Dr The Singh Posted 12 August 2015 Posted 12 August 2015 Pathetic that people think he answers to and should pander to the supporters, like we pay his wages? Leave the guy alone, I'm sure in his private life he's a likeable and interesting guy. He seems to be passionate about what he does and is trying to further his career and do well in life, more than can be said of some.Ian, is that you. Just so you know, I've always been a fan, forget this lot and continue your good work!!!
Buce Posted 12 August 2015 Posted 12 August 2015 I've texted. After his character assassination on Jamie Vady, his position is untenable.
Larry_LCFC Posted 12 August 2015 Posted 12 August 2015 I've texted. After his character assassination on Jamie Vady, his position is untenable. Get real. Blown up more than necessary yes, but it wasn't even close to a character assassination.
FrankieWorthoYaggedMyWife Posted 12 August 2015 Posted 12 August 2015 "Character assassination" Jesus. pull your tongue out of stringers arris! anything that gets shut of the **** is worth it
fleckneymike Posted 12 August 2015 Posted 12 August 2015 This has got ever so slightly out of hand. He reported on a news issue, gave callers and guests a right of reply and was quite measured in his tone. If you realy don't like his commentary you could always try attending the game in person

He reported on a news issue, gave callers and guests a right of reply and was quite measured in his tone. If you realy don't like his commentary you could always try attending the game in person My honest belief is people had made their minds up prior to listening to it, either from pre-conceived ideas about him, or based on others feedback. It has snowballed into something that it really wasn't. Slightly sensationalised by saying things like "I am too uncomfortable to repeat" etc, but certainly not as bad as people are making out. Like I've said before, Stringer needs to remember he is claiming to be a fan on a local radio station. He seriously needs to work on balancing out trying to make a story/name for himself and remembering where his loyalties lie.

I listened after reading the outrage expecting to hear something to be riled about. Seemed quite a reasonable bit of presenting to me. As ever with any issue like this only those who are outraged feel the need to comment (either on the story of the reporting of it), those who heard nothing to be offended by will be completely unaware of the fuss.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 12 August 2015 Posted 12 August 2015 I don't like Stringer, but to say it was a character assassination is completely ridiculous. Infact, Vardy was barely the focus, it was completely on the word itself and how it effects natives. Stringer never disclosed if Vardy should be punished or anything

Some people have to rely on the radio, so chuck your superiority complex and acknowledge that he's failing a lot of people.

He's 'failing' a small group of people on foxestalk who seem intent on feeling failed. The audience for a home match on the radio is small. Only 160k people tune in per week to Radio Leicester (or 23k a day) so there are always more people at the game than ever listening to the radio, on a match day. If you're not at the match I am amazed that anyone can say his commentary is innacurate as surely they are unable to see what he is describing so would have no idea about its accuracy.

fuchsntf Posted 12 August 2015 Posted 12 August 2015 I dont know the true feeling of all Radio Leicester city fans, but if he has been that poor , egoistic and arrogantly over the top, Use RL platforms , to let him and the right people know. Sometimes, it seems some posters dont like the negative, or even questioning approach or style from Stringer, on all things Leicester city. Then come on this forum themselves and then let rip over their ideas on manager, player, owners alike. But like I said, I dont , or cant listen to him on any regulararity.
Matt Posted 12 August 2015 Posted 12 August 2015 All he is doing is alienating himself more and more when it comes to his relationship with the club and some might say it goes as far as the fans aswell. Listen, I don't like the bloke, I think he's abit of an idiot but I wouldn't want him sacked, I wouldn't want anyone to lose their job but ultimately he isn't very good at his job, the club, the players and fans losing more and more respect him. I just don't listen to him/his shows/the station anymore though - Ratings, hitting them where it hurts is would be the best way to show the BBC enough is enough rather than hounding him out of his job.
Buce Posted 12 August 2015 Posted 12 August 2015 Get real. Blown up more than necessary yes, but it wasn't even close to a character assassination. That's your opinion; I doubt that the players share it, so the boycott will continue. Stringer has to go.

He's failing the international audience tuning in through foxesplayer for a start, don't think that just those listening on an actual radio are listening, or that that 160k is split evenly across all seven days; but even if there's a few thousand more at the match, that's still a sizeable audience that he's supposed to cater to (to fit them all in, even if we assume that they could all attend, we'd need to double in capacity) Never watched the games on Sky when we were in the championship and put on the commentary on RL because anythings better than Don Goodman? Or watched a foreign stream and had it as english-language commentary? if you watch a match and listen to RL, you'll see just how far off they are.
Larry_LCFC Posted 12 August 2015 Posted 12 August 2015 That's your opinion; I doubt that the players share it, so the boycott will continue. Stringer has to go. Yes your right it is. I also believe anyone that thinks that was a character assassination must have lived a very sheltered life. Did he call him a racist? - No, Did he make him out to be a monster - No, Did he call for him to be sacked? - No Did he openly state Vardy had apologized? - Several times Was he guilty over over-sensationalizing things regarding the term used - Probably. Not a character assassination.

Yes, of course you don't have the opportunity when a stream comes along to listen to one and watch the other, or additionally when it's on Sky/BT. FFS. As for this incident turning everyone mental and wanting him out, it's not that failing, it's the week in week out shitty professionalism over many, many years that people have had enough of I'd say. The campaign, I understand is not one to have him removed, but to intend to highlight areas that could do with improvement. Btw I haven't joined this campaign and have no intention of doing so.

lifted*fox Posted 12 August 2015 Posted 12 August 2015 I just wish he'd **** off so you lot stop talking about him.
The Doctor Posted 12 August 2015 Posted 12 August 2015 Both of you? I live in the UK, but I'll take your flippant and obviously stupid response as a concession that you've not a clue what you're talking about.

Not a character assassination. Ah...i think you are either being very generous to him or very very naive. I'm sure its not the latter. You are quite right that he did none of those things explicitly and lets face it, had he done so, he would have been an even bigger idiot than, judging by the comments, many already feel he is. However, i feel that it was very much what he was inferring and he was most definitely trying to get a rise out of the Japanese Journo
fleckneymike Posted 12 August 2015 Posted 12 August 2015 I live in the UK, but I'll take your flippant and obviously stupid response as a concession that you've not a clue what you're talking about. That's awfully decent of you. I take it the one over seas listener isn't too bothered
Albert Posted 12 August 2015 Posted 12 August 2015 I was a Stringer fan a few yrs back. He came across as a fan and his passionate commentary was quite refreshing. Slowly but surely he's just deteriorated. With the changes over the summer it was a chance for him to start a fresh, learn from his mistakes and maybe rebuild some of the bridges he burnt especially with the players. Obviously he had to mention the Vardy incident on the forum but there was no need to drag it out like he did and to get that Japanese reporter on was just embarrassing. 1 week into the season he's already managed to shoot himself in the foot and alienate himself further from the players. If I was in charge id be straight on the phone to a certain Mr Geoff Peters asking him to name his price!
