Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 28 November 2014 Posted 28 November 2014 Finally an official trailer. Looks the business.
Captain... Posted 28 November 2014 Posted 28 November 2014 Nice trailer apart from the last bit... December 2015 Like the crucifix red light sabre, very dark side.
Les-TA-Jon Posted 28 November 2014 Posted 28 November 2014 This is going to be so awesome. So excited. My childhood awakens!
purpleronnie Posted 28 November 2014 Posted 28 November 2014 Loved the first 3...still do, hated the last 3, but will have to check it out, pity my nephew is a bit too young to see it, I would have taken him....I think my uncle took me to see Return of the jedi so it would be cool to be the uncle this time.
Captain... Posted 28 November 2014 Posted 28 November 2014 This is going to be so awesome. So excited. My childhood awakens! No sign of Jar Jar Binks or any equivalent, hopefully JJ Abrams will do the same job he did for Star Trek, but I'm still not going to get too excited I remember the last time... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zJlgpozN31s
separator Posted 28 November 2014 Posted 28 November 2014 Certainly looks the business. A few people online seem to be slagging off the new t-shaped light sabre but it looks alright to me. I can still remember going to the Regal cinema in Melton to watch Return Of The Jedi back in the day, love a bit of Star Wars.
One Legged Beaver Posted 28 November 2014 Posted 28 November 2014 I think the original script for this film was written by the guy who wrote the empire strikes back and return of the Jedi.
Carl the Llama Posted 28 November 2014 Posted 28 November 2014 Makes sense that someone finally gave their lightsaber a hilt imo. I always thought they seemed a bit dangerous.
ealingfox Posted 28 November 2014 Posted 28 November 2014 Don't know how you can draw any conclusions about the film based on that Surely you'd cut yourself swinging that T lightsabre about? Can't bring it close to your body whilst moving. Can't bring myself to believe that this will be any less doggo than the Phantom Menace but hey, you never know.
FoxesAreBlue Posted 28 November 2014 Posted 28 November 2014 Should have left Star Wars as it was after Return of the Jedi. The story was the story, now they're just making shit up to cash in.
Phube Posted 28 November 2014 Posted 28 November 2014 Sooo excited. It'll fill a Middle Earth shaped hole in my December schedule!
Phube Posted 28 November 2014 Posted 28 November 2014 Should have left Star Wars as it was after Return of the Jedi. The story was the story, now they're just making shit up to cash in. I know, unlike the factual, completely un-madeup, realistic, original Star Wars!
Gary Eatfood Posted 28 November 2014 Posted 28 November 2014 I think the original script for this film was written by the guy who wrote the empire strikes back and return of the Jedi. If that's true then that would be brilliant. The terrible script of the last three films was a big factor in them being so rubbish.
separator Posted 28 November 2014 Posted 28 November 2014 Should have left Star Wars as it was after Return of the Jedi. The story was the story, now they're just making shit up to cash in. There was always 9 parts to the story that Lucas developed. The plot to episode 7 is apparently loosely based on his original plot from back in the 70's. They did their fair share of cashing in on Star Wars back in 80's anyways, I used to have a shit-load to SW toys back then, would have been worth a bit maybe if my mum hadn't slung them out when I left home.
FoxesAreBlue Posted 28 November 2014 Posted 28 November 2014 I know, unlike the factual, completely un-madeup, realistic, original Star Wars! Ay? I'm not claiming it's factual... It just feels like they're dragging out a franchise purely for the sake of cashing in, I know this is nothing new, but to me the original 3 was the "story" and it should have been left at that. Good vs Evil, one protagonist and antagonist etc, I mean really, how can they top the "I am you're father" scene without out it being so over the top that it's almost ironic? And that cross bar lightsabre? It's clearly been done just... because. It's a cheap trick to make people go "wow cool" it's a gimmick much like the double ended dildo that Darth Maul swung about. I'm not saying I'm right, I know millions will lap it up and I will probably go and see it too (I hate myself) but I'll still see it as a cash cow rather than part of the actual story.

There are two types of people when it comes to movie series... those that want just the first and are happy (original trilogy, first Matrix) and those like me who love expanded info. I love the prequel trilogy, mainly for the Emporer's story arc.
Stadt Posted 28 November 2014 Posted 28 November 2014 Why don't we wait and see if its any good before drawing conclusions?

separator Posted 28 November 2014 Posted 28 November 2014 I enjoyed parts 1-3, Revenge Of The Sith was a great film, but with that trilogy you sort of knew what was going to happen eventually... republic becomes the empire, Anakin becomes Darth Vader, Luke & Leia are born, Palpatine becomes the Emporer. With part 7 we don't know where the story will take us.
Guest Sharpe's Fox Posted 28 November 2014 Posted 28 November 2014 If I was making a new Stars Wars film I would make it as shit as possible just to see how far the fanboys will defend it. Oh yeah George Lucas already did that what a joker
Legend_in_blue Posted 29 November 2014 Posted 29 November 2014 The cross guard lightsaber is straight from the comics. JJ has done some research on this at least. We might get a decent story but I wouldn't be too hopeful. I'd expect something along the lines of Star Trek Into Darkness as far as the fx goes. That shot at the end with the falcon is very Abrams. Sounds like Cumberbatch on the voice over as well to me, although some are saying it's Serkis.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 29 November 2014 Posted 29 November 2014 That looks ****ing boss to me; I can't wait for this and I thought the prequel trilogy were pretty toss. I think Abrams will do a tidy job.
