johnny the fox Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Seems to get no credit on here, thought he was immense today, for a bloke who has had very little game time in the last year, he literally ran himself into the ground for the cause today... fair play.
Raw Dykes Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Not literally - otherwise the Chelsea groundsman would have had a job on his hands. I agree, though - he certainly doesn't get the credit he deserves. Maybe all he needed was a run in the side.
Sol thewall Bamba Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Him and Konch got written off by a lot of people including a lot of us on here before the start of the season and so far they've both had two good games. Dean especially is a brilliant professional, reminds me a bit of Chris Powell for some reason!
Stuliasz Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 He thrives in defensive situations. Last year we were generally looking to go forward, dominate possession and create chances and he simply wasn't up to the standard of the other midfielders in that respect. When we needed a defensive minded player, he came on and did that job, and so far he's done it superbly this season against two teams we'd expect to be on the back foot against.
Charl91 Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Honestly, I thought he was a bit of a nothing player who would never cut it in the prem. Yet he's been fantastic in both games so far, all credit to him. I hope he keeps it up - the partnership of him and king could be fantastic.
Guest Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 I'm glad that people are actually reviewing their thoughts on the guy. Was our best player on the pitch in the first half and that's saying something. Drinky and James are better but that just shows our great depth in CM at the mo.
Webbo Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 How long's he out for? Didn't Nige say it was just severe cramp? Should be fit for next week.
Harry - LCFC Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Didn't Nige say it was just severe cramp? Should be fit for next week. Oh good! Nice to hear that
Vicki Vixen Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Drinky and James are better but that just shows our great depth in CM at the mo. If ever there was an example to illustrate why we don't have great depth in CM, bringing on GTF to play there at Stamford Bridge must be it. We need far more depth in CM especially as we will look to play 5 in midfield away from home.

Tielemans63 Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Happy to say I was wrong about him. I thought he was too one-paced to be effective. I would point out that we are only two games in to the season though.
KFS Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Hold my hands up today. I posted in the pre-match that I was worried at the prospect of him starting. We really missed him when he went off.
broughtonblue Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Can't really see how any of us can have a fair opinion of him, last year he couldn't get into our 'championship' team because of better players/ different tactics. After Drinky went off against Everton I was worried, but he stepped up. Only time will tell,
Clever Fox Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 He has been magnificent this season along with King. Hammond could also do a job at right back if needed. His reading of the game was excellent and he was super confident in possession. The experiment of playing GTF in midfield was a disaster today anyway.
MPH Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Can't fault him today or against Everton when he came on..... Nothing like the threat of another DM coming in to spur you on.....
kingfox Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Just watched the game, absolute quality today and I think it's fair to say we looked a bit weaker when he went off, Chelsea started to create more. One particular through ball for Mahrez I think it was, in the first half was majestic.
STUHILL Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Just watched game of the day on Sky and Hammond was MoM. Absolutely brilliant and not only just in defence but also picked out some nice attacking passes. Could be very handy coming on for us or filling in for injuries this season. Cambiasso who??
allotment-fox Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 A man of metal just the job for our midfield when numbers are low he steps up to the plate been working well with Andy King
Bamba's Babes Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Hammond has been very assured and hasn't looked out of place. Most definitely proved me wrong and well done. Hope he is able to keep to these standards. Deanoooo!
Richard Posted 23 August 2014 Posted 23 August 2014 Has really made the step up which pretty much none of us thought he was capable of doing. I'm sure he's superb to have in the dressing room, I remember hearing an interview with him after a game in pre-season and talks like a coach, the guy knows his onions and must be a good influence on Drinkwater and James who are still only young lads
