Wasyl's Elbow - What's the fuss? No ban.

Agree the thread title is rather sad, Mods... It really wasn't as bad as some are making out on here, whats wrong with people

Looking at it from a different point of view, I'd argue that Liam Moore was lucky to stay on the pitch vs Newcastle. Wasyl has that no-nonsense reputation but Liam Moore dives into a fair few challenges!!

An apology from boing boing and indeed some of our "fans" is in order me thinks, words like "smashed in the face" and "ban the animal" were way out of order, was a nothing incident, where was the blood, fractured cheekbone, or indeed any sign of any injury whatsoever ?  question, how many red cards has Was had for previous brutal attacks ?

Anyone got a video?

Edit, major over reaction and if he gets a ban for that it will be utter b*llocks. It's a foul, and a yellow at best, but even that's debatable.

I think this is more conclusive, better angle.

Got away with one here and quiet word from the manager wouldn't go amiss. I'm sure Was can think of other ways to intimidate the opposition.

I can't think of any Premier League player who wouldn't be completely emasculated by a firm pre-match handshake from Wasyl.

missed at game. but having read the thread on here i was expecting common assault.

I'm with Dan LCFC on this one. It must be the 5th or so time he's done it. Plenty of us said he'd be a liability in the Prem because of the nature of the post match analysis on incidents. Doesn't matter how well he plays, if he continues to play like a thug it'll cost us big time. I'm not having people finding it funny that he did that to Berahino. It was disgusting.

It's a sad state of affairs that we started a Premiership game with him in the side in my opinion. Don't know why we didn't strengthen more in that area over the summer. If he gets banned we are left with a subs bench consisting of no centre halves. Well done Wasyl.

Garbage. We were pretty solid with him and Wes and he was a big reason Berahino & others were offside about 8 times. Moore's positioning has been fvcking awful for the last month and he'd learn a lot from watching Wasyl. That wasn't even an elbow, it's called protecting your space and a tougher player would have just got on with it. Because it's a whiny little sh!t like Berahino, it gets headlines.

Berahino should get on with getting himself in the England squad and stop being such a fairy.

The majority of you missed my point either way. I'll admit I'm surprised he's gotten off with it but if you lot seriously think that he won't be watched closer in future (and he HAS elbowed players in the past) then don't go blubbering when we're down to ten men in future.

I'm pretty sure they said something along the lines of him not being punished retrospectively because it was an on the ball incident.

Either way I'm glad that he's available for Saturday as we definitely looked better defensively with him than we did with Moore.

At the time I thought his elbow connected with Berahino's chest rather than his head. It still looks like that when I look at the replays (with Berahino doing his Liam Moore "my head hurts" act) - but maybe that's just me.

Those people complaining about Was have obviously never played the game. It was a harmless challenge, he left his elbow in, but it was a not a swinging vicious blow. The forward was pretty pathetic in his moaning.

I was at Chelsea this season and watching Cahill and Terry swinging their elbows into our players was a lesson in how to show who was boss.

You have to win your personal battles in football and we have been found wanting over the last few games. I thought Was was extremely professional and apart from one bad pass was assured in everything he did. Just wished he had a strikers instinct and scored just after halftime.

Bloody hell, if I got elbowed in the face by a guy as big as Wasyl on the park I'd be out cold. I never got elbowed like that when I was played in the under 8s-15 league.

He's a nutter, but he's our nutter and he seems to know enough of what he's doing to be able to cast doubt in the minds of refs and the FA.

That being said, the cheering and acceptance of the 'good hard defender' and the 'just kick the shite out of him!' mentaility by many football fans here is one of the reasons why the English national team is so far behind other leading nations.

I think that's quite unfair, there is a fair bit more to wasyl than you're suggesting. His reading of the game for one.

Imagine if he did some serious damage with his elbow. Match of the Day would be absolutely fantastic.

Yeah considering the little brummie rent boy is being branded as the future of English football.

Absolutely, he's obviously got massive tactical awareness of the game including knowing where the opposition players are nearby, and moreover where they're going to go. Which is actually a contributing factor in being able to pull off the occasional incident like this and it look reasonably innocuous.
