Eastwellfox Posted 28 September 2014 Posted 28 September 2014 First Nugent, now Kasper. We lose and people start pointing fingers at individual players. Is this going to happen everytime we lose? FFS. was about to post the same comment but you beat me to it. !
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 28 September 2014 Posted 28 September 2014 I agree we should give Hamer a game. Kasper wasn't all that good yesterday, but nine others were as bad. However, I can see no harm giving Hamer a start, as he is a decent keeper. Poor start, I know, but a great game last time out, which will have given him confidence. On top of that, it will be good for Kasper to realize he just doesn't walk into the team automatically.
Dickov22 Posted 28 September 2014 Posted 28 September 2014 In my opinion had Schmeichel played against Stoke we wouldn't have won. Hamer came and dealt with a lot of crosses that Schmeichel would have been stuck on his line for. They have very different qualities as keepers. Kasper really needs to improve from set pieces though else he'll be found out consistently at this level. I agree with that, but it's always been his weakness and he never seems to improve it.
Stadt Posted 28 September 2014 Posted 28 September 2014 If Schmeichel could deal with crosses effectively he wouldn't be here at Leicester, you're all basing this on the back of one performance against Stoke which was Hamer's Premier League debut.
Sir Fynwy Posted 28 September 2014 Posted 28 September 2014 It was the zonal marking system that caused the problems at Palace, lots of big players getting a run on static zonal defenders wasn't going to end well, a more flexible approach to the way we defend corners and free kicks when it suits the opposition would mean that Kaspers weakness in this area isn't exposed.
Burbo17J2 Posted 28 September 2014 Posted 28 September 2014 A misleading statistic given all 3 in the win were unsaveable. He definitely had two covered... RVPs header without the deflection looked like he would've had that and the Herrera goal... Without that DEFLECTION (He didn't mean it) it was either going wide or being a comfortable save for KASPER
Unabomber Posted 28 September 2014 Posted 28 September 2014 OK, I'll bite. Of course you can. But obviously not both in goal and one of them needs to be wearing an outfield players shirt not a goalkeeper shirt. Folk as old as me may remember Les Sealey, sub keeper for ?west ham? in the days of only 2 subs being on the bench, coming on and playing up front. I meant both of them playing in goal and we sacrifice an outfield player (such as Nugent)
ScouseFox Posted 28 September 2014 Posted 28 September 2014 we don't even need a goalkeeper for burnley ffs they have juke and marvin sordell up front. moore as sweeper keeper imo and knocky in for kasper.

Actually yeah I agree with this, why am I even thinking about playing 2 goalies it's burnley for goodness sake. Knocky for Kasper seems logical but I'd make him wear his white summer hat as the summer seems to have been prolonged and it might be quite warm/bright.
pleatout Posted 28 September 2014 Posted 28 September 2014 I meant both of them playing in goal and we sacrifice an outfield player (such as Nugent) In that case nope. Law 3 - The Number of players says A match is played by two teams, each consisting of not more than eleven players, one of whom is the goalkeeper. A match may not start if either team consists of fewer than seven players.
Fox Ulike Posted 1 October 2014 Posted 1 October 2014 Are you allowed to play 2 goalies if you sacrifice an outfield player? (serious question) No. No you're are not allowed to play 2 goalies. No.
Monk Posted 1 October 2014 Posted 1 October 2014 what is the point of having a backup keeper if not to possibly replace the man in the team? You mean, like we have for the best part of the past decade with Conrad Logan as the backup?
Walshy5 Posted 1 October 2014 Posted 1 October 2014 I think some people are forgeting how shakey Hamer looked in the first 30 minutes or so against stoke.
HankMarvin Posted 4 October 2014 Author Posted 4 October 2014 The star jump Kasper did for the 1st goal doesn't inspire much confidence maybe the original post wasn't as absurd as some thought!!!
Rincewind Posted 4 October 2014 Posted 4 October 2014 No. No you're are not allowed to play 2 goalies. No. A goalie can't play in an outfield position? not that it is a good idea. I am sure they may have done when fewer subs were allowed.
lgfualol Posted 4 October 2014 Posted 4 October 2014 Schmeichel is still the best we've got but he really doesnt know what to do when balls go across the goal. Think he doesnt want to get a boot to the head or something.
The Doctor Posted 4 October 2014 Posted 4 October 2014 A goalie can't play in an outfield position? not that it is a good idea. I am sure they may have done when fewer subs were allowed. they can play as an outfield player (david james played up front once), just not as an extra keeper

Think he doesnt want to get a boot to the head or something. Don't think our defence helps. We always seem surprised that people cross it high from set pieces, never quite ready to clear it. Seems strange, because our open play defending has been really strong this season...

Seems strange, because our open play defending has been really strong this season... That's been the case all of last season as well - we seem fine so long as the ball is on the floor, but once it's in the air we struggle - I think schmeichel not being confident of taking aerial balls worries our defence, which results in him needing to do it more, which shows his lack of confidence again. Vicious circle really
Jace Posted 4 October 2014 Posted 4 October 2014 Hank Marvin was right all along! 1st time I've ever been pissed off with a decision Schmeichel has made but judgement was awful with that free kick today
Matt Posted 4 October 2014 Posted 4 October 2014 Think Schmeichel needs to be looking over his shoulder now, and that's coming from someone who was abit on edge when it was announced Hamer was coming in against Stoke. Kasper flaps way to much and is quick to blame others. I think a few games on the bench could do him good and show the competition amongst players and positions is serious. Call it knee jerk if you like, cos I know some people will.
