The other 2 may have to play 90 mins of every game for a month, 6 weeks 2 months, 3 months, regardless of form. Just 3 wingers is risky.

AND we'll be losing Mahrez in January for the African cup of nations.
lc4lcfc Posted 20 July 2014 Posted 20 July 2014 We do definitely need a winger. It just occurred to me and I haven't seen it mentioned. If schlupp as expected starts the season as first choice, and he gets on well, we might lose him to the Ghana squad... That LB seems slightly more necessary now.

I agree 100% would love us to make a move for Adoamoh (I think you spell it) from Middlesbrough. Only as an impact sub but he could be really effective & I've heard he's a leader which Nige would love.

I think this is a good point and is probably the plan, see how this team does and see where we need to strengthen more in January.

Nige has already said he's been knocked back on a few deals. I'm sure the club are finding it very hard to bring in the right players at the right price. No point signing players for the sake of it. If the right players aren't available then we go with what we've got. We don't want to go back to the Sven days and just sign players for the sake of it. Remember Pantsil, Ball etc.plus we may look for some loan deals, but the big clubs may be reluctant to loan players out until they've brought in new players. I can see us bringing in one or 2 loans before the window shuts.

Having a relatively small squad last ywas ear one of the reasons we were as successful as we were in my opinion, same goes for Burnley. We're playing 8 fewer games this season (depending on the cups) and we've got a good track record when it comes to player fitness and avoiding major injuries. As we destroyed the Championship last year, I think it's safe to say that the quality is there as well. We don't need to panic about only making a few additions to a really strong squad.

Seems as though Pearson's looking at Schlupp to be the fast winger, but I agree we need another or we'd be left with only two in January–one of whom seems injury prone and the other wildly inconsistent. We also need a full back to cover both sides and a striker I'd say.

We also need a full back to cover both sides and a striker I'd say. I agree. However, I thought the use of Schlupp there was more or less a lack of options as much as anything. Not that he did too badly though, but I'd like to see more of a specialist available at this level.

Posted 29 August 2014 Posted 29 August 2014 He can still be in the squad and out on loan, unless we sign someone better Logan or Smith will be named in the squad then loaned out and recalled should we have an injury to Hamer or Kasper (god forbid). To be honest I would use our freebie (Moore) to get another CB in we have cover upfront with 4 strikers, Schlupp and GTF and if we do suffer a major striker injury crisis we can revert to a 4231 But priority for me now is RB, we need cover if RDL gets injured we would have to play Was or Moore at RB and the other at CB, and with Upson out injured we would have no cover. RB and CB to add to the squad, or a good old fashioned utility player would be good, we have options if any of our wide players or strikers get injured, but we can't put out a patchwork defence.

With Logan out on loan, Moore as u/21 and including last nights addition of Cambiasso we have 4 places currently available. I can see 3 of those being used on a striker -looks like it could be N'Doye - a midfielder - looks like it could be McArthur - and a defender. Agree with regarding the other deals happening quite quickly though. Doubt Pearson will want to hit deadline day without all his targets hit. Not sure we'll get another winger though. Lots of fans seem to want one but I can see us getting another striker, like N'Doye, and then just using Schlupp as 4th choice winger as well as left back cover or if push comes to shove using Nugent or Vardy out wide.
