Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 11 January 2015 Posted 11 January 2015 The intent is there. Once he's gone over the ball he's left his foot in, the villa lad has stamped on him at the same time, equally a red. Clark. A cvnt.

A cvnt. How can he possibly get his foot 'out'? It's the momentum of a tackle - yeah he goes over the ball but the contact with the ball has been made first and that's the real intent. It's just vastly unfortunate he's gone over the ball and taken out Okore. It probably is a red and Clark's reaction doesn't help one bit, but I genuinely don't think there was intent there to hurt the man.
Webbo Posted 11 January 2015 Posted 11 January 2015 Works for a Bolton newspaper. Judging by his style of writing and his articles, he either has a funny definition of "journalism" or people in Bolton couldn't care less. I think the #oneeyed might be a clue that he wasn't 100% serious.
MC Prussian Posted 11 January 2015 Posted 11 January 2015 I think the #oneeyed might be a clue that he wasn't 100% serious. I was referring to some of his other articles that he's published over the course of the past few months.
st albans fox Posted 11 January 2015 Posted 11 January 2015 He is unlucky - no malice intended. I think without the reaction, it's a yellow. End of. We won't appeal.

U can tell from his commitment in the entire passage of play that he just wants that effing ball. The ref sees that at normal speed, and in todays namby pamby PL, a red is de rigueur. Not helped by Okore rolling around like a pu$$y and the cvnt that is Clarke.
ian_marshall Posted 11 January 2015 Posted 11 January 2015 Clark definitely should have got a straight red for the afters. Unbelievably poor decision by the ref.
filbertway Posted 11 January 2015 Posted 11 January 2015 He took a risk going for it, but in the heat of the moment, his only concern would have been get something on the ball and stop them breaking at us. Unfortunately he caught the top half of the ball and his studs have rolled over so the ref is within his right to get the red out. Clark's was probably just a heat of the moment reaction, annoyed that his side have looked so limp and then seeing his team mate take a set of studs to the shin he's rushed in, if it was the other way round and Was had done it, you can bet 99% of the forum would be saying "nice one Was!" Both red cards were merited. Let's just hope we have 2 fit CM's for Stoke! Reading that back. Una, Scouse, Loveday, I think that second paragraph could be tinder worthy. You have my blessing.
jammie82uk Posted 11 January 2015 Posted 11 January 2015 Clark definitely should have got a straight red for the afters. Unbelievably poor decision by the ref. It seems like the ref has not taken any of the aftermath into consideration the red is for the tackle which is harsh in my opinion didn't think it was live and still don't after replays, clarks yellow is for the collision and seemingly nothing for picking up a player and lifting them off their feet going head to head, Wonder if the fa will get involved in it especially considering what happened when Clark chased matty of the pitch
Raj Posted 11 January 2015 Posted 11 January 2015 When it was kicking off in.the tunnel the ref just stood there like a kid not wanting to get involved.Surely its his job to?
Hirsty The Blue 94 Posted 11 January 2015 Posted 11 January 2015 Can see why the red was given, James did get the ball but rolled over the top of it and took their centre half's shins. Clark should have been given a straight red for the forearm to the face of James though. Good to see all our players dive in to support James when he was going to get a battering, shows the togetherness of the squad which is great.
Zapp Posted 11 January 2015 Posted 11 January 2015 The ref took the easy option. Clark is lucky he had already been booked. Whether he got sent off on the day or charged afterwards he would be missing 3 games if it wasn't for the 2nd yellow. Quite frankly okores attempt to get the ball was FAR more dangerous and Matty is fortunate he wasn't a split second faster otherwise he could be out for the season. The FA will ignore that though.

Nah, if you see even in every scuffle on the pitch these days referees are warned not to get involved - I presume one reason they take a back seat is to see who's doing what and see who's behaving the naughtiest. Let's not be silly now. It's not 'far more dangerous'. It was less reckless but still had potential to do damage.
narboroughblue Posted 11 January 2015 Posted 11 January 2015 Okore reaction didn't help, he was as hurt as James was for the studs in his shin but James gets up and Okore stays down hence ref punishment. Play acting like that putting refs in difficult positions.
Robin JD Popley Posted 11 January 2015 Posted 11 January 2015 From my view in A2 we all looked at it pretty much straight on (diagonally turning our heads) and I thought Matty got the ball first then his trailing leg went in and caught the man. Don't get me wrong, we all know the dangers going in two footed can lead to but I have seen worse challenges get lesser punishment. Still think we may appeal the decision if Nigel takes a similar view to me (which I think he may have done at the time). The afters though was not a great sight to see but I still think Clark should have gone for a straight red. Really don't like his attitude at all. As I have said on the post match thread, though, the referee was appalling - fully deserved his chorus of boos upon leaving the field and I think he got the message!
General Smuts Posted 11 January 2015 Posted 11 January 2015 If Nugent wasn't so thick giving the ball away it'd never have happened. Agreed, he's been the weak link in our team all season. I've never seen him play but already know that Kramaric would have had at least 2 yesterday were he in Nugents position.

Dan Posted 11 January 2015 Posted 11 January 2015 Joke decision which proves that you aren't allowed to slide tackle. Said it many a time but I'm convinced you could watch any slide tackle now and you'll have some claiming for a red card.

I must say, Sanchez in the first half and Okore with Matty's red could both be nominated for Oscars. Fantastic acting!

Dan Posted 11 January 2015 Posted 11 January 2015 Okore can get ****ed as well. Spent the entire game fouling Ulloa and got away with it. Wholeheartedly agree Dan; much of the basis for what I wrote above. I must say, Sanchez in the first half and Okore with Matty's red could both be nominated for Oscars. Fantastic acting! Sanchez might as well have brought juggling balls. He had the clown haircut and clown performance.
