AKCJ Posted 9 June 2014 Posted 9 June 2014 That twitter account is fairly reliable actually, check out this tweet 2 years ago. LCFC News @Footy_News12 · 5 Aug 2012 I'm understood to believe that Leicester city have signed Cardiff defender Anthony Gerrard on a 3-year-deal #lcfc #ccfc You have to appreciate the way these ITK twitter accounts talk. I have been told to understand that we believe that we've been given information that that we're expecting news on Barry Hayles' breakfast plans. #ITK #Brekkie
Fox 4 Life Posted 9 June 2014 Posted 9 June 2014 Thought I was in the Nuge thread for a minute..... Suprised this isn't wrapped up by now, maybe other clubs are in the mix
LCCFox96 Posted 9 June 2014 Posted 9 June 2014 If he has completed a medical hopefully this gets wrapped up in the next few days. Good signing and getting another player in early. If this is true considering we have only parted with £800k we have some really talented players in already.
Mark_from_USA Posted 10 June 2014 Posted 10 June 2014 he scored 6 league goals. which when you compare to the goals scored babs posted earlier was the norm. so in a poor side he still got the same as most other scorers. the people on that list are certainly not poor its just peoples expectations are higher and think loads of goals are going to be banged in when in reality there not. Trouble is nobody stepped up for them. After Cardiff moved Odemwingie out to Stoke he did OK. So I think Cardiff was the problem, not necessarily Campbell. He did more damage early when Malky Mackay was there, including a brace to beat Man City. That was his highlight. I think he improves the side, thats enough so sign him on a low fee. Save our ammo for the right player down the line.

The problem with Cardiff IMO was they weren't goalscorers even in the Championship. I seem to remember they only had 1 player who got 10+ championship league goals and that was Heidar Helguson, who they released at the end of the season (that could be a wrong stat I've done it from memory). So even when they went up they weren't goalscorers, didn't create enough chances and when they did didn't take many of them. I'd like to think given the amount of goals we have scored this season, chances created that he has a decent chance of getting quite a few more with us than he did with them.
Tuna Posted 10 June 2014 Posted 10 June 2014 If Campbell asks for a 'relegation clause' - not that he will need it - tell him to fook off Nige.
sylofox Posted 10 June 2014 Posted 10 June 2014 If Campbell asks for a 'relegation clause' - not that he will need it - tell him to fook off Nige. Why we will want a clause about his wage if we did go down.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 10 June 2014 Posted 10 June 2014 Why we will want a clause about his wage if we did go down.Exactly, we have to cut our cloth accordingly to which division we are In
artursteppe Posted 10 June 2014 Posted 10 June 2014 Nige won't sign anyone who is not demonstrating a desire to play for us. If he is talking to other clubs to try and get a better deal, Nigey baby will tell him to 'foxtrot oscar'. I reckon we will have given him a deadline date to decide by.
chicagofox Posted 10 June 2014 Posted 10 June 2014 What would be the point in giving him a deadline? What would be the point in telling him to f-off if he is talking to other teams? Quite frankly he'd be an idiot if he wasn't trying to get the best deal possible for himself. If that isn't us then good luck to him elsewhere.

So if you knew three or four different businesses were interested in employing you, you're telling me you wouldn't find out what each company were offering and try get the best salary package/benefits possible. Just because he's footballer doesn't mean he's not entitled to do the same.

You will struggle to find many players nowdays that will play for a club solely because of the name but dont mean they have less desire to play for us. Any player would want to weigh up there options, the better deal is not always about money either, playing time, length of contract, ideas for the future etc.

Till we have managed 1 or 2 seasons players will view us with caution.

Till we have managed 1 or 2 seasons players will view us with caution. I'm not sure that has much to do what he was saying. Nigel himself said on the phone in that if it gets into a auction he will pull us out of the running for the player, he wants people who WANT to play for the club.

Nigel himself said on the phone in that if it gets into a auction he will pull us out of the running for the player, he wants people who WANT to play for the club. In one way I am glad he does. But would that not mean we will struggle to get some real quality in. And even if it was a bidding war don't mean the player does not want to join us just his club are not happy with the fee. Or him trying to get the highest wage he can. But it still brings me to the point 17 teams will look a better option than the three that came up.

Nigel himself said on the phone in that if it gets into a auction he will pull us out of the running for the player, he wants people who WANT to play for the club. You're being far too literal. Clearly nobody expects a player not to properly weigh up his options. Weighing those up and then signing for City does show a player wants to pay for us surely?
Callabinho Posted 10 June 2014 Posted 10 June 2014 Bumped into a Cardiff fan in Paris, he's spent the last hour trying to convince me how shit he is, he say's he has could have a thousand one on ones and miss them all!
Dan Posted 10 June 2014 Posted 10 June 2014 Ah so that explains why they went down. Imagine how many chances they'll create in the Championship if they created 9,000 in the Premier?

We have a lot of fans that would tell fans of other teams how useless Nugent is so I wouldn't worry.

Some people love to make big, over-the-top statements for some reason. The guy you spoke to sounds like that kind of chap. I'd put more faith in our scouting team having only watched a few games over a football fan. Too many of them want to be dramatic rather than accurate.

So, according to that Cardiff "fan", potentially, Campbell's a 8'000 to 9'000 goals-a-season scorer. Priced at an initial £800'000, I'd take that in a heartbeat.
Guest Col city fan Posted 11 June 2014 Posted 11 June 2014 Typical FoxesTalk... big up a potential signing simply because he might be signing. Beckford and Mills were two great examples of this. Look at Campbell's record of goals-scored in the Premiership. Its poor surely? And someone earlier said that he's been hit by lots of injuries! Great. ..well that's reassuring. Nigel Pearson is a good motivator and he may be able to get the best out of Campbell. But a striker is (usually) only as good as their record. Campbell's, in the Prem, is poor.

I didn't know both Beckford and Mills cost £800'000 each. You do realize a top-notch goalscorer could cost anything in between £5m and £50m. No way the club's going to splash out the cash in such fashion this summer. Campbell has shown he can cut it at the top level. He's played 36 league games last season and scored six times in the process. Not too shabby for less than a million. In comparison, Manchester City's Alvaro Negredo only netted nine times in 32 games last season. He cost the club at least £16m.

True Col, but 800k for Campbell is an absolute bargain. He might not be a 15/20 goal man but he will contribute. I will be hoping Nige has another striker lined up, someone who will find the net consistently though.
