Fox92 Posted 1 June 2014 Posted 1 June 2014 I honestly reckon we will get him, he has a home in the Midlands area if I am not mistaken. At West Ham he wouldn't get many opportunities. So it could be us!!!!, if it is out of West Ham and City. Yes he would. You're talking about a player that has just been brilliant all season for Everton.
Happy Fox Posted 1 June 2014 Posted 1 June 2014 Yes he would. You're talking about a player that has just been brilliant all season for Everton. Ahead of Mark Noble, Diame, Kevin Nolan etc? where would he fit in? He would be guaranteed starter with us no question.
leicesterisme Posted 1 June 2014 Posted 1 June 2014 Ahead of Mark Noble, Diame, Kevin Nolan etc? where would he fit in? He would be guaranteed starter with us no question. He'd fit in above any of them, lets not be silly. He'd be a guaranteed starter in pretty much every side bar the top 6 or 7 teams.
Babylon Posted 1 June 2014 Posted 1 June 2014 Until a reputable journo confirms it, to me it looks a lot like one of those rumours that just gets passed around, with more and more people repeating it, making it look more and more cosha. I'm calling bullshit.
st albans fox Posted 1 June 2014 Posted 1 June 2014 It totally depends on what Everton are offering him, he won't want a one year deal. If we offered him a two year deal with the possibility of a coaching role at the end then it could be an offer he can't refuse. This, if he has ideas about staying in the game and going into management. Alternatively, if he just wants to earn as much as possible and then put his feet up and do media work then he'll go to the boleyn. He strikes me as a fairly intelligent footballer so it could be a possibility. ( i expect he he has earned a fair amount over the period of his man city contract).
One Legged Beaver Posted 1 June 2014 Posted 1 June 2014 I'd have to question his sanity if he did come here to be honest.
Danno Posted 1 June 2014 Posted 1 June 2014 I'd have to question his sanity if he did come here to be honest. Why? We are probably offering him more than Everton who most likely won't do as well this year since they have lost Lukaku and Deulofeu, and West Ham are no better than us, only narrowly avoided relegation last season and play horrific football.

I'm calling bullshit. Totally agree. Only when and if it hits the merc I will start believing it.
dedlock Posted 1 June 2014 Posted 1 June 2014 http://www.eastgrinsteadcourier.co.uk/West-Ham-Leicester-challenge-Everton-Tottenham/story-21172613-detail/story.html (Doesn't really tell us anything we don't know) Probably doesn't but how often has the East Grinstead Courier been quoted as a source?
sphericalfox Posted 1 June 2014 Posted 1 June 2014 No thanks. would you like to elaborate? Is it the money, or his capability?
theessexfox Posted 1 June 2014 Posted 1 June 2014 Why? We are probably offering him more than Everton who most likely won't do as well this year since they have lost Lukaku and Deulofeu, and West Ham are no better than us, only narrowly avoided relegation last season and play horrific football. Might not do as well but will almost certainly do better than us, plus are in Europe... why are we probably offering him more than Everton? Have to agree with Babylon.
Bluetintedspecs Posted 1 June 2014 Posted 1 June 2014 Totally agree. Only when and if it hits the merc I will start believing it. I'll have some of what you've been smoking
fleckneymike Posted 1 June 2014 Posted 1 June 2014 If Everton are offering him a one year deal on a smaller wage than us offering him a three year deal "at his age" then he's straight out the lloyd dyer handbook on his way here. I can't envisage us offering anyone over 30 more than 1 year, let alone a 33 year old. Everton reportedly wont offer him more than 50k (which represents a significant drop on his current 100-120k), if we do have a 30k wage ceiling then he's still best taking one year at a top 6 side than a 2 year deal at a bottom 6 side.

artursteppe Posted 1 June 2014 Posted 1 June 2014 I really do not know why we have so many fans who seem so frightened to dream. Such a bunch of no-hope pessimists. You do not have to respond by calling yourselves realists, I don't want to read your drivel. I prefer to hope and dream, the way some Man City fans did a few years ago when they just managed to beat Gillingham at Wembley.

artursteppe Posted 1 June 2014 Posted 1 June 2014 Just like Pompey fans hoped and dreamed? Well Hello, Essex boy, that says it all anyway! No, I said like the Man City fans, or can't you read, Man City fans, not Pompey.
artursteppe Posted 1 June 2014 Posted 1 June 2014 Just like Pompey fans hoped and dreamed? The point I was making, which obviously went over your head is that the dreams DID come true for the Man City fans, it therefore is OK to dream and hope, not be so Anally Retentive because you dare not dream. ( Even this is probably beyond you anyway ).

And the point I'm making, is that you have to balance dreams with caution if you want to be sure not to end up like Pompey, or the dangerous situation QPR would be in had they not won at Wembley, or the mess we were in post-Sven before Pearson cleared it up. Even this is probably beyond you anyway.

Leeds_Fox95 Posted 1 June 2014 Posted 1 June 2014 Some account on twitter called "football fan cast" is reporting Barry is set to sign for us after we "blew both west ham and Everton's offers out of the water". So basically we're not getting him Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

You can hope and dream all you want, but prepare to be let down sometimes and probably in this case. A player like Barry could attract interest from about 13 or 14 teams in this division. His wages will be an issue, having been on a reported £100,000-£120,000 contract at Manchester City.
Jace Posted 1 June 2014 Posted 1 June 2014 I still can't believe we signed Jermaine Beckford it still feels like some kind of crazy dream where we are massive
Vlad the Fox Posted 1 June 2014 Posted 1 June 2014 I think you're missing his point, (or maybe I am). Just dream, don't rationalise it or prepare yourself for a fall, dream of the big signings, dream of winning cups, even the league one day because while you're looking at these reports thinking it's not going to happen or I'll be happy with 17th you're taking the edge of the excitement, just think what if? When we got promoted under O'Neill I dreamed of success and people we'd do well, they laughed and told me we'd be lucky to stay up. I had one hell of a time while others were always looking for it to come to an end. It did and it was always going to, but I wasn't going to let that ruin my fun.
