I have a feeling the club will make a statement of it's intent to stay in the Premier League and make at least 1 high cost player (Marquee). I think it will encourage the rest of the player group and not cause disharmony. All players know that there are some players who are better and deserve more. As well, all the players want the team to stay up and know it will need new and more experienced/expensive players to make that happen. It isn't a lack of faith in the current squad if new higher cost and paid player come in, just a reality of playing in the PL. I am sure we will be pleasantly surprised by who will come in. You don't need to pay over the odds for experienced Premiership players, if experience is what you're looking for (a sentiment which I agree with completely). I want us to do well next season and having a "marquee" signing (sigh, this is not the A-League after all! ) does have the potential to upset the dressing room, with agents players asking themselves why the "newbies" are earning more and for what reason. Crystal Palace have shown that you don't need an overly expensive squad or expensive players to stay up as long as you show commitment and are guided by a manager who gets the best out of his starting eleven and substitutions on the day.

Oh great, only £45k a week now then! and people complained about Kasper being on £30k! Pearson said his signings are going to be unknowns, which means none are going to be marquee, none are going to be any bigger than the rest and none are going to upset the apple cart for being on twice as much wages.

sylofox Posted 23 May 2014 Posted 23 May 2014 How long is a piece of string. Depends on your thoughts/outlook. All I am looking for is a strong squad with a mix of goals (far better than one man getting them) And a defence that can hold it's own. This year is about stopping up next year is about moving forward. Long as we don't get a finish like Norwich did. Be happy knowing we are safe with a couple of games to go.
