MooseBreath Posted 12 October 2014 Posted 12 October 2014 Shades of Beckham against Greece as world class Wayne single handedly saves England once again. And people say he's just a big pair of tits.
Vacamion Posted 12 October 2014 Posted 12 October 2014 I thought that was not going to come. Phew. Work tomorrow would have been unbearable if we drew with 10 man Estonia. Please don't concede.
The Doctor Posted 12 October 2014 Posted 12 October 2014 Watching this in a pub, and I've realised why I dislike people: "Rooney is pointless because he never scores" - the days of a no 9 who just moves between the edges of the penalty area is long gone. Never mind that he doesn't even play as an out and out striker. It's like drinking with the drop nugent crew
StanSP Posted 12 October 2014 Posted 12 October 2014 Papers over some seriously large cracks today. We've been fairly poor. Sounds quite negative but I wouldn't say any of our players have been above a 6.5/7 out of 10. But you know Rooney will be heralded as some kind of saviour despite his whole performance being dog shite.
Ashley Posted 12 October 2014 Posted 12 October 2014 Great to see Leicester have travelled yet again to an away game. Brilliant following even some posters off here have gone good effort lads

But you know Rooney will be heralded as some kind of saviour despite his whole performance being dog shite. Anyone who sees him as a saviour for this is a cretin. He's been one of the worst performing players today (though more involved than the likes of Welbeck who's done nothing) and his free-kick, whilst decent, was as much down to poor goalkeeping as his overall quality. Really shit performance from England today regardless of what happens from here. Seen it all before.
ScouseFox Posted 12 October 2014 Posted 12 October 2014 de gea in for spain, casillas dropped after his hilariously shambolic display on thursday. interesting times for spain and casillas.
ScouseFox Posted 12 October 2014 Posted 12 October 2014 we've had 3 shots on target all game against a 10 man estonia
Guest ttfn Posted 12 October 2014 Posted 12 October 2014 These games tell us nothing about England though other than that we find it difficult to break down sides that defend deep. The game, as all of our games are in this qualifying phase, is a virtual irrelevance for us. We'd be better off filling up all of our friendly dates with games against Holland, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Belgium and Portugal and treating them as the "competitive" fixtures and trying new things out/resting players in the qualifiers. Realistically we need probably 9 points from our last 7 matches, which includes home games against Estonia, Slovenia and Lithuania and an away game in San Marino. The time to experiment is these games.

lgfualol Posted 12 October 2014 Posted 12 October 2014 Rooney would make Conrad Logan look like Neuer
ScouseFox Posted 12 October 2014 Posted 12 October 2014 the whole world on england -1 just broke the tele
foxfanazer Posted 12 October 2014 Posted 12 October 2014 This might sound really bad and I'll probably get slated for saying it but I feel I have no emotional attachment to the national side. I'll watch the game because I'll watch any football but to be honest I couldn't really give a stuff whether we win or not. Don't know if it's the constant disappointment or just international football in general. Don't get mw wrong I loved the world cup and always want us to do well in the tournaments but it's not even a millionth to the way I feel when I watch City. There's no nerves before games, no excitement during them and no disappointment when we lose

The only way I'll enjoy watching England again is if a Leicester player was on the pitch.

There's no nerves before games, no excitement during them and no disappointment when we lose I feel the same way really. Maybe the problem is that 80% of the games are ones like these, against lesser teams that we just seem to see off quite unspectacularly. It'd be like Leicester permanently playing slightly dull teams in the League Cup.
Leicesterpool Posted 12 October 2014 Posted 12 October 2014 To be honest the last three games have shown what such a poor easy group we're in. Okay two of that three we've not been at our best but come away with maximum points. Hodgson needs to look at the striker options only naming three against two weak opponents is shocking.
ScouseFox Posted 12 October 2014 Posted 12 October 2014 anyway, a win's a win. 9 points from 9. to put that into perspective, spain, germany, holland, portugal, switzerland, ukraine, bosnia and sweden are just some of the sides to have already dropped points just 2 or 3 games into this qualifying stage. yeah these games should be a piece of piss, they should be 3 points a time and sometimes the performances are uninspiring but at least we're winning. unlike everyone else...

If they want to shift tickets and can't leave Wembley the team needs to provide something to make the effort and expense worthwhile.

There's no nerves before games, no excitement during them and no disappointment when we lose To be honest, I don't think it's bad and you shouldn't be slated for saying it. I think it's becoming fairly widespread, I know I don't really care about England either, it's nothing but constant disappointment, lack of effort, 'big name' players from 'big clubs' getting the nod ahead of in form players from less fashionable clubs. What does England mean to me? England is picking weird formations to try and fit as many 'stars' as possible into the starting lineup. England is playing as individuals instead of a team. England is ITV. England is Adrian Chiles and a panel of 'experts' offering the most unimaginative, useless 'analysis' anyone could imagine. England is friendly games where nothing of any importance happens. England is Wayne Rooney, man, myth, legend, our number 1 player, our captain, our inspiration, our undroppable hero giving it his all. England is fecking tedious. So what is the football fan left with? All you can do is not care, because if you did care it would be absolutely soul destroying.
