Things like that ruin the game. He'd beaten the defender and had a clear sight on goal but chose to buy a penalty instead of take a great chance to score. It might be clever but it's just as bad as a dive in my book.
marko Posted 13 June 2014 Posted 13 June 2014 It's clever. Everything you say is correct but I think if you go by the rule book it's a penalty. How? Costa clearly stood on the defender's foot. At no point did the defender make contact with Costa when he went for the challenge.

And I thought the Premiership was bad Before the WC I watched quite a few of those programmes on BBC2 showing highlights of old world cups in the 50s and 60s. The standard of football was obviously lower than today, but there was none of the embarrassing diving, playacting etc that we see every single game now. The worst thing about it all is that the referees are spineless and play right into the cheats' hands. They more often than not give the dodgy penalties, and they ALWAYS stop the match when somebody is blatantly feigning injury holding their face or some other childish shit.
