I honestly can't see this happening. Both Cardiff and West Ham were in for him in previous seasons, even after he was 'unsettled' last season he didn't come to the Premier League.

 

Sure, he's a tremendous player, but 31 years old and never played in England? I'd hope Nige wouldn't waste the money.

Although I think some are under estimating the draw of the Premeir League and I'd view this as unlikely but not completely impossible, and if he can reproduce his best on English soil he'd be a great purchase. 

 

It's a gamble though and there's every chance he'd struggle here, for me there are two leagues you've got to be very wary of recruiting players from as a Premeir League club, ones the Eredivise the other is the Primeria Liga, there have been a lot of flops from them both, and 12 million is astronomical for a 31 year old.

 

Before I get the idiots coming in with the Ronaldo/Suarez replys, I didn't say every player that comes from those leagues flop

The 5 mil pound fee mentioned in the last few posts is much more likely than the 12 mil Benfica said he is worth. He would be a fantastic acquisition for the team.  His coming to Leicester will give comfort to other high profile players to consider coming as well.

 

If this does happen, he is the sort of Sexy recruit every fan has been hoping for.

Cardozo would be a fantastic signing for us. The price tag worries me a little bit though. I think ability wise he is worth £12mil fairly comfortably it's just his age. Whilst in the short term that £12mil price take is fine we would likely only get 2-3 years use out of him. That being said he is a top quality player and probably worth that gamble.

Paraguayan striker Oscar Cardozo is widely tipped to leave Benfica at the end of the current campaign, according to the player’s official representative.

The highly rated forward has lost his place in the starting line-up at Estadio da Luz and he is likely to leave in search of first team football.

The player’s agent has now moved to suggest that he do expects his client to quit Benfica at the end of the season.

“I think in June it will be a good time for a transfer, if possible,†agent Pedro Aldave told Radio Cardinal in Paraguay.

Cardozo’s representative then revealed that his client had been the subject of interest from England, Qatar, Italy and Turkey.

Oscar Cardozo joined Benfica in 2007 from Newell’s Old Boys and has since become one of the most prolific scorers in club’s history, having bagged 110 goals in 171 league outings.

However, the 30-year-old has been playing second fiddle to Brazilian Lima this term and a summer exit appears on the cards.

His goal scoring record is phenomenal both in European competitions and the Portugese league.

£12 million is bloody steep! He's good but he isn't a world beater.

Of course he isn't a world beater. If you wanted one of them expect to spend well over £30m

We need to be ambitious and buy a striker who has a very good record at top level.

He is exactly what we need, and i really don't think it would be a waste. If he could get 15+ goals he then could become priceless with us avoiding relegation.

What would you prefer, us to be "safe" which we do actually have available and buy a below average striker for a lot less who doesn't have a great record in the prem or someone who has a good record in the championship?

The main area where I want us to splash out and spend is on a striker. It's very rarely you unearth a top quality unknown striker who can cut it in the prem on the cheap.

Let's be ambitious and try and sign him!
