Tielemans63 Posted 4 October 2014 Posted 4 October 2014 I think collectively it was a pretty dire performance. Can't blame it on just a couple of players - Ulloa was abysmal, Moore was shaky, Vardy made poor decisions, Knocky was anonymous. A bad day at the office for most of our boys I'd say.
The Doctor Posted 4 October 2014 Posted 4 October 2014 Don't think Dowd was that bad against us. Thought he favoured us but the Trippier injury stands out. Schlupp shouldn't have had a penalty. He's pushed Trippier over and it was a free-kick to Burnley. We can't blame the referee for our points dropped today. There were plenty of opportunities to deny Burnley a way back in to the game and we didn't do it. Now I disagree completely - at first viewing I thought if we'd been the defending side and got a free kick there I'd be laughing and asking how on earth. That to me says it was a penalty
StanSP Posted 4 October 2014 Posted 4 October 2014 Now I disagree completely - at first viewing I thought if we'd been the defending side and got a free kick there I'd be laughing and asking how on earth. That to me says it was a penalty If you get to watch it back, you see Schlupp clip Trippier and he goes down.
lgfualol Posted 4 October 2014 Posted 4 October 2014 I thought the whole team were super until they changed formation. Sad that Nige couldn't see that. Wake up call for everyone.
Dickov22 Posted 4 October 2014 Posted 4 October 2014 Thought Burnley played well. Despite lacking much quality, they worked exceptionally hard and stopped our flow. We need to defend better, and make better use of situations in and around their penalty area. Nugent had a couple of great opportunities to pick out players in the box when we were 2-1 up but he failed to deliver. Kasper's positioning for the free kick absolutely criminal. He left half the goal wide open. All Wallace needed to do was pick his spot. Unbelievably poor.
jimmeh Posted 4 October 2014 Posted 4 October 2014 Swansea drew at home 2-2 against a side level on points with Burnley.
kingfox Posted 4 October 2014 Posted 4 October 2014 The Trippier injury was a fookin farce, having the stretcher going across the pitch instead of off & round took the biscuit. Some players need to take a hard look at themselves for their performances today, but that Trippier injury was a shambles.
chapero82 Posted 4 October 2014 Posted 4 October 2014 our defence needs to learn to be stronger in the air, great on the ground but in the air we are pretty poor
Stadt Posted 4 October 2014 Posted 4 October 2014 The two players that scored were put back in the starting line up by Nige, we should have gone for the jugular second half but we say back too much and allowed them to put too much pressure on us.
Guest Posted 4 October 2014 Posted 4 October 2014 True. We should just throw games away, they mean nothing right? Where did you think we'd finish this season? Where did you think we'd be after 7 games.
fuchsntf Posted 4 October 2014 Posted 4 October 2014 Fans were shouting for Nugent and James to be brought on, and that Mahrez was looking tired. So then the fans criticism on the subs, seems some just like chasing snowflakes. ANOTHER 2 GOALS against from a team who despite heavy injuries shown more nous and fight in midfield. Nigel Pearson even at this early stage, needs to question his players why they delivered such a performance and lacked, any intuition and spark in the last 15 minutes. We allowed a 2nd 11 to out fight us, and after 3 subs, those subs came on mentally unprepared. We have played only 7 games, forget we are 9th, by the eow, most likely 12-14th. Its how we have played, while dropping 5 pts against teams we are really competing against, with 2 pretty well below par performances. Team selection, no complaints for NP, but midfield didnt get off the car park, needs to be said 'again' and this time no injury problem selection. Forget Kasper ,our whole teams defending again has been poor, silly loss of ball while attacking. No, some players havent yet taken on the discipline needed for the PL.Make no mistake this was 2 points dropped. Are our top 2 midfielders match fit, or is James and Drinkwater still struggling. What we should take from these last 2 games, is simple Like Warnock and Dyches teams, more fight and character. We dont want to lose the momentum, and ground gained from the 1st 5 games, through underrating the task in hand, todays 2nd half to me on tv seemed lackluster, and poor positioning. Our subs seemed to show their presence alone was enough for 3 points.
Collo73 Posted 4 October 2014 Posted 4 October 2014 Schmeichel deffo at fault for first goal as didn't leave his line yet again and possibly for the second although was a very good free kick. I don't do scapegoats and dont want any negative trash but I believe hamer should be given a chance. All in all I thought Burnley deserved their point today thoroughly
Livid Posted 4 October 2014 Posted 4 October 2014 I just think the team and subs he selected today were set up to take the game to Burnley. That never happened, It would have been fine if we had been a couple of goals up and cruising or needing to chase the game but we needed Cambiasso to come on steady the game and do the simple things well. Thing's just didn't go according to plan.
JonnyBoy Posted 4 October 2014 Posted 4 October 2014 What about Nugent? How many times did he fail to put a meaningful ball into the box with no pressure? he could curl a free kick into our net and our fans would still w*nk over him
Fox92 Posted 4 October 2014 Posted 4 October 2014 Wow. Some people get so defensive. We've had some great performances and results this year, but that doesn't take away the fact that today we weren't good enough. Are we not allowed to criticize anything after a poor match?
Paulmot Posted 4 October 2014 Posted 4 October 2014 Nige had plenty of opportunity to make meaningful substitutions, but none changed the game. Hammond off - James on - Like for like. Nugent off - Ulloa on - Like for like. (only in that they are strikers) Mahrez off - Knockaert on - Like for like. None changed the game or played better than their predecessors. Once Sordel came off for Boyd, Burnley looked like they'd score with their 4-3-3 absolutely taking the piss out of our 4-4-2. Drnikwater and Hammond were totally outrun and needed a calming influence that James usually provides. I'd have taken Knockaert off, and i'm not joking. He's done nothing and I wouldn't have any regrets if we shipped him out on loan. He's not good enough i'm afraid. Now Kasper, both goals were your fault. You've not stepped up like we assumed you would. You need to get your head out of your arse and realise your position in the side isn't a god given right. What you were doing for that freekick, i'll never know. You might as well not bothered diving because you were never going to reach anything that went to the left of the centre of the goal. Wallace only had to life it over the wall and it was in. I personally say that Hamer comes in for the next game. I have to agree the first was defo poor keeping and the freekick wall setup was all wrong It's pretty ****ing frustrating that you have to watch a half of football and see nothing done about the problems that are so painfully obvious. We've lost and drawn to Palace and ****ing Burnley. Jesus christ, let that sink in. The thing is that Vardy should have pushed the ball past the player on a couple of occasions rather than dribble Now Phil Dowd, you fat bellend. Why couldn't you just grow a pair and tell Trippier to move 3 ****ING FEET to get treatment off the pitch? I'm sorry, Burnley might have lost him but they gained about 5 minutes of added time. They're not in danger of losing this time because, rightly, the referee paused his watch. But we lost out, because when 7 minutes is announced the crowd goes quiet, the players start getting nervous and we lose concentration. I think it was poor control of the trippier incident I'm sorry, but that was absolutely painful viewing. Sort it out because that bollocks is neither acceptable, nor good enough for a side that wants to stay up. If we had held out I think the assesment of the game would have been less harsh Regardless as to what people say there are no gimmes in this league I think simpson and de lat should both play with Mahreez being used later in the game Sclupp and Konch work well together despite the schlupp detractors beliefs. the biggest problem is when your keeper who kicks long can't kick accurately 3 times good open space to hit and failed
lee7 Posted 4 October 2014 Posted 4 October 2014 I can't be too critical as I was not at the game but I completely agree on the Schmeichel point. I said this after the stoke game that Hamer should keep his place! Hammond covered for James in the first few games and played out of his skin so therefore he kept his place! Hamer comes in for Kasper and does exactly the same yet gets dropped for the following match! It just doesn't make sense!
sdb Posted 4 October 2014 Posted 4 October 2014 Like for like subs when we're leading? What's wrong with that?! Not seen the goals back but it's fair to say Kasper's not really won us any points yet this season. That said, i'm not sure he's lost us any either (may change my mind after MotD - surprised he stayed on his line for the 1st) Dowd...eh? He was alright I thought.
EGBFitness Posted 4 October 2014 Posted 4 October 2014 How was the first goal Kasper's fault? What about Wes Morgan for being nowhere near any of the runners (namely Kightly) coming through? What could Kasper do? Think it was Koncheskys man
EGBFitness Posted 4 October 2014 Posted 4 October 2014 Typical City, overachieve in the big games and underachieve against the teams we could earn a win. Some strong periods of play but as a whole looked a little shaky and nervous. Little worrying that we seems to struggle leaking goals, would like to see Hamer given another chance as believe KS hasn't done much so far this season and defence doesn't look organised/confident at the minute with him
Dickov22 Posted 4 October 2014 Posted 4 October 2014 Why not James for giving the free-kick away? Why not any of the attackers who didn't kill some time but instead lost the ball in Burnley's half needlessly? Why not the wall for doing their job either? Did any of them jump? Their job is to cover that side of the goal, no? I'm sorry but there's no defence of Kasper for the goal. It was absolutely pathetic from him.
Callabinho Posted 4 October 2014 Posted 4 October 2014 I'm going to come in and defend Kasper, No keeper in the world is going to save a free kick from that range if it hits the target. It's easier then a penalty to be honest, hit the target and it's in.
Collo73 Posted 4 October 2014 Posted 4 October 2014 I think the majority on here agree hamer deserves a chance. And why is that such a problem for some of you? Outfield players are changed all the time so why is a keeper so different? I dont believe any of us are say kasper is Crap but we now have a very decent 'other' keeper who now deserves a chance. Not the best today but still a mother point on the board. For the record I believe kasper was at fault for both at palace ( yes I was there) and at least the first one today.
suffolk fox Posted 4 October 2014 Posted 4 October 2014 What does that even mean? That you can't think of a counter argument? That wasn't good enough. It needs to be realised. Brushing these problems to the side can quickly escalate. Look at how a lot of teams recently promoted have gone to bollocks after a good start. We can't just say "but we beat United and drew to Everton and Chelsea" because we've now lost to Palace and Burnley. We've had a tremendous start but we need to keep our foot on the gas before we start losing more and more. That wasn't good enough and the team needs to work together to put it right. The next game is now "must not lose" IMO. Top post this. You are right you need to beat the teams who will be around you come the end of the season anything else is a bonus. So far we have 1 point from Burnley and Palace neither of which are very good.
