Harry - LCFC Posted 29 December 2014 Posted 29 December 2014 If we get to 36 or 37 points we'll probably stay up. It doesn't really matter who is managing the other clubs. Of course it matters. How well the other teams do affects how easy our task is. If West Brom are crap from now on and get 32 our job could well be easier, if they're good and get 42 our job will likely be a lot harder. Sorry to be pushy here but it's just plain wrong to say that it doesn't matter how other teams do. As an example, Burnley's excellent performance last season meant that Derby only made the play offs with 88 (I think) points - a total that would normally have taken them up.
ScouseFox Posted 29 December 2014 Posted 29 December 2014 chris wood just beat lallana to the newcastle job
lgfualol Posted 29 December 2014 Posted 29 December 2014 Wow linesman really bottled that Sterling slap. Wish the Swansea player went down. Could have done with Sterling banned for Thursday.
Harry - LCFC Posted 29 December 2014 Posted 29 December 2014 My Dad and I were saying just before Christmas how late in the season we were and still no sacking. Getting into the swing of things now!
ScouseFox Posted 29 December 2014 Posted 29 December 2014 coloccini odds on fav to be next newcastle manager?!

I know what you're saying but there are only a finite amount of points available and typically the amount needed to stay up is 36 ish. The differential for points required to stay in the Premier league is not remotely comparable to those required to get promoted from the championship (the latter of which fluctuates by 0.33 points per game from 2012-13 to 2013-14 and the former of which hasn't fluctuated that much in any two given seasons ever). This happens year after year after year, no matter how often managers are chopped and changed.
The Doctor Posted 29 December 2014 Posted 29 December 2014 coloccini odds on fav to be next newcastle manager?! That would be Shearer all over again.
Guest Bilo Posted 29 December 2014 Posted 29 December 2014 Pardew lived on borrowed time for a long time at Newcastle, let's be honest. Palace have a squad that is far from spectacular and has just experienced its second managerial change since August. They'll be scrapping right down there come May.

Corky Posted 29 December 2014 Posted 29 December 2014 Sherwood to WBA Pearson to Newcastle Dyche to Leicester Warnock to Burnley Warnock sacked Irvine to Burnley Sherwood walks Warnock to WBA
kingfox Posted 29 December 2014 Posted 29 December 2014 Don't know why West Brom appointed Irvine in the first place, was always gonna be sacked at some point this season.
AKCJ Posted 29 December 2014 Posted 29 December 2014 Everyone saying that Sherwood did well at Spurs is absolute bollocks. He bottled every big game they played and he'll soon realise that every game for a club in West Brom's position is massive. He'll flop.
Benguin Posted 29 December 2014 Posted 29 December 2014 Can we get anything from our encounter? Liverpool seem to be finding form with two on the bounce.
sdb Posted 29 December 2014 Posted 29 December 2014 No Skrtle and hopefully Sterling will be banned (unlikely). They're nothing special but their movement up top will create plenty of chances.
One Legged Beaver Posted 29 December 2014 Posted 29 December 2014 Coloccini is favourite to get the newcastle job. Surely that can't happen can it?
StanSP Posted 29 December 2014 Posted 29 December 2014 WBA say Alan Irvine is one of the 'foremost coaches in the UK' yet have sacked him
SlaneyLCFC Posted 29 December 2014 Posted 29 December 2014 Dyche to Leicester can you imagine the carnage on here if that happened!! Gravel throat would be in his element here if it did happen thanks to the owners many pound notes.

I don't see this as being bad for us.
shailen Posted 30 December 2014 Posted 30 December 2014 Their second goal, a bad mistake from Fabianski made the game more open, because Swansea had to go for it. After that Liverpool were excellent on the counter when they have space to run into. We can't give them that sort of space bacuse they have the players to hurt us.
Osavo Posted 30 December 2014 Posted 30 December 2014 Skrtel being suspended helps us massively imo, he is excellent at attacking the ball from set pieces and we all know that we are hopeless at defending them
MPH Posted 30 December 2014 Posted 30 December 2014 Skrtel being suspended helps us massively imo, he is excellent at attacking the ball from set pieces and we all know that we are hopeless at defending them He could of been the first person to score against us from a defensive header from his own box...
