I imagine you were 'underwhelmed' at the signings of Knocky and Mahrez as well!

Yeah I was I had no idea who they were or knew anything about them, what about you did you go crack 1 off to express your excitment?

Got to laugh at the people slating Nigels transfers so far. Albrighton, Hamer, Upson and Campbell if he signs are all squad players to replace the squad players that have left. A combined total of £800k for four squad players who all have prem experience (except Hamer) seems like good business to me. We will sign more exciting players between now and the end of August but to start with these are decent signings. I'm guessing the people who are slating these deals all creamed themselves when we shelved out shit loads of money on Beckford and Mills and look how that turned out!

Agree with this.

totally agree with you mate.. Signing hamer and albrighton on a free is great buisness. I'm not too sure in upson but I have total faith in our management. Signing Campbell for £800000 will be a steal. At the moment we are snapping up our freebies I.e albrighton, hamer, upson and trying to get out cheap deals like Campbell before anyone else try's.

This is probably one of the best posts I've ever read, so true.

Good points. I would also put the signing of Mahrez in the 'good business' category as well.  I see the club as adding experience and people who want to be here to the squad without expending the big cash.  Remember with big cash comes big wages.  Leicester's promotion run was all about teamwork, and they at the moment are one of those rare clubs who are greater as a team than the sum of their parts would suggest.  Players are playing in places where they can shine, and the tactics suit the players.  If we brought in someone who upset the wage structure you may risk that vibe that surrounds the team.  It has to be done over time, as the club establishes itself as a viable PL: side able to stay up for a few years.  Whoever proves they are of the needed quality will rise up with them.

For whatever reason, the owners seem to have found a good football business sense these past two years.  Even fans or other teams I know, who try to be fair about it and not just slag us off, admit they are starting to see Leicester as a 'proper club' doing things right.

Great business. Pacey and hard working striker and the crux is that we now have a manager\coach who will improve and motivate him to be better.

Look what Pearson has ache iced with no league Vardy. Give him some credit.

Good article about Campbell's impeding move

Cardiff City want Fraizer Campbell in Championship attack but are realistic over chances of keeping ex-Manchester United marksman

Leicester lead the chase for Campbell but Solskjaer and chairman Mehmet Dalman have made it clear they would love him to stay

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants Fraizer Campbell in his Bluebirds’ attack next season, but can’t do anything to stop the former England international signing for Leicester City early next week.

The Yorkshireman is a wanted man with Leicester leading the chase to prise him away from Cardiff, but Solskjaer and chairman Mehmet Dalman have both had made it clear to Campbell they would love him to stay.

The decision is Campbell’s after Leicester triggered a release clause in his three-and-a-half-year City contract which still has two years to run.

Former manager Malky Mackay signed Campbell from Sunderland for £650,000 17 months ago and the player’s representatives insisted on an £800,000 release clause.

Foxes manager Nigel Pearson has met that figure, with QPR, Everton and West Brom also showing interest.

Cardiff clearly value Campbell at £5m-plus and will be bitterly disappointed to see him leave for a fraction of that. At £800,000 Leicester would snap up the bargain buy of the close season.

“We have had an offer from Leicester which triggers the release clause,†says Dalman.

“We don’t want to sell Fraizer. Our manager wants him to be part of our squad for next season.

“But we have no choice because of that clause. Fraizer knows how we feel and now we have to allow him to make his own decision.â€

The lure of a quick return to the Premier League will surely be too much for Campbell to turn down,

He has never been prolific at Premier League level – 13 goals in more than 100 appearances – but there is no doubting his ability to be a highly effective forward for newly-promoted Leicester.

Campbell fired six League goals for Cardiff during their first season of top flight football – and Bluebirds fans will never forget his double strike which sent Manchester City crashing to defeat in front of a packed home attendance.

Solskjaer knows Campbell well, having worked with him extensively at Manchester United, and knows exactly what he adds to any team.

Campbell’s phenomenal workrate, intensity and willingness to close down opposition defenders time and again made him the first line of defence and a major player for both Mackay and Solskjaer last season.

Midfield players can go for a pass knowing Campbell will, without question, make the runs needed to help open up the opposition. But will Campbell score the goals Leicester will need to stay in the Premier League next season?

Pearson has big faith in Campbell, but the evidence suggests that he will struggle for goals at the top level.

Leicester see him playing alongside David Nugent, Jamie Vardy or potential new signing Leo Ulloa.

Nugent is out of contract this summer and in talks on a new deal, while Vardy is committed to the Foxes and they are keen to sign Argentinian target man Ulloa from Brighton.

Pearson has had three bids rejected by Brighton – the highest at £3m – and it looks likely they will have to break their club record fee – £5.5m to Wolves for Ade Akinbiyi 14 years ago – to reach agreement with the Seagulls.

Nugent may well move on and Ulloa could yet sign for Leicester, while Pearson sees Campbell, unquestionably a team man, as a crucial signing.

There is serious evidence that Campbell’s best playing days are still ahead of him. He couldn’t play for 17 months from August 2010 until January 2012 after twice suffering major ligament damage which required surgery.

Campbell’s most prolific spell of scoring was in Belgium when he netted 21 goals in 31 appearances for Royal Antwerp, while he looked in sizzling form during Sunderland’s build-up to 2010-11 when he netted six times in pre-season fixtures.

Fraizer Campbell during his Sunderland days

Then he was injured during Sunderland’s 1-0 win against Manchester City in August 2010.

Campbell recovered and returned to full training in March 2011, but then suffered a new, even more devastating blow while preparing for a match against Manchester City during April 2011.

He did return to action for Sunderland, who had paid Manchester United £3.5m for the striker, but he was still working to regain his best form when former Bluebirds boss Mackay brought him to Cardiff for £650,000.

That was an absolute steal at the time, but, at the same time, Campbell’s representatives insisted on the £800,000 release clause and Mackay agreed.

Campbell scored seven goals in nine Championship starts for Cardiff, his first their winner at Leeds United on his debut, and his form was a crucial factor in Cardiff’s title success.

Now, though, Leicester are chasing a bargain buy and hope to conclude talks with the striker early next week, while Solskjaer has fingers crossed.

He is realistic and knows Campbell is likely to opt for Premier League football, but there is a tiny hope that his strong relationship between the two men, initially built during their days at Old Trafford, means he could yet stay and help Cardiff in their bid to be promoted again.

It does, though, seem highly likely Campbell will sign for Leicester next week and Cardiff will feel fed up at having lost a star striker for less than £1m.

Imagine being a slow defender with Vardy and Campbell closing you down all the time.

No chance he's going here. Defo leaving Cardiff though. West Brom maybe if they hurry up and get a manager in. However if Everton make a bid which is rumored then I expect him to go there. Would like him back at United though. Was a mistake to sell him. Can be world class if he actually has service to him and Sunderland and Cardiff didnt provide this

lol lol
