Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 12 January 2015 Posted 12 January 2015 Maybe I'm seeing things (que the you're seeing things post) but looked to me like matty, after going over the ball, made an effort to make proper contact with the blokes shin. Followed through on purpose. someone does that to one of our lads we'd all be saying it and be absolutely outraged

Stevosevic Posted 12 January 2015 Posted 12 January 2015 Disappointing for him on a personal level as he was really looking forward to playing at Old Trafford against Man United
MattyFromLE Posted 12 January 2015 Posted 12 January 2015 Isnt the second image a result of his foot rolling over the top of the ball? Which he won? Hasn't anybody mentioned where Okore's foot is? In that second image it is on Matty James' shin. They both went in hard. Seen 'em given though.
Guest Posted 12 January 2015 Posted 12 January 2015 Disappointing for him on a personal level as he was really looking forward to playing at Old Trafford against Man United Ah well. He'll get a game against em there next season
justfoxes Posted 12 January 2015 Posted 12 January 2015 Both went in studs up after seeing it on the TV replay Matty james was caught by the villa player okore too he stamped on matts calf, if consistency it to prevail then the ref should have sent off the villa lad too as well as Clark and MATTY !! And the fa need to look at the tv replays as a couple of punches were thrown at James by villa staff and players !
canadaukfox Posted 12 January 2015 Posted 12 January 2015 So, if the City players had been the first to react to the 50-50 tackle then the Villa player would've been the one to get the red card ?? In my opinion, the ref would've let it go or possibly a yellow for the one he felt gave away the foul. The reaction of Clark and his mates was the catalyst for the red card. But Villa do have a history of this. Perhaps they need to channel some of that 'passion' into their football.... they might even score an away goal. ...and if James had rolled around on the floor, then probably yes!
foxinsocks Posted 12 January 2015 Posted 12 January 2015 What is the process for evaluating the ref's performance? - IMO he was pretty poor on Saturday - allowing Villa to garner free kicks and not clamping down on villa defenders hugging our forwards. By giving Clarke a second yellow rather than a straight Red he undervalued the seriousness of Clarke's aggressive and unwarranted behaviour. This guy should be off the PL list...so how does this work? What happened to the ref who gave the penalties against us at Liverpool - he had been demoted before - did he get any sanction for ruining a game?
Merging Cultures Posted 13 January 2015 Posted 13 January 2015 Read a few times in here people talking about James' trailing leg taking out the player. I don't think these people know what a trailing leg is. His trailing (secondary) leg is under him. His leading leg is straight, connects with the other player and takes him out. There is a bit of follow through with the leading leg too. I'm not convinced it's a straight red by itself, but I think the reaction together with the tackle warranted it.

It was totally unecessary. Seems like a lot of it was borne out of their frustration at being so poor.
Footballwipe Posted 13 January 2015 Posted 13 January 2015 It's a red, and if it was a tackle against James everyone on here would be screaming that it was the correct decision. Blue tinted specs once again. No, 20 years ago it probably wouldn't have been but today it is. Mostly a shame that he'll miss United, but also that it was committed to late in the game. Let's not forget it was James who gave away the silly foul against Burnley. I love Matty but it seems he can lose his head in the dying moments. He'll learn though, especially if he's missing a game he badly wanted to play in. He's been floating around the pitch making the game seem effortless recently, we're going to miss him.
Oxfordfox83 Posted 13 January 2015 Posted 13 January 2015 Not a red for this simple reason: by the time of the contact James has been in control of the ball for long enough to count as having possession. He controls it with his foot-the ball is his. If James had tackled conventionally (ie poked it away) the ball would have been a metre or so away by the time Okore posted the Tom Daley dating request that was his reaction. Okore failed to touch the ball so it was a foul BY him, and Clark was a clear straight red for the elbow and subsequent thuggery.
alanf0x Posted 13 January 2015 Posted 13 January 2015 Anyone see the young steward next to the tunnel try and get hold of james and just laughed when james had a go back.
dave_the_fox Posted 13 January 2015 Posted 13 January 2015 Anyone see the young steward next to the tunnel try and get hold of james and just laughed when james had a go back. I think someone mentioned it earlier, think he said it was Matthew Lowton, he has gone on my cnutlist
DB11 Posted 13 January 2015 Posted 13 January 2015 I'm not sure whether anyone has already mentioned this, but how can James and Clark both have been sent off? If James got sent off for the tackle on Okore then wouldn't that end that phase of play - meaning that Clark's red card became redundant? Unless the referee is unsure of the rules (which does not look far off from his performance on Saturday), or it is me who is misunderstood, I think he sent James off for his reaction and then later changed his mind. Either way, only one of them should have been sent off, depending on who you deem made the original foul. Let alone unsure or misunderstanding of the rules have you zero involvement in football? That's almost scary that someone can claim to be involved in football, even as a spectator, and be so wildly incorrect
justfoxes Posted 13 January 2015 Posted 13 January 2015 Wonder if Matt Lowton was sanctioned for his comments as James left the pitch. It was totally unecessary. Seems like a lot of it was borne out of their frustration at being so poor. The villa bench didn't need to react like the bunch of morons they are it was a 50/50 ball unfortunately for Matty okore rolled around the pitch like he had broke his leg that got Matty Red carde then he soon had a miraculous recovery after the restart !! Clark was a complete mug for getting involved on the TV replay it looked like he was looking for help and it was just pushing until some other villa morons got involved then the debacle down the tunnel and the villa bench having a go at Matty Ulloa nearly got chinned by some villal tw@ all hell broke loose and the villa handbags came out ! But the fa need to Lok at that video again both at the challenge and the overreaction of the villa bench mind you the fa can't sort out their own problems let alone others !!
nickelbyfox Posted 13 January 2015 Posted 13 January 2015 On this, as James now missed three matches - does this include the FA Cup match or just premier league?
premier blues Posted 13 January 2015 Posted 13 January 2015 Why did Clark run over to James after he recieved his second yellow ? Because this action was the reason for all of the handbags in the tech area. So he and he alone should be hammered for this by the FA.
_Fatboyslow_ Posted 13 January 2015 Posted 13 January 2015 What actually happened in the tunnel? And why is nothing being said about the way Clark put James back down on the turf?
StanSP Posted 13 January 2015 Posted 13 January 2015 On this, as James now missed three matches - does this include the FA Cup match or just premier league? FA Cup included.
