Fa cup coverage

Anyone else disappointed in the BBCs lack of coverage. It's nearly 1pm on the Sunday and still not a live game shown. The one to look forward too.... Arsenal vs Hull :| game tomorrow night is a goodun but expected better. A Saturday lunchtime one is always a winner

To add to that. Match of the day had a second string line up and hardly any highlights. They made a big fuss about fa cup returning to Bbc but i preferred itvs coverage if I'm honest.

MOTD could be broadcast from an outhouse and I'll still prefer it over ITV any day, but I take your point.

In agreement. There's a lot of matches to choose from today and yesterday. Looking forward to Wimbledon v Liverpool on Monday, mind.

Whole weekend of FA Cup football is crap TV-wise.

Why was Blyth vs Birmingham not shown?

Tranmere vs Swansea?

There is actually no use in showing Arsenal vs Hull or Everton vs West Ham.

Very disappointed that they've stretched it out from Friday through to Tuesday too.

Watching the Dover v Palace game at the minute, the palace fans sound good. Showing the all prem clashes is such a waste. I hate how they always talk up the magic of the cup then end up opting for an all prem game instead of something like Blyth v Birmingham. Blyth must have thought they were guaranteed the TV money when they came out of the hat first.

Last 10 years apparently all of Man Utd FA Cup matches have been shown on TV.

Today it's actually justified, it is today they play Yeovil isn't it? In the previous 10 years (bar the last 2), the majority of their ties have probably all been David v Goliaths. :P

I remember a period 3 or 4 years back when United v Villa was almost a guaranteed FA cup tie at some point during the season haha.

Its been poor its annoying that alot of ties are being played on the sunday.

Hopefully once the 3PMs kick off, they'll do the thing where they have pitchside reporters at every game rather than just 5 Live commentary.

The main reason why Blyth wasn't shown was purely down to ratings. BT will not get the viewers as the Everton-West Ham game, which is ridiculous as the latter game is horrible to show on TV.

Also I guess neither broadcaster wanted to take the risk with Blyth-Birmingham turning out like the Dover game did. Within ten minutes the Dover game was essentially over. Palace scored and that was that. Add a second goal five minutes later and there's the game over and done with inside of 20 minutes. Who is interested after that? Now take the risk of the game everyone wanted shown and fingers would've been stung is Birmingham had done similar, it would've become a dud game.

Realise that's all hypothetical considering it was a cracking near-shock but that's why. Disappointed that the BBC have gone for the Arsenal-Hull game though, not convinced the 'repeat of last years' final' is a decent excuse. It's still an upper mid-table PL team v a relegation threatened PL team. Not much interest surely (other than the face Arsenal rates very well.)

It was a horrendous draw in terms of quality and they did gaffe by not choosing Blyth, but they made the gaffe in retrospect more than anything.

Awful commentating pair, these. Dumb and duller.

Said in the other thread though it's still much better than ITV's coverage, even with Jimmy Dullard in the studio.

A game like Blyth though, it isn't just about the match to me. It's a chance in the preview to interview the lads, the people that help out the ground and fans. Drum up a real sense of occasion for the day. It's such a rarity for these little clubs to progress past the qualifying rounds, nevermind to the third round. Such a shame not to take the opportunity to make it a special day for the club.

I see your points though, the suits that make the decisions are going to be going on fan base size, and obviously run the risk of a dud game, like the WBA game.

The TV money for a club like Blyth would go so far, the money united get for todays game will cover about half a weeks wages for Rooney, if that. Shame.

was a good like 15 mins but been right crap since then. so many other games i'd rather they showed than this.

everton/west ham has got to be the worst choice literally ever? i can maybe come to terms with this one, it's last year's final and arsenal are sometimes enjoyable to watch as well as being one of "the big four". everton vs west ham, at goodison on a tuesday night? is that a joke?

And we are forced to pay TV licence. Would rather not pay it and put that money aside for bt sport.

You don't have to pay it if you don't have a TV
