Dan Posted 1 November 2014 Posted 1 November 2014 Completely missed his elbow. They didn't take any retrospective action against Aguero for his stamp though.
StanSP Posted 1 November 2014 Posted 1 November 2014 I'm not sure about the elbow, Wasyl has this habit of using his arm to block people off and sometimes it's borderline as to whether he's using his strength or giving someone a whack with the forearm. Commentator was going nuts but it didn't seem that clear cut that it was deliberate or there was much force involved. One for the FA to look at. Aside from that, Wasyl is a better central defender than Liam Moore, Moore may become better but right now Was has the better positioning and reading of the game. He was able to snuff out West Brom attacks where Moore would probably been caught in two minds and I don't think we'd have played the offside trap anywhere near as effectively with Moore playing. What would be ace is if Liam could play left back, as Konchesky is a weak point in both defence and attack, an honest player but one who was never suited to the more modern attacking full back role and who is down on pace. Was definitely deliberate. He could have carried on jostling/running by his side without the need for the elbow and still have the ball. Agree with the rest of the post. Love Liam and think he's started well but you could tell Was is the more experienced individual by a mile.
st albans fox Posted 1 November 2014 Posted 1 November 2014 Will be interesting to see if MOTD make anything of it. If they don't, he could get away with it. I had a wager with my son that Was would get a yellow by minute 14. I guess it says much about how much pressure we were actually under that he didn't get one at all.
GingerrrFox Posted 1 November 2014 Posted 1 November 2014 Arguably our best player on the pitch today. Both Was and Wes kept one of the brightest young talents pretty quiet all game.
theessexfox Posted 1 November 2014 Posted 1 November 2014 He always does it, didn't notice this incident specifically until MOTD, bit of a harmless knock. Great performance from him today, top song too.
Mike the Metal Ed Posted 2 November 2014 Posted 2 November 2014 I managed to check into a hotel and get the Internet working in time to watch the last 30 minutes of our match against Sheffield Wednesday last season, just in time to see Wasyl pop Michail Antonio in the mouth. He's not someone you want to annoy twice, and I like it.
Andy King Power Posted 2 November 2014 Posted 2 November 2014 Honestly, the elbow didn't even look that bad. At first glance, it didn't look like it hit him in the face at first. Best player on the pitch by far, great defending, even better passing, I think most of his balls found his player, very nicely placed, looking to set something up. Also loved his efforts in getting involved in set pieces. A lot to like from Was, very nice performance. As noted, if not for the freakish OG, it would've been a great return.
North East Fox Posted 2 November 2014 Posted 2 November 2014 He does it in such a way that it'd be hard to take retrospective action - he's just an experienced pro.
cuddly ken Posted 2 November 2014 Posted 2 November 2014 He does it in such a way that it'd be hard to take retrospective action - he's just an experienced pro. Would you be do dismissive, if an opposing player had elbowed one of our players? I doubt it, a deliberate elbow is a straight red, the damage it can do, can put a player out for months. But hey because he wears a Leicester shirt he's a beast according to so called Leic fans, pathetic!
Dan Posted 2 November 2014 Posted 2 November 2014 Jesus Christ. MOTD picking up on it is only going to make sure it ends sooner rather than later - hopefully down to his pro-activity rather than being forced to because he's always ****ing suspended. It's a shame as I think he looked better than Moore has done.
Lambert09 Posted 2 November 2014 Posted 2 November 2014 yes it was stupid, yes we know he does this all the time.... but my god he was bloody brilliant all game. Shame he went and ruined it. If he doesnt get banned, I would genuinely like to see him with young Liam against Southampton... obviously not going to happen but Wes has looked off the pace the last few weeks
Bettsj2 Posted 2 November 2014 Posted 2 November 2014 He used his body to get between the player and the ball. Because of the height difference he caught him. It would be very harsh for that to be classed as a deliberate elbow in my opinion. Its that sort of defending we've lacked. He wouldn't have let Obertan ghost past him at Newcastle an he would have stuck to Boney like glue rather than retreat to the line. He's definitely a better option than Moore at the minute and I really hope the FA dont view it like the bunch of pussy boys crying about it on here.
Guest Col city fan Posted 2 November 2014 Posted 2 November 2014 He was superb yesterday. The FA could take action on the elbow though as the ref missed it?
Crinklyfox Posted 2 November 2014 Posted 2 November 2014 We won't win many games with ten men. And that's what we would have had if the ref had seen the elbow. Refs in future games will be looking for him, he'll be more likely to pick up cards from now on. We need his solidity at the back so he has to cut that part of his game out.
Dickov22 Posted 2 November 2014 Posted 2 November 2014 Just seen it. Pretty disgraceful. I don't like it.
st albans fox Posted 2 November 2014 Posted 2 November 2014 Liam back for the next three games at least then!
Guest MattP Posted 2 November 2014 Posted 2 November 2014 One of the most baffling decisions today. Why take Moore out of the side for him? Moore knows Berahino more than anyone and probably marks him in training. What the hell? Wasyl had Berahino in his back pocket, our defence looked twice as good with him in defence instead of more.
Itsthejoeker Posted 2 November 2014 Posted 2 November 2014 Couldn't care less, he's experienced enough to make it look accidental. Just look at all the ones he's got a way with spanning back to his anderlecht days. Great defending today, hoping to see him again next Saturday
Thracian Posted 2 November 2014 Posted 2 November 2014 Was is a sending off waiting to happen in the Premiership.
Dickov22 Posted 2 November 2014 Posted 2 November 2014 Was is a sending off waiting to happen in the Premiership. Yep. It'd probably do us a favour if the FA ban him retrospectively
Sharpe's Fox Posted 2 November 2014 Posted 2 November 2014 Best elbower in the country. I think he's had about five in about 30 appearances and he's got away with them all. The one on James Vaughan which he reacted to and got sent off was majestic.
LCFC Rennie Posted 2 November 2014 Posted 2 November 2014 Wouldn't mind if he got banned, at least Moore would walk back into the team.
Simmo86 Posted 2 November 2014 Posted 2 November 2014 Wouldn't mind if he got banned, at least Moore would walk back into the team. Yeah, drop our best defender yesterday. Great call.
The Doctor Posted 2 November 2014 Posted 2 November 2014 Some ridiculous opinions in here - our defence looked so much more solid with him in, they didn't really threaten once. Should definitely start vs Southampton if he doesn't get pulled up on the elbow.
