Carl the Llama Posted 11 August 2015 Posted 11 August 2015 Ironically I'm breaking my boycott and listening to it now purely to see how bad it really is. You guys weren't wrong.
stripeyfox Posted 11 August 2015 Posted 11 August 2015 I actually think he comes out with shit about things that dont even concern football alot and can be very cringe but i also think he gets u on ur edge of ur seat and his a very good commentator and his anything but boring when we get someone else on commentating u soon see how better he isI can't even listen to him. Screaming like a lunatic doesn't make you a great, or even good commentator. I get the whole local radio commentator has to be a bit partizan but I find him irritating. You only have to compare it to if we have our game being covered by 5live or Sports Extra to hear how bad he is.In addition to that, his interview technique seems to annoy everyone he comes into contact with.
RoboFox Posted 11 August 2015 Posted 11 August 2015 Ironically I'm breaking my boycott and listening to it now purely to see how bad it really is. You guys weren't wrong. I'm also listening to it now. I listen to the forum most weeks, and I have to say I tend to enjoy it, and at times it can offer an insight into the the club that we otherwise wouldn't get. So I was a little skeptical reading all the posts on here, because of the overall opinion on Stringer on this forum. But, I have to say, It's face-meltingly cringeworthy... Alas, we know he and Bourne read FT, and that all the feedback is most welcome.
Ozwin Posted 11 August 2015 Posted 11 August 2015 Pretty pleased that they actually read out texts slating Stringer.
Gerard Posted 11 August 2015 Posted 11 August 2015 I've always been a supporter of Stringer and quite liked his enthusiasm and straight to the point attitude. However that was an assassination on Vardy for the point of being sensationalist. Stringer has certainly gone down in my estimation as he'd rather make a mountain out of a molehill to the detriment of the team and club.
fleckneymike Posted 11 August 2015 Posted 11 August 2015 In Stringer's defence, not that I expect he feels he needs defending, he's actually been very helpful by covering all the reasons one might find the term offensive and found that there is little appetite to do so from either the club's supporters or even the Japanese press. You may feel the way he went about it was rather ham fisted but ultimately he had to cover the story. It would also only be fair to appreciate the context under which Radio Leicester work, there is no budget to bring in presenters which leaves the host (in this case Stringer) responsible for being both the proverbial good cop and bad cop (as well as news reader) which can reasonably lead to him being accused of two faced. Indeed if Stringer was truly the evil man many on here would have us believe then he would have invited Bourne to play devil's advocate - he doesn't and all credit to him (or his ego) he stands by all he says.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 11 August 2015 Posted 11 August 2015 Pretty pleased that they actually read out texts slating Stringer. it was hilarious how they did it
Carl the Llama Posted 11 August 2015 Posted 11 August 2015 Ian's petulant "it's a free country" bit after the tweets at 49 minutes in was stellar cvnting. Fortunately I had nothing better to do with the past couple of hours than to play through it intermittently in the background or else I might feel my time had been wasted vindicating the opinions I already held of the man's abilities to adequately perform his role.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 11 August 2015 Posted 11 August 2015 honestly beginning to like him, he's literally doing it on purpose now
Larry_LCFC Posted 11 August 2015 Posted 11 August 2015 I have just listened to the podcast and from others comments, I was expecting to be disgusted by Stringer. To be honest, I don't think the interview with the Japanese reporter is as bad as people are portraying it to be. Yes, he probably milks it a bit more than he needs to and I do think Stringer is attempting to blow it out of proportion by saying things like "I'm too uncomfortable to repeat such language" etc. It makes the out the term used was a lot more severe than it was. Character assassination against Vardy though? I'm not convinced it is. He probably is trying to stir it up abit because he wants to be noticed, but at the same time, he is doing on a local radio station, whilst claiming to be a fan of the club. If he was a national journalist I could understand, but shitting on your own doorstep? I've said it before though and I'll say it again, I believe people are letting their current and outstanding hatred for stringer cloud their judgement of all his future content. I do think he needs to wind his neck in though and stop getting involved in what doesn't really concern him. Discuss it yes, but don't try and make a mountain out of a molehill.
Thracian Posted 11 August 2015 Posted 11 August 2015 He is a sports broadcaster but part of his remit is to attempt to be a devil's advocate journalist when there are differences in opinion. In these situations he should be aware that his personal opinions are not required. But; better the devil you know. I'm sorry but the very idea of journalists moralising to the rest of us is laughable - as everyone would know if I wrote a book about some of the national and local scribes I've known during my many years in the job (which i won't). Most journalists are there to inform and to analyse objectively - not to shape opinion according to their own jaundiced preferences which are too often based on precious little real experience or expertise anyway. Indeed some have such shit lives and relationships they're the last people qualified to shape anyone's views. Others do excellent work observing events and reflecting on them constructively, rather than maliciously or just for impact/effect and to hell with the consequences. Don't mistake me, news needs sensation to get it noticed. But there's a big difference between honest sensationalism - highlighted with just cause - and cheap sensationalism which can hurt so lastingly yet offers no informed reasoning whatsoever and is not a reflection of the real truth at all. If i had six words of advice for any journalist I would say "Write (or comment) honestly, informatively and be responsible". Times in a Stringer commentary I find he's indulging in some meaningless chat when I simply want him to paint a verbal picture of what's happening on the pitch instead of his hurriedly leaping in with a comment that "Leicester have scored", with no reference as to why or how it happened, because he was doing something else.
adam1 Posted 11 August 2015 Posted 11 August 2015 Why is this thread in the Leicester City forum? He is not important. He is a nobody. Mods - can this thread be moved to the general chat section?

Foreverfox Posted 11 August 2015 Posted 11 August 2015 O.K After last nights phone in on Radio Leicester where Mr Stringer again was ridiculous and embarrassing is it now time we sent a clear message to our local Radio station that Ian Stringer is not the right man to be the voice of the fans. Boycotted by the Club's staff including the Players and Manager and continuing to speak total and utter rubbish resulting in last nights embarrassing attempt of covering the Jamie Vardy Racist story. It's time we made our opinions clear we want a REAL voice of the fans. someone we can relate to and a real Leicester City Fan. So.....Anyone who agree's can text Radio Leicester with the following words and hopefully with enough texts going in they will sit up and do something about it. "Please replace Ian Stringer asap i as a fan have had enough of his poor representation of us fans with the club. His continued employment will result in me boycotting your station .....MR.....(end with your name) Or words to that effect you get the idea. Text number: 81333 - Start your message with LEICESTER. Texts to this number will be charged at your standard network rate. Comment your name here when done. I think as few as 50 will make them sit up and take notice. We as fans need a voice to the club and he had proven time and time again he is not capable of representing us. The club has virtually boycotted him! We want to hear the Players and Manager after the games. It's time for him to go.Last night was the last straw. Remember to start with the word LEICESTER. Comment DONE here. Keep the texts going in. We can do this
Webbo Posted 11 August 2015 Posted 11 August 2015 Trying to get someone the sack because you don't like them, really?
Larry_LCFC Posted 11 August 2015 Posted 11 August 2015 Keep the texts going in. We can do this Seriously grow up. I see the likes of you as no better than Stringer himself. You lot moan about a character assignation of Vardy, then do the same to Stringer. You don't like him? Well its easy, don't listen to him, don't tune in, ignore him. You're quick enough to say that there are plenty of other avenues to hear "player interviews" etc, well use them then. I can actually see the forum getting into trouble with some of the shit that is flying about.
Foreverfox Posted 11 August 2015 Posted 11 August 2015 Trying to get someone the sack because you don't like them, really? Not because i don't like him...because i think he is rubbish at his job and has made a wedge between the radio station and the club. I pay my TV licence and am therefore a BBC customer and feel it's my right to air my opinions as a customer
Wymsey Posted 11 August 2015 Posted 11 August 2015 I presume Stringer has a boss? He/She should have a word with him to stop bullshitting at times, and trying to cause further havoc.

Radio Leicester confirmed they have received many texts today regarding MR Stringer when i made my complaint by email they called me to discuss.
Larry_LCFC Posted 11 August 2015 Posted 11 August 2015 I presume Stringer has a boss? He/She should have a word with him to stop bullshitting at times, and trying to cause further havoc. I agree. Like Vardy should be spoken to about his stupid behaviour, Stringer would benefit from a flee in his ear too. I guess Radio bosses will want a scoop though. I really don't think anyone needs to lose their job.
Dan Posted 11 August 2015 Posted 11 August 2015 Christ, a foxestalk witch hunt. Think some of you need to go and get some fresh air and worry about things that actually matter. Like posting on a forum to tell people that they need to worry about things that matter?
Larry_LCFC Posted 11 August 2015 Posted 11 August 2015 Like posting on a forum to tell people that they need to worry about things that matter? Well the whole point of a forum is to have a quick read through and post isn't it? Not quite as extreme as taking part in a Anti-Stringer campaign or reaching for my phone and texting away to desperately try and get him the sack is it.

Mark - get this posted at the top the forum so everyone knows they're doing it all wrong.

How random can you get? I just don't see why this thread should be in the Leicester City forum. It should go in the general forum. This part of the forum is supposed to be about Leicester City and not some third rate journo.

Yeah because clearly I said that's the rules.... Where do you even get this shit from? Love the way everything gets twisted on here. If you want to spend 24/7 on here, and get satisfaction trying to make someone lose their job, crack on buddy! Knock yourself out! Nobody's stopping you.
