promised land Posted 11 June 2014 Posted 11 June 2014 It will be Chelsea, home or away, 4pm on a Sunday. I thought the current league champions played at that slot on the first weekend, I read it somewhere not sure how true. But if so it will be Man City on at 4pm Sunday. I'm not fussed who we get, we play them all twice but three points on the board is more important.

Out of interest just checked this, it intrigued me (I've got far too much time on my hands.) United played on the Saturday last season. Chelsea v Hull; Palace v Spurs and Man City v Newcastle were the televised games. On that basis, if we don't want to be moved then it'd be best if we avoided a top seven club.
Guest Bilo Posted 11 June 2014 Posted 11 June 2014 First Game - Manchester United (H) Boxing Day - Chelsea (A) Last Day - Stoke (H)
LAprice_ Posted 11 June 2014 Posted 11 June 2014 I really don't want an easy home game because anything can happen on the first day of the season and if, by some fluke, we lost 0-1 to someone like Burnley, it would really knock our confidence. At least with a top team, there's less pressure on us
Dan Posted 11 June 2014 Posted 11 June 2014 Think - Everton at home Want - A beatable side at home, such as Villa, West Ham, Newcastle, Burnley, QPR etc... Avoid - Chelsea or Man City away. We've waited 10 years for this - fvck the return being a game we'll be both hammered and absolutely ripped off to the extent I probably won't go. Absolutely love fixture day.
LCFC FOX Posted 11 June 2014 Posted 11 June 2014 I want a home team first game as I'm away for a week over the weekend on the 22nd and I really don't want to miss a home game!
fuchsntf Posted 11 June 2014 Posted 11 June 2014 I would prefer and love to get one of the top four....logical reasons. Over the years, its happened regularly, where some the top teams have had slow starts. To grab a point or even 3 from an under cooked title chaser, would be a great bonus. Plus 1 game less against a top side, and stealing points. Man city, Chelsea away. The other positive, it would keep the pessimists and negative posters, nothing to yarp about.
Deucalion Posted 11 June 2014 Posted 11 June 2014 Hope it's away. Regardless, I'll be watching in a bar in Olu Deniz.

At least with a top team, there's less pressure on us We've won all of our four opening day games under Pearson, I refuse to believe that's a coincidence. If we get one of the easier teams I think there's a good chance we'll get a positive result, as we have in his previous seasons in charge.
Raj Posted 11 June 2014 Posted 11 June 2014 Are they DEFO out next week? What day? Im more excited about this than the World Cup???
AKCJ Posted 11 June 2014 Posted 11 June 2014 One thing I really want is for us to be on a Gary Lineker presented Match of the Day for the first match.
MC Prussian Posted 11 June 2014 Posted 11 June 2014 #ThistotallydivertsfromtheWorldCup# Looking forward to the new fixtures and hope we get a couple of the tough teams out of the way early.

We've got a strangely good record on both the opening and final day I've noticed.
