals a season at Leicester to Liverpool trying to make him an outright goalscorer to a left winger for England and then God knows what thereafter. People very easily miss the subtle qualities of Heskey's game and it astounded me that he got so much stick at the last World Cup when his lay-off for Gerrard's goal versus USA was world class. Instead he became a scapegoat. The fact that he's so high in the all-time Premier League goalscorer lists also goes unnoticed, as does what those who have actually played with him say, as does the amount of trophies and awards he's won and money he's commanded in transfer fees. My next point is possibly a little more controversial but I think that with the jibes Heskey gets there's also a subtle, underlying racist tone. I just don't believe that if Heskey was white he'd be ridiculed in the manner that he is. That's not to say that the people who ridicule him are racist or are only doing it because he's black, but I just think there's an element to the way that he's perceived that wouldn't exist were he exactly the same player but white. It's exactly the same with Bramble. Yes, he made a few gaffes and might not have been the best player but he played at the top level for years whilst being this national joke figure. Meanwhile Richard Dunne is scoring own goals and getting red cards left, right and centre but is somehow considered a good defender. Those who actually watch football and understand that a striker shouldn't solely be judged on goals will understand Heskey's worth, the 'FIFA generation' as I call them will continue to make jokes such as this petition.
