iamafox Posted 13 September 2014 Posted 13 September 2014 I told my Dad if Hamer keeps a clean sheet today, he should start the next game. Apart from his kicking, his performance proved that.
Monsell1976 Posted 13 September 2014 Posted 13 September 2014 His distribution frustrated the **** out of me, but those saves at the end were brave, great saves, if he sorts out how to kick a ball in play, we have to good keepers.
Daz93 Posted 13 September 2014 Posted 13 September 2014 I think Kasper will come in. Having previously played over 140 consecutive games for us, being imperious in goal for most of those games and committing his future to us in the summer I see no other option. Hamer came in in the summer on a free, as a backup 'keeper. Kasper is the #1 and that's just how it is.
Mad Dog Posted 13 September 2014 Posted 13 September 2014 Er. Kasper will obviously walk back in, and he deserves to. Hamer did what we want; made great saves when called upon; but his all round game is not at the level of Kasper, whose distribution is as good as we've had for a long, long time to compliment being one of the best shot stoppers in the league.
foxfanazer Posted 13 September 2014 Posted 13 September 2014 Looked an accident waiting to happen after 10 minutes but something seemed to click for him and he came to collect crosses with a real confidence. That save at Moses (I think) feet was brilliant. Well done Hamer, Kasper will obviously get straight back in though and rightly so
Hack Posted 13 September 2014 Posted 13 September 2014 Will he now keep Kasper out of the side?.. Nige is always reluctant to change a winning team! To answer your question, Yes Kasper will come straight back in! Hamer did very well as his backup but if fit Kasper is the first name on the team sheet. I do think that performance shows we are not doomed if Kasper is out as Hamer is a more than capable deputy for him.
Freesolo Posted 13 September 2014 Posted 13 September 2014 Well done Ben! must be feeling great keeping a clean sheet and being in the team that picked up the first win of the season
Soar Fox Posted 14 September 2014 Posted 14 September 2014 I think Kasper should go back in goal next week purely on the fact Oadby owls under 9's are walking out with the team. Some bloke wants his his lad to walk out with Kasper so that swings it in his favour.
UpTheLeagueFox Posted 14 September 2014 Posted 14 September 2014 Some good saves from Hamer but, if fit, Schmeichel will almost certainly come back in. I'd be staggered if NP doesn't make a change.
Harry - LCFC Posted 14 September 2014 Posted 14 September 2014 I think he commands his area better than KS. This has always been Kaspers one weakness. Hamer needs to work on his kicking though I can see BH keeping his spot, this is how Pearson likes to manage. I agree. Kasper's injury worked in our favour IMO, we needed our goalkeeper to come out and collect today - Hamer did that pretty well on the whole, not sure Schmeichel would have.

Said exactly the same thing on the way home. Not sure about his kicking though.
Littletoe Posted 14 September 2014 Posted 14 September 2014 Kasper is our number 1, he earned it. Ben has set the standard and raised the bar today though. Could influence both keepers to stay on top and keep our goalkeeping system healthy, well done on today lad!
MPH Posted 14 September 2014 Posted 14 September 2014 Kasper will probably miss a couple more games. If Hamer goes all zombie scitzo clean sheets man of the match on us then that could make it harder for Pearson. He's always said he doesn't like changing a winning team so let's see if he sticks to his word.

lee7 Posted 14 September 2014 Posted 14 September 2014 I only watched the highlights on sky sports yesterday so I do not know how accurate my opinion is but from what I saw hamer fully deserves to keep his place in the team. He made a few good saves especially the double save towards the end which earned us the 3 points and throughout the game he seemed to claim the ball fairly well from crosses/corners. So for me kasper starts on the bench next week just like Drinkwater has had to due to Hammond and king playing well! So until hamer makes a mistake he should keep his place in my opinion.
LCFCFOX6190 Posted 14 September 2014 Posted 14 September 2014 If fit kasper has to start. As good as ben hamer was, his distribution is not near the level of kasper's. Also, I'm sure Kasper has been dreaming of playing against United.
CloudFox Posted 14 September 2014 Posted 14 September 2014 Found out last night that a friend of mine used to be in the same class as Hamer at school! Amusingly he said he knew was a decent footballer, but had no idea he was a 'keeper!! Listening to his post-match interview on Foxes Player he seems very down-to-earth and humble. He jokes he should have caught Diouf's shot to prevent the chance of a follow-up for that double-save he had to make haha. Great to have competition for Kasper at last. Let's hope he continues to go from strength to strength to keep it up.
Beliall Posted 14 September 2014 Posted 14 September 2014 yeah i enjoyed his interview, i think he kept it short as those mowers were getting closer
suffolk fox Posted 14 September 2014 Posted 14 September 2014 Hamer made some good saves today and was assured in claiming crosses. However he did kick the ball straight out of play 4 or 5 times. That's about the same as Kasper then
cjslcfc Posted 14 September 2014 Posted 14 September 2014 I don't think people understand this. Goalkeeper tends to be the only position where you have a definite number one. If Kasper's fit, he's not going to be sitting on the bench. Hamer knows he has come here to be number two but one good game doesn't suddenly mean he starts ahead of our main man who, until yesterday, hadn't missed a league match since 2011. I'm very happy with how Hamer performed yesterday (and his beard) but I can't see him starting if Kasper is available to play.
Beliall Posted 14 September 2014 Posted 14 September 2014 more importantly, kasper knows he has serious competition and can be replaced

He hasn't missed a league game since then because he's had no competition.
Lestoh Posted 14 September 2014 Posted 14 September 2014 Kasper's distribution is too important to the team, he's like an 11th outfielder. I was impressed with Hamer after thr initial struggle, but when the big teams roll in, I choose Kasper every time.
