NewquayFox Posted 25 September 2014 Posted 25 September 2014 Have we ever had a player in the Vardy mould before? I know Speedie & Roberts could mix it and score but without Vardys pace..... Who would he compare with, thoughts on any player in the past for City or anyone else.......
Mint23 Posted 25 September 2014 Posted 25 September 2014 Paul Dickovs about as close as I can ever remember
foxpleasure Posted 25 September 2014 Posted 25 September 2014 struggling to think of anyone... Julian Joachim?
davieG Posted 25 September 2014 Posted 25 September 2014 Gary Coatsworth https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YiU6v5PmYxY
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 25 September 2014 Posted 25 September 2014 Reminds me of Dickov a bit, but he's infinitely quicker than Dickov ever was. He's basically a combination of Dickov and Joachim with a touch more quality.
NewquayFox Posted 25 September 2014 Author Posted 25 September 2014 Dickov first time round is a good call, Coatsworth was just a beast, rumour has it that in the tunnel before one of our Wembley finals one of our opponents wished him good luck and he roundly told him to F**K off ha haaaaa, focused or what.....
fuchsntf Posted 25 September 2014 Posted 25 September 2014 Sinclair, Goodfellow, Stringfellow when he was younger and fit. Farrington, L.Glover, R.Fern not forgetting K.Weller. Even Lynex and Lineker (no slow coach our garry)
SystonFox Posted 25 September 2014 Posted 25 September 2014 People putting Vardy and Hume in the same breath. Imagine
Stadt Posted 25 September 2014 Posted 25 September 2014 Hume was shite, scored occasionally in a poor side but it doesn't make him less shit.
Dickov22 Posted 25 September 2014 Posted 25 September 2014 Hume was shite, scored occasionally in a poor side but it doesn't make him less shit. No he wasn't. Not suggesting he was anywhere near Vardy's level. But he wasn't shite
SystonFox Posted 25 September 2014 Posted 25 September 2014 No he wasn't. Not suggesting he was anywhere near Vardy's level. But he wasn't shite He was shite. He worked hard. Still shite
ScouseFox Posted 25 September 2014 Posted 25 September 2014 People reckon he's eclipsed Dickov yet? vardy will be better for us than dickov was but right now not quite. both played major parts getting us up, dickov scored a few but didn't quite manage to keep us up. if vardy scores (and plays) consistently like he can we will comfortably stay up and he'll be a major part of the reason why, and that'd put him ahead of dickov for me.
NewquayFox Posted 25 September 2014 Author Posted 25 September 2014 Weller was a different sort of player and my all time fave, pure skill and scorer of fantastic goals but not prolific, used to run at defenders with the ball and created room for the great Frankie Wortho....
sylofox Posted 25 September 2014 Posted 25 September 2014 People putting Vardy and Hume in the same breath. Imagine Yeah lol Hume run through a brick wall. Vardy I'll use the door unless I am in the peno box.

WTF would he be worth now aged 25/27? My hero and I loved Lineker. The only player I have seen that could rip a player a new one see the perfect pass and know when to let it go. Oh and a sense of humour in his game sadly missing now from the players and the fans. The one player from my past I would so love to see now as a 25'27 year old. Step forward Mr Keith Weller.

Stadt Posted 25 September 2014 Posted 25 September 2014 Hume was an average championship player at best, so he was shit.
