AoWW Posted 3 September 2014 Posted 3 September 2014 Saw this film for the first time today. I don't know if it's the sort of thing lots of people have seen or not but it certainly left an impression on me. I make no apologies, it's hard-hitting, but all drivers should watch it, imo. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R0LCmStIw9E
FoxesAreBlue Posted 3 September 2014 Posted 3 September 2014 Good post - still see so many people using their phones, as if life will stop if they don't ignore it - it pisses me off
ADK Posted 3 September 2014 Posted 3 September 2014 Definitely shows the consequences of allowing women to drive
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 3 September 2014 Posted 3 September 2014 Hard hitting but it's the only thing that will make some people stop being complacent. But even a video like that won't make some (probably a lot of) people stop being complete cvnts behind the wheel.
Lionator Posted 3 September 2014 Posted 3 September 2014 Automatic driving ban if caught with your phone. It wont happen then.
ozleicester Posted 4 September 2014 Posted 4 September 2014 ever since the "fappening" im distracted no matter what.
broughtonblue Posted 4 September 2014 Posted 4 September 2014 Good post I was thinking if it had shown the outcome, wheelchairs, funerals etc it might have been even more hard hitting, but I suppose if you don't get the idea from what's already there then a bit more footage isn't going to help.
Fox92 Posted 4 September 2014 Posted 4 September 2014 Smoking is as bad. But yeah, phones are so dangerous. I don't get why people do it, surely something can't be that important to risk yourself and others?
cambridgefox Posted 4 September 2014 Posted 4 September 2014 Spending most of my time on the road it amazes me how many people still on their phones.Hands free kits are relatively cheap and still people don't bother.Texting,I see people coming the other way looking down,it's so obvious they are playing with their phone.1 month immediate ban and smash their phone up in front of them.Shame you couldn't link the phone to the insurance and triple the tariff. The amount of hand gestures I have to give out I'm surprised I haven't got some sort of repetitive strain injury or a repetitive strain injury( repeat until funny)

pSinatra Posted 4 September 2014 Posted 4 September 2014 Smoking is as bad. But yeah, phones are so dangerous. I don't get why people do it, surely something can't be that important to risk yourself and others? You've said this before. How is smoking as bad? Is changing the CD as bad? Drinking? Picking your nose? Scratching your arse? If so, we're all going to hell.

Samilktray Posted 4 September 2014 Posted 4 September 2014 If you spark you're cigarette before you start driving then you have no need to take your eyes off the road if your smoking when driving. Not condoning it but I can't see how smoking & driving is as bad as texting whilst driving.
cambridgefox Posted 4 September 2014 Posted 4 September 2014 Do you use your third hand to do this thus maintaining 2 on the wheel? No,the car is in complete control with one, although when I'm eating a yoghurt and do it,it takes the gesture to another level.
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 4 September 2014 Posted 4 September 2014 Smoking is as bad. But yeah, phones are so dangerous. Next time you're driving just put one hand to your face every now and then, there's no thought process to it. It is irritating when the driver in front's fag butt bounces off your car/motorbike helmet/face (has happened to me) but smokers are nowhere near as big a risk to other road users as phone users. Using a sat nav is a bigger distraction than smoking There's no way you can drive effectively and text at the same time. Some people won't learn until they get a nice big mouthful of dashboard though

Some people won't learn until they get a nice big mouthful of dashboard though There's no chance of my hand falling off though is there. A person could easily drop a ciggerate. Also, I don't care about the thought process, it's still a distraction. Driving requires maximum attention at all times, doesn't matter how long you've been doing it.

You could be a leper for all I know Smoking is probably a distraction, but it's not enough of a distraction for it to really be a problem. Smokers aren't looking at their cigarette
Raj Posted 4 September 2014 Posted 4 September 2014 anyone who texts or uses a phone whilst driving should be jailed. no one can drive and concentrate whilst on the phone...even women
Buce Posted 4 September 2014 Posted 4 September 2014 Automatic driving ban if caught with your phone. It wont happen then. Yeah, that really put a stop to drinking and driving..
ScouseFox Posted 4 September 2014 Posted 4 September 2014 What if I can text without looking? Am I sound then?
Fox92 Posted 4 September 2014 Posted 4 September 2014 Smoking is probably a distraction, but it's not enough of a distraction for it to really be a problem. Smokers aren't looking at their cigarette It is a distraction. No probably about it. There are a lot of things that can distract, and I'm not going to rate them saying this one is worse than this one. They are all equally as bad, and the end result can be death.

Not essentially disagreeing with you but I reckon the last 50 years have proven that driving doesn't require maximum attention very often at all. If it did they'd be accidents on every road every 5 seconds. I don't think ANY driver gives maximum attention to driving even through 1 entire journey.
