I've been off the road for over 2 years, and just got back to driving about a month ago. I'm convinced that headlights are brighter now then they were when I was last driving. It really is dangerous to be squinting to get by every other car.

Don't squint - just focus on the nearside of the carriageway so either the kerb or a grass verge

Massive vans parked on corners of small streets

yes, million times this. it it like a car crash waiting to happen when turning in to those streets.

Are speed humps a cure for hiccups or are garages so desperate for business they've persuaded the city and county councils to drum up business?

I agree it makes for slightly slower driving in some cases but it also makes for motorists driving down the middle of the road so their cars make a gentler passage over the highway alps.

Quite amusing when drivers travelling in opposite directions take the same line.

But it's an ill wind. I spent three days with severe back pain a fortnight ago but the local road humps seemed to fix it a treat.

No idea why, but it made me wonder if the biggest humps will draw pilgrims like the waters of Lourdes! :D

Couple of years ago I was following a bloke who decided to take the middle of the road at each speed bump on Humberstone Lane. A Tesco Lorry coming the other way just carried on his side of the road and pretty much took the side of the blokes car off lol Obviously not at fault because this bloke had practically driven over to his side of the road and into him.

Brake lights seem just the same. I was behind a lorry with six brake lights the other day - every one shining bright as an Amsterdam welcome. Visibility was measured in miles at the time - for all but the people following who were probably forced to look anywhere but where they were going! It's as if lights are being used like capital letter sentences on computers!

People who don't indicate, and then suddenly slow down and turn.

You've actually seen someone indicate? Did you get a video? Can I buy a copy? Can I have your autograph? (It's for my mate).

You shou be grateful it's only speed humps. The area of London I live in they've taken to putting in bollards that are at best 2cm wider than the width of an average car. I guess this is to try to slow down traffic and prevent trucks entering residential areas, but it only serves to scratch and dent cars.

I will vouch for the brighter lights now argument. Especially 15 plate cars. This year's models seem to all have different types of lights and they are blinding! I came over the brow of a hill yesterday and the car coming the other way was a 15 plate car with stupidly bright lights I had to excessively slow down to avoid crashing. On the little lanes in devon where there are no alluminations on the side of the road to tell you where the ditch is, these lights are only going to make accident rates go up dramatically.

I saw an old h reg Nissan micra the other day. It's lights seemed a completely different colour to today's lights. No matter the Intensity being far less. Hate this time of year for driving. Especially when it's raining and dark. The add mist and fog into the mix then it's an almighty nightmare!

Speed bumps on Middleton Street. Then Wigston lane.....i'm sure the council is trying to bugger my cars suspension up coming from Braunstone Lane to Wigston!

I feel your pain, I need to do that route every day to get from Braunstone Lane to Wigston, damn things I now travel down mad mile and soar valley way to avoid them.

More cars now are fitted with auto dimming headlights and this maybe the problem?

I get flashed now a bit to lower my headlights, which shows the system takes a split second longer to kick in than if you did it yourself.

I had a merc that had the same system previously and I am not sure it's the way to go.

If you lower your lights yourself, you tend to do it when you first see a shadow of light, whereas I think the inbuilt system only lowers the lights whenever it sees a light.

Woman this morning behind a school bus, pretty much right up against the back of it and swings out into the opposite lane to overtake it. Of course muggins here is in the opposite lane just about to pass said bus. I had to emergency brake, she reverses to get a better run up and as I turn and call her the acceptable words as I pass her window she has the temerity to have a go at me? Amazing  lol

Police van trapping speedsters at Wolvey. Honestly at a time when there's so much danger of real crime I wondered why were they after erring motorists along one of the sleepiest roads in the area over lunchtime?.

There wasn't a pedestrian to be seen when I passed. Not a soul either in the village or outside. Later the camera was set up in the countryside where tractors do a good job of holding up anyone wishing to venture past 30mph.

There's a crossroads in Wolvey and traffic lights in Ansty just down the way.

With tractors, travellers or plant hire vehicles so often in between you'd usually need a Tesla to reach 60 quickly enough in the brief window of opportunity available to even get out of second gear.

When it comes to speeding past 50, the road could take a crib from the Sharpe series and be known as The Forlorn Hope"!

Perhaps that's the reason they were there. Either to catch the few lucky souls who got a clear run and couldn't resist celebrating with the right-hand pedal - or to spot one of those new Tesla's!   :D .

But if you're going past a car in the opposite direction, and you're both going about 50, surely there's a problem if the safest thing to do is to basically look the other way?

Another thing to consider reagarding headlights: when parked on the right hand side of the road facing oncoming traffic, even briefly such as nipping to the shop or waiting to pick your mate up, please think about turning head lights off and leaving sidelights on. In this situation the angle of the headlights being to the left of the car means that oncoming vehicles are dazzled by headlights if they're left on.

May seem pedantic but it really does cause a problem.

Exactly. Especially on little lanes. Is it wide enough? Who bloody knows? The car ahead has what may as well his full ears on meaning I can't see a thing. I think Il just stop and wait for him to pass.

It's horrid. Also these brighter lights in mist and fig seem to just spread across the entire line of site you have. Like a lightning bolt, it happened to me earlier. Couldn't see a thing.

There was an accident this morning. Two expats out for a run, both got hit by a car, one died instantly. The other is in emergency, in a country with one of the worst healthcare systens.

The cowardly driver drove off. Cvnt.

People who are in such a hurry they feel the need to pull out in front of you from a junction, but then suddenly decide they are no longer in a hurry and proceed at 35/37 mph in every road, no matter the speed limit. "Raaaa! If your not in a hurry! Why did you pull out in front of me causing me to slow down!?"
