RedSoxUK Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 I dont think its silly, he broke up the play and stopped a possible counter...he didnt mean to get a red it was a strong challenge..it was what was needed so cant be called silly. We had plenty behind the ball.. It's silly to make a challenge like that so late in the game.
Foxhateram Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Really don't think it's a red card. Besides he got red for the afters, but Westwood leads with his elbow into Matty's back. It should have been a straight red for him too if your going to play the professionalism/ sportsmanship card. Typical unbalanced refereeing, the standards this year have been terrible. Kingy will have to run the midfield on his own next week.
Len Finsbury Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 I don't think we'll appeal against the red as even we can't decide on here. Any panel will back the referee when it's a bit 'wooly'
Callabinho Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 It's a wank decision, they threw themselves over like performing arts students all day, and that was no different.
narboroughblue Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Soft but it is probable right unfortunately. IMO our best centre mid now out for 3 games. At least one is in the cup.
Jacnah Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 When the camera panned out to show the full grapple with all the players I was confused to why i couldn't see big Was getting involved. It was only when I saw the replay in slow motion that I realised he had jumped in so early he was throttling a player before James had even stop sliding! brilliant....really put a smile on my face
yorkie1999 Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 The important thing is it disrupted the game when villa were pumping balls forward.
Sunbury Fox Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Okore was the biggest cheating **** for the whole game. He basically fell over every time one of our players was within 5 yards of him and the ref fell for it every time. At least on this occasion he went down with some justification! Was too far away in SK4 to give a definitive view but it seemed like a cracking tackle to me. Either way it stopped them from breaking dangerously on us.
Raj Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Didn't think.it was a red at the game but them pics prove ref was right Im afraid. Foot was.over the ball...thats a no no nowadays
foxinsox Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 It looked to me a straight red for the afters. It looked to me James raised his hands to the other guys neck.
sdb Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Hard to tell. Different feeling depending on the camera angle. Can't see it getting over turned though, which is a blow.
ealingfox Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 All the things in that sequence add up to a red each for me. The tackles not a red. Okore bottles it and James takes the ball full-blooded. The Villa players buy the rest of the red there with their reaction. Really is depressing how Sky, punditry and the media have changed the game more than tweaks to the offical Laws of the Game have though. All this 'in this day and age' and 'entitled' to do this and that are purely their creations.
BoyJones Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Being old school, thought in real time it was a harsh decision. Still think a yellow at worst. Their player wasn't really hurt, but reacted poorly. James is not a dirty player and it is a genuine attempt to win the ball. In this day and age, tackling is frowned upon, so refs give out loads more reds these days. Considering some of the fouls the ref let go, thought it was an inconsistent decision on the day, but clearly the referee likes to be centre stage. IMO, the worst referee in the premier league.
Ashley Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Red. You can't tackle like that today. Good tackle but it's a red.
katieakita Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Just looked at it surprised Okore didn't get shown a red for his challenge, feet off ground goes over top on James' right knee.
Narborough_fox Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 I don't get how Clark was only sent off for a second yellow. The fracas looked like a red for both.
Bamba's Babes Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Cheers, Nugent. Another showcase of his football intelligence.
theessexfox Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 That's awful, he touches the ball and then yeah the follow through is a bit high (from momentum) but he barely flicks their guys shin, and then how has Clark only got a yellow for headbutting him??!? And someone maybe their left-back on Knockaert or Hutton on someone first half made a challenge where I had no idea how it wasn't a yellow. Majority of decisions went against us today. I want to see Was' part in the brawl
theessexfox Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Cheers, Nugent. Another showcase of his football intelligence. From what I recall it was a heavy touch which gave their defender a chance to nick it, unsure where brains comes into that.
Ozwin Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 I reckon he'd probably have been booked for it and the aftermath basically cemented it as a red if there was any doubt in the refs mind.
iamafox Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 From what I saw, it looked like a good tackle. James won the ball cleanly and only a shit referee would give a red card for that.
StanSP Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 I don't think it was that much of a red? Looks like I'm in the minority though - Michael Oliver didn't blow his whistle til Clark careered in to James elbow-first. If anything it's Clark's reaction which kicks it all off. Flying in with his elbow - disgraceful.
chris_lcfc_85 Posted 10 January 2015 Posted 10 January 2015 Nice to see one of our centre mids getting stuck in! Some passion in the lad
