Nuge contract talks stall..

Think of the money we are saving

That's a good point. Poor old Nuge can't have been paid this week. And with a wee bairn to feed too. Pray for Nuge. Perhaps we need to have a whip round.

Its Ok. Pompey will cover it.

Maybe we're playing hardball. Many people complaining that we spunk too much on wages anyway. Surely the only reason it's dragged on is due to length of contract and wage/bonuses.

We need to keep Nugent. I think he'll be one of best players next season. As he has been in the previous two.

I know nothing about this but I am aware of players in other clubs that have signed contracts that haven't yet been publicised. One in particular where I was told two players had signed deals, one has so far been publicised and the other hasn't.

It could be that 4/5/6 players signed together and they've drip fed it as news - Drinkwater/Schmeical/James/Morgan/........Nugent?

I love Nuge and think we will need him in the prem BUT no player is bigger than the club and a productive strike force will give us a chance to sta y up.So if this is not sorted by early next week we should move on. The whole thing is stupid. He not be training with us if he has not signed a contract!!

Agreed, find the criticism of him utterly bizarre to be honest

Some people have forgot how bad his performances were, barely upto championship level, which is why I'm disappointed if we've gave in to a 3 year contract. I suggest reading a few player ratings threads from the latter end of the season if this news delights you -

Some games he was really awful, but he would be a big loss to the team.

Needs to work on his chance taking for the Premiership, everything else is great.

Edit. Looking at those match ratings, it's crazy how many "Not his day" ratings he got. Man, if he has many of them next season it'll be hell.

Yeah let's totally ignore all the games when he was the match winner. I don't doubt he has his ineffectual games but I think he's been a great player for us overall and I just get the sense he's a massive character to have around the club. I know that isn't any basis to give him a new contract.

I'm thinking your forgetting how poor the collective performances where in the latter end of the season

In the threads you helpfully posted Nugent was actually better or equally rated then people are saying that who will do well in the premier league

Maybe you should have a read of this http://www.foxestalk.co.uk/forums/topic/94619-players-ratings-for-the-season/?hl=ratings

Four games don't make a season

He clearly has signed a new contract with us, else he wouldn't have been training with us.

Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one on FT with a bit of common sense...

You can prove anything you like if you pick the right sample. Clearly you're being selective and have brought up the games that showed what you wanted to show. The fair way to do it would be to look at the season as a whole, not individual games. But of course you aren't interested in being fair.

I honestly just picked 4 random games, avoiding the Brighton one for obvious reasons. I'm not going to fetch more up but I wouldn't be surprised if half the games last season read like that.

I said the exact same thing a couple of days ago
