Unabomber Posted 2 November 2014 Posted 2 November 2014 I didn't even know this happened, what half was it?
LCCFox96 Posted 2 November 2014 Posted 2 November 2014 Wasyl was man of the match for me. My primary concern about him going into the team was his pace but he didn't look too out of place and played the offside trap very well. He did let himself down with the elbow but other than that was solid enough all afternoon.
GingerrrFox Posted 2 November 2014 Posted 2 November 2014 Who gives a shit if he's a tough, rugged central defender? All the best central defenders over the years have not been whiter than white. Terry, Kompany, Puyol, Maldini etc can/could mix it with the best of them. People need to man up a bit.
steveherbe Posted 2 November 2014 Posted 2 November 2014 Best player by a mile yesterday. So he elbowed someone, so what? If it had been bloody Liam, half the posters on here would have awarded him the VC. Was 》 LM at the minute, get over it.
allotment-fox Posted 2 November 2014 Posted 2 November 2014 just a little flick if he had ment it the bloke would be out cold
Guest MarshallForEngland Posted 2 November 2014 Posted 2 November 2014 I think he made a strong case for starting next week tbh. With regard to the elbow, I can't say I care. It's been a long time since we've had a centre half who doesn't mind mercilessly bullying opposition strikers and if Was is savvy enough to get away with brutalizing people then all the better.
65RosesFox Posted 2 November 2014 Posted 2 November 2014 He was solid yesterday and won pretty much everything in the air, and gave Berahino no time on the ball what so ever. We didn't look like concedng yesterday and it was a freak OG that cost us, other than that we looked failry comfortable throughout. Wasyl proved yesterday that you don't need pace if you can read the game well. He can pick a pass better than both Moore and Morgan and is solid both in the air and in the tackle. The bit that stuck out for me yesterday was just before Pearson brought Wood and Powell on when he tracked back from a corner faster than anyone else, clattered into one of their players, carried on running and then went into a strong 50/50 won the ball, came off worse and got studded in the shin but got back up limped for a few seconds and got on. We haven't got enough of that in the team, especially in midfield. For me, he had his chance yesterday and took it and should start against Southampton if available.
MattGamble92 Posted 2 November 2014 Posted 2 November 2014 Wasyl MOTM for me. We all know he's a maniac but that's why I love him
chapero82 Posted 2 November 2014 Posted 2 November 2014 We have all, craved for a no nonsense defender and when we get one we moan about it, you do realise walshy did a lot of it too
Legend_in_blue Posted 2 November 2014 Posted 2 November 2014 Does anyone have a video link of this magical elbow strike please?
Donut Posted 2 November 2014 Posted 2 November 2014 With how well he defended yesterday and CAN defend, flinging your elbows around is a daft idea. If we end up playing with 10 men and losing because of such stupidity, it will cease to become funny. And another thing. Putting your elbow in someones face does not make you a "hard man".
PAULCFC Posted 2 November 2014 Posted 2 November 2014 I didn't even know this happened, what half was it? Me neither...any videos?

I like Moore, and believe he will cement his position towards the end of the season, but I back this excellent summary in its entirety. Wasl showed what we need at the moment, he should keep his place for Southampton.Another thing I dont think he made contact with his elbow in the players face,Berhaino was hit in the chest and the natural movement took Wasis forearm upto the face.No excuse its a card maybe red, but 'washing line' is a good description.I maybe wrong I have seen the incident only twice, but it wasnt a direct elbow to face, and Berhaino did run into Wazis arm, its just Wasi should not have been waving it around. Maybe next to Kings earlier performances, the best individual performance in these last 5 games, heart, running, effort, and successfull passes out of defence.Try him in Cambiassos role, and cambiasso top of the diamond. So far foreigners hace gave us the better performances,....Mahrez, Wasi, Cambiasso, Ulloa, all we need now is British grit, and crazy Vardy arrogance.

I'm firmly of the opinion he was better for us yesterday than Moore has been recently - but that doesn't mean we should keep risking the potential of going down to ten men. He will need to cut this out of his game immediately because I doubt he'll get away with that again.
Bert Posted 3 November 2014 Posted 3 November 2014 People actually hoping one of our own players gets banned? Jesus christ. He was class yesterday and we looked a lot more solid with him at the back.

He doesn't elbow someone every six games, he's played 31 games for us now and I believe this is the 2nd time that people have commented on "elbowing" an opposition player. He's a physical player that uses his upper body strength to manoeuvre opposition players to gain an advantage. Yesterday he didn't deliberately elbow Berahino, he put his arm out to shield the ball and gain a positional advantage. There was no intent, he didn't cock his arm back or even raise his elbow particularly high, Berahino ran into Wasyl's arm. You need to have a look at how some of the best defender's use their upper body strength to come out on top in games. Maldini was brilliant at it as was Jaap Stam.

As well as one of the best modern day defenders in Nemanja Vidic.

Vaughan & Kermorgant I can remember, there were definitely two other occasions but I can't remember what they were. I'm sorry - be realistic, you can call it whatever you want, but if the ref had seen that, he would've been sent off and that is all that matters. Regardless of if I agree whether it was or wasn't an elbow, it's going to cost us if he keeps it up. I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up suspended for the Southampton game as a result of it. I would keep him in against Southampton, definitely, but he can't keep doing this because it WILL cost us eventually.
ScouseFox Posted 3 November 2014 Posted 3 November 2014 he had a right good go on antonio when we beat sheff wed in the promotion game. wasn't backwards in coming forwards at bolton when we won the league either. can't really remember one particular incident from that game just remember it as him being particularly rough.

Maybe he's racist then. Vaughan, Antonio, Berahino....
Dickov22 Posted 3 November 2014 Posted 3 November 2014 I'm with Dan LCFC on this one. It must be the 5th or so time he's done it. Plenty of us said he'd be a liability in the Prem because of the nature of the post match analysis on incidents. Doesn't matter how well he plays, if he continues to play like a thug it'll cost us big time. I'm not having people finding it funny that he did that to Berahino. It was disgusting. It's a sad state of affairs that we started a Premiership game with him in the side in my opinion. Don't know why we didn't strengthen more in that area over the summer. If he gets banned we are left with a subs bench consisting of no centre halves. Well done Wasyl.
