Pearson's belittling attitude

Recommended Posts

Just wanted to say that I really dislike our managers attitude when questioned by the Media unlike last season he will be under more spotlight than ever before and will be asked questions just like any other premier league manager especially as we are going through a bad run of form but like always his rude , arrogant and belittling attitude raises its head when asked here's the response

"I have to continue to manage people’s expectations through hysteria and depression. It seems to be one or the other.

I'm not going to get involved in people's emotional states

Who does he think he is ? it's almost how dare you ask me that question , correct me if I'm wrong but questions about his trsnfer policy were rife here in the summer so if he thinks this is about the here and now hes sadly wrong

Many fans realised back then we would struggle as we didn't have the quality needed to perform at this level

It's not the players fault here , take some responsibility Nigel for your team selection , tactics and a failure of recruitment during the summer !

Sounds bang on to me. The fickle & counterproductive attitude of our fans is truly world class, I expect him to continue with his plan & to treat being put on a pedestal after a few good results or buried alive after a few bad ones with equel contempt.

All that matters is that we're competitive so the results will come & that the shambolic Swansea performance doesn't reappear, else everyone not just fickle arseholes will have just cause to question his position

Being butthurt over such a statement says more about you, than him!

Bang on in my opinion. We beat Man U 5-3 and suddenly people are talking about Europe, then we lose a few and people are saying we're nailed on for relegation and Pearson can't do anything right. We must have the most fickle fans in the league.

Oh bore off! He can say what he likes in press conferences (Within reason).

I really don't give a fuck, admittedly I like his attitude and arrogance, but he really can say what he wants aslong as it gets results and performances, unfortunately in recent weeks that hasn't been the case and whilst some of his decisions have made me raise eye brows my blame is with the players at the moment, forget the formation and selections for a moment - yes they are to blame but put them to one side for one second, my gripe at the moment is that the players cannot make simple passes, professional footballers that are at our club cannot play a simple pass, that me or you could do down the park, until that is sorted (And that's up to the players) then we can look deeper into our problems.

Wow , it's all about opinions I'm quite surprised that 1 goal in 5 away attemps brings no concern at all , when quite clearly in the summer many fans said he needed a finisher alongside ulloa and a goal scoring midfielder

Pearson's totally right when on occasions he says it's fine margins , of course it is Nigel because the opposing manager knows if they can keep a clean sheet they'll take the points because we haven't got any goals in us

Of course you could put vards alongside Ulloa instead of wasting him wide , and put Powell and mahrez wide to give us half a chance instead of continuing with nugent in a nonsense role , it's obvious that teams have worked us out by now ie stop vards wide and ulloa and you stop leicester , give teams more players to think about and we may get rewards

I think I lost count the number of times Alex Ferguson was a **** in press conferences. Not all managers have this attitude where they go out to please people.

It seeems to me he's ptotecting his players, some of them don't deserve it but that's his way.

Players can get affected by the over hyping and critism and he's trying to minimise it

Actually, we've got the most fickle manager in the league. Views on his capabilities have changed dramatically because his tactics have done the same.

It's hardly surprising people's expectations have risen and fallen so quickly.

Stop being soft.

Last season this article was posted on this forum- http://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/Leicester-City-boss-Nigel-Pearson-says-club/story-20306054-detail/story.html

Containing the comment from NP   "I don't give a monkeys about what anyone thinks about my tenure here and how I do the job and my personality compared to other managers, I know the job I do here is right for this club."

He didn't give monkeys then, yet fans weren't looking for any little quote to attack him. 5 games without a win and he's getting it off the clubs fans, his comments in your post aren't far off!

you mis-spelt "spammer"

Nah, the guy is quite clearly a spanner. Nigels media face isn't that bad, and tbh he's right about the fans - as Indierich said, from expecting Europe to "doomed, sack everyone" in 5 games - our fans don't seem to have a realistic middle ground.

I'm biased, because I've liked Pearson ever since he replaced that twat Holloway. He's never gone over the top about anything, despite the fact that he's made us a successful club and gave us back a bit of pride. It's right that he should manage expectations, because it is perfectly possible that we could get relegated this season - though I doubt it very much. The point is that some of our fans need to learn to manage their own expectations as well - and if they can't we need a sensible manager like Pearson to do so for us. He's not belittled anyone (well, he wasn't very nice about Burnley, but who gives a fvck about the ginger whinger).

He's absolutely right. People have difficulty controlling their emotions. You might think he's being arrogant, and maybe he is, but I agree with that it's important to calm people down. The team won't perform at their best if he doesn't.

On a related topic, I'm fed up of people whinging about supposedly not being allowed to have a moan.

Just get on with it instead of acting the martyr all the time.

There is middle ground between wanting Pearson sacked and thinking he can do no wrong.

I like him but also think he's made a lot of mistakes lately.

I agree with Pearson. You only have to see the swing of opinion on this forum on an almost weekly basis to see that he's bang on. If this place is a micro look at City fans per se, then you can't argue with the man

He does come out with a few weird statements but - I think he's protecting the players. All the players have said that he's totally different away from the media. Just a bad patch, people need to stop reading into things.
