MikeyT Posted 1 June 2014 Posted 1 June 2014 Some account on twitter called "football fan cast" is reporting Barry is set to sign for us after we "blew both west ham and Everton's offers out of the water". So basically we're not getting him Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk He calls him Gary Barry.
Leeds_Fox95 Posted 1 June 2014 Posted 1 June 2014 He calls him Gary Barry. Good player that Gary Barry, he's got 85 pace on FIFA so he's bound to be good... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Carlos88LCFC Posted 1 June 2014 Posted 1 June 2014 I'd love this. He would be a massive help for Matty James development and also a key player on the pitch. 2nd best English holding midfielder IMO (behind SteveyG) was surprised he didn't make the World Cup. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
fleckneymike Posted 1 June 2014 Posted 1 June 2014 I really do not know why we have so many fans who seem so frightened to dream. Such a bunch of no-hope pessimists. You do not have to respond by calling yourselves realists, I don't want to read your drivel. I prefer to hope and dream, the way some Man City fans did a few years ago when they just managed to beat Gillingham at Wembley.

Weren't you one of the ones calling yourself a realist whilst demanding Pearson got sacked.
Babylon Posted 1 June 2014 Posted 1 June 2014 I think you're missing his point, (or maybe I am). Just dream, don't rationalise it or prepare yourself for a fall, dream of the big signings, dream of winning cups, even the league one day because while you're looking at these reports thinking it's not going to happen or I'll be happy with 17th you're taking the edge of the excitement, just think what if? When we got promoted under O'Neill I dreamed of success and people we'd do well, they laughed and told me we'd be lucky to stay up. I had one hell of a time while others were always looking for it to come to an end. It did and it was always going to, but I wasn't going to let that ruin my fun. You seem to be suggesting that anyone who didn't "dream" of great things didn't enjoy the O'Neill era?
Vlad the Fox Posted 1 June 2014 Posted 1 June 2014 I'd love it if we could adopt this song, would sound fantastic if all the KP joined in and it is the kind of song that is well known enough and liked for all four stands to join in with.

Vlad the Fox Posted 1 June 2014 Posted 1 June 2014 You seem to be suggesting that anyone who didn't "dream" of great things didn't enjoy the O'Neill era? No not at all, but there was enough people who would always try and put a dampener on their emotions rather than just going along with the flow and whatever happened. The same kind of talk we get today, Elliot from Oxford, not good enough, muzzy who? Walsh past it, we were lucky last season and well struggle. They enjoyed the success but always seemed to be living in fear of the failure waiting for them around the next corner.
Jace Posted 1 June 2014 Posted 1 June 2014 Leicester City are 100x bigger than Gareth Barry its not like we are trying to sign Cristiano Ronaldo
fleckneymike Posted 1 June 2014 Posted 1 June 2014 Leicester City are 100x bigger than Gareth Barry its not like we are trying to sign Cristiano Ronaldo You pessimist, why shouldn't we sign Ronaldo, dream big God damn it!
Vlad the Fox Posted 1 June 2014 Posted 1 June 2014 I'll be starting that in l1 next season, who's in? It's original and no other club sings it, palace don't, do they?

Before being bought out by a mega rich tycoon meaning that really it was down to luck. Anyone who thinks otherwise is deluded.

It just might happen, you know....
Kinowe Soorie Posted 1 June 2014 Posted 1 June 2014 Maybe, just maybe Pearson could sell him Leicester City and his project? Who knows? Not us, that's for sure!! That's my real name. Not Gary Eatfood then?
Gary Eatfood Posted 1 June 2014 Posted 1 June 2014 Maybe, just maybe Pearson could sell him Leicester City and his project? Who knows? Not us, that's for sure!! Not Gary Eatfood then? Nah, that's just what I thought was an almost witty pseudonym.

Hack Posted 1 June 2014 Posted 1 June 2014 There's a difference between being a pessimist and a realist. You can hope and dream all you want, but prepare to be let down sometimes and probably in this case. A player like Barry could attract interest from about 13 or 14 teams in this division. His wages will be an issue, having been on a reported £100,000-£120,000 contract at Manchester City. He knows that that contract was a once in a lifetime. He is 33 and still a very good player. But he will know that no one is going to pay him Man city money. He will get from someone and hope it is us a very decent contract for probably 2 years with a club option on a 3rd.

I'm not sure that's the same as thinking Barry signing for us probably won't happen. From my experience the ones on here that talk about "thinking big" and "dreaming" are the first to slaughter players, management etc when their dreams aren't met instantly.
