the_fosse Posted 27 December 2014 Posted 27 December 2014 It's been a frustrating season thus far but we have some players capable of turning our fortunes around now, before the market opens. For me, defensively we're not good enough at this level but offensively we have hope, if we can get the most out of of Jeff Schlupp. The kid has so much potential and when he's direct, defenders cannot live with him. He's quick and strong, we just need him to be more direct, more positive and a bit more horrible. For me, Mahrez, Ulloa and Cambiasso are the only players we have that have that bit of quality for this league and if we can support them with a confident, direct and aggressive Schlupp, we will score more goals. The annoying thing about the lad is the times you see him get sucked in when it's crying out for him to utilise the space out wide. Attack them Jeffrey, we've got nothing to lose!
Stadt Posted 27 December 2014 Posted 27 December 2014 It's like he has dementia and he just forgets he's a footballer but when he remembers he's quite good
daddylonglegs Posted 27 December 2014 Posted 27 December 2014 It's like he has dementia and he just forgets he's a footballer but when he remembers he's quite good I think the exact same thing every game - either that or he's totally blazed every time he comes on the pitch
ousefox Posted 27 December 2014 Posted 27 December 2014 if he had a brain transplant he could be our best player
Clever Fox Posted 27 December 2014 Posted 27 December 2014 He's suffering from youthful enthusiasm. When he learns to relax before shooting or passing he'll become twice the player he is today. It's all part of the learning curve he and others in the Team are on.
Fox92 Posted 27 December 2014 Posted 27 December 2014 He is very quick, it's just a shame he doesn't use it. Yesterday was the first time I've seen him actually really run at defenders in a long time and he looked dangerous. But he doesn't do it enough. He also lacks a brain as Watson mentioned, and the amount of times he makes the wrong decision is frustrating. Schlupp was good yesterday and I'd like to see more of that.
lgfualol Posted 27 December 2014 Posted 27 December 2014 Feel like Pearson told him to attack attack yesterday. Was fantastic. Really think in a couple years he will be super dangerous.
Dickov22 Posted 27 December 2014 Posted 27 December 2014 He doesn't believe in himself enough, that's his problem.
Grewks Posted 27 December 2014 Posted 27 December 2014 He doesn't believe in himself enough, that's his problem. there is no 'problem'. He is young and inexperienced. This is his first professional season as a regular, and it is at the top flight.
weller54 Posted 27 December 2014 Posted 27 December 2014 When we get relegated he'll be signed by a Premier league club.. Derby???
benpicko Posted 27 December 2014 Posted 27 December 2014 He doesn't believe in himself enough, that's his problem. Why was there a run of games in which he shot whenever he got the ball like 30 yards out then?
HoustonFox Posted 27 December 2014 Posted 27 December 2014 When I first saw title of this thread I was hoping the first post to with it just said "baby"
Dickov22 Posted 27 December 2014 Posted 27 December 2014 Why was there a run of games in which he shot whenever he got the ball like 30 yards out then? The Liverpool game is the one that stood out to me. He just didn't want the ball. It was as if he thought he didn't deserve to be on the same pitch as the Liverpool lads there is no 'problem'. He is young and inexperienced. This is his first professional season as a regular, and it is at the top flight. I'm a Schlupp fan. I think he has something special. Just need to get him believing it more, and he'll produce more often,
Bamba's Babes Posted 27 December 2014 Posted 27 December 2014 I heard he got a pair of football boots for Christmas...
Dan Posted 27 December 2014 Posted 27 December 2014 I've made it clear many a time I've never really been a massive Schlupp fan. I don't think he's terrible, but he frustrates me. If he turned his display yesterday into a regularity, I will warm to him - and I don't think it's beyond him either, yesterday was as much down to his positive attitude as anything else and I liked that. He's a bit clumsy and a bit hit and miss, but he'll start hitting more than missing if he has a proper go like he did yesterday. Hope he does it.
HesNotGudjonsonn2 Posted 27 December 2014 Posted 27 December 2014 Schlupp is going to be something amazing very very soon. I wish all fans would see this and make sure he stays here but sadly most want to use him as a scapegoat and claim he is incapable. He would run the f**k out of you!
Harry - LCFC Posted 27 December 2014 Posted 27 December 2014 Schlupp is going to be something amazing very very soon. I wish all fans would see this and make sure he stays here but sadly most want to use him as a scapegoat and claim he is incapable. He would run the f**k out of you! One performance proves nothing. It gives us reason to be optimistic about him but that's it.
theessexfox Posted 27 December 2014 Posted 27 December 2014 That nutmeg on the way to winning the free-kick for Riyad to hit the bar oh Jeff
old koppite Posted 28 December 2014 Posted 28 December 2014 Yeah a lot better from him- it was good to see him chasing down and throwing his body in to block .
Saxondale Posted 28 December 2014 Posted 28 December 2014 He was insanely good on Boxing Day. If some overhyped Spurs twat had played like him, the pundits would have ejaculated all over the place, labelled him the next Messi and stuck a £200m value on him.
NotTheMarketLeader Posted 28 December 2014 Posted 28 December 2014 One performance proves nothing. It gives us reason to be optimistic about him but that's it.THIS. I'm was both surprised and pleased to see an improvement. 'One swallow does not make a summer' however!
Babylon Posted 28 December 2014 Posted 28 December 2014 One performance proves nothing. It gives us reason to be optimistic about him but that's it. He does what he did against Spurs quite a lot, powerful, quick, getting past his man... and then ballooning the ball into space. Infuriating player, because he really does have quite a few premier league quality attributes. But the lad is still young and can improve.
