Electricity Sports 1960 Posted 17 January 2015 Posted 17 January 2015 When Leicester City's new Croatian signing Andrej Kramaric arrived at the training ground on his first day, manager Nigel Pearson arranged a team meeting. Person produced a white board and on it he drew a circle and said, quite distinctly "BALL". Then he drew a criss-cross pattern and said "NET". Then he said "BALL in NET". One of the the current Leicester strikers said "Hang on boss, Anrej's English is not that bad" His fellow strikers muttered in agreement. Pearson said "I'm not talking to him, I'm talking to you lot".
Harry - LCFC Posted 18 January 2015 Posted 18 January 2015 What I'm saying is people who saw a magnificent player who's 'Chelsea quality' in those twenty minutes, saw what they wanted to see, not what was actually happening Spot on. A lot of people had assessed his performance before he'd even come on the pitch. There was very little to comment on as he was so uninvolved. The only thing I learnt about him from the game was that he wants to play on the ground and probably isn't someone who's going to throw himself about.
Dickov22 Posted 18 January 2015 Posted 18 January 2015 I must have missed that. You think Waghorn's good though
eunmac Posted 18 January 2015 Posted 18 January 2015 I think he made a great start. Should have come on 5-10 mins sooner. Could have had a penalty, if the ref was paying any attention to Wilson using two arms to wrestle him down in the box.
Guest bss9401 Posted 18 January 2015 Posted 18 January 2015 kramaric is quality. I am delighted that he is here. A problem was that by the time he came on today we had run out of steam. We need to provide him with the service to get the goals. With that comes extra attention from defenders which in turn will give others space to contribute and score themselves. Age old principle really but Kramaric can improve us.
weller54 Posted 18 January 2015 Posted 18 January 2015 I don't think this will happen with Krama. Even if you are in a relegation dogfight going into the last 2 rounds and certain players start dropping their heads and losing heart, he is now in the national team fold and needs to be at his best to retain that second strikers role alongside Mandzukic. The only issue I see for Leicester is whether your rather average midfield is capable of providing the service he needs. You lot do that, and he will bang them in. And you will probably stay up. Agreed about our midfield.. Nowhere near strong enough in depth.. Drinkwater hasn't made the step up, he's a championship standard player, James the same!.. Costa would struggle to score goals in our team!... Feel sorry for Kramaric, but least he's only got to suffer this for another 17 games or so, then he can go on to play for a proper premiership side... Bournemouth perhaps?
Lionheart Posted 18 January 2015 Posted 18 January 2015 I felt if Marc came on instead if Tom, he could have got some decent balls. No disrespect to Tom but I don't feel he is the answer to a 1 goal down game. Spot on,it was a strange decision.
st albans fox Posted 18 January 2015 Posted 18 January 2015 He took up some decent positions but we lacked an capability to play a decent pass to him. The midfield were too tired to bring the ball far enough forward and our defence are not capable of playing a good long ball. it will be different if we can get EC back in the side and when mahrez gets back. Then we have players who can see a pass and, more importantly, play one. I suspect Maloney was also seen in this respect. Also, having a player like him will mean the opposition making tactical changes to try and deal with him. At the moment, they just don't care about us as individuals. No need to now that mahrez is away. Yesterday, as an example, stoke left 2 up when we had a corner. Clearly they had done their homework. When we get a corner, we are at our most vulnerable. Incapable of doing anything with it in at attacking sense and short shielding the back four. if he as good as we are told, other sides will have to think about making plans for him. Like we should have done for bojan (but lacked the numbers to do so) All in all, I saw enough to make me think the kid has something about him that I don't see in our current strikers. let's see how he does down the lane with a start.
Katy Posted 18 January 2015 Posted 18 January 2015 Certainly not going to judge the guy until after he's played and started a few games. I remember Neil Lennon's debut when he played against Derby? He was dreadful and then went on to be one our best players.
AspectFox Posted 18 January 2015 Posted 18 January 2015 I love the summaries of some on here. 25 minutes and the kid is Balloon D'or material!
Collymore Posted 18 January 2015 Posted 18 January 2015 Only Pearson could produce an anticlimax of yesterday's scale. What should have been one of the most iconic memorable events in Leicester's history, with a wonderkid making his debut, turned into a event less exciting than watching potatoes grow. I hate to say it but I think pearson's arrogance and ego got in the way "I'll show everyone that I'm in charge and spoil everyone's day" I'm not criticising nige though. His faults make him who he is, along with all of his many strengths. I still love you Nigel.

Not start Kramaric (which was never going to happen given the amount of recent game time he's had)? I don't get you. The think that spoiled everyone's day was the fact we lost.
justfoxes Posted 18 January 2015 Posted 18 January 2015 Not a patch on nugent LMFAO !! Not a patch on nugent LMFAO !!
DennisNedry Posted 18 January 2015 Posted 18 January 2015 Kramaric should have been brought on at half time. The game was finely balanced, could have gone either way, we were still in with a chance of making something. As soon as Stoke went ahead and shut up shop we never had a chance to break them down and provide Kramaric with an opening.
cityfanlee23 Posted 18 January 2015 Posted 18 January 2015 What did he do wrong? Not start Kramaric (which was never going to happen given the amount of recent game time he's had)? I don't get you. The think that spoiled everyone's day was the fact we lost. Not starting kramaric in hindsight is a mistake, The fitness stuff is absolute bull, 2 weeks without playing and he needs match fitness? get real people... Defoe played 75 mins after 3 months without a full game, and looked lively. Kram would have been in the gym daily and has been training at the ground before he was given his permit, He should have started when the fans were loud and the team was actually attacking, not when we are showing absolutely no confidence in a silent stadium 1-0 down. He's not got 2 defenders in yet, and doesn't look like he's going too. He's consistently made stupid sunday league errors all season for example taking off albrighton and putting on ulloa, the only player who can cross a ball effectively replaced by the only player who can head a ball, but gets no crosses.. The midfield is lost every week, We havent been able to attack or defend set pieces for 6 years, all of these issues are no surprise to any of us. so why the hell in the most important season in the clubs history with the gap between the prem and championship so high, and finances so great, are we pissing about making the same mistakes consistently.
Hirsty The Blue 94 Posted 18 January 2015 Posted 18 January 2015 I'm not knocking him, I don't think anyone can make a fair judgement on 25 minutes of football when we were playing shit and he barely touched the ball. What I'm saying is people who saw a magnificent player who's 'Chelsea quality' in those twenty minutes, saw what they wanted to see, not what was actually happening, which was our new signing not really having a chance to do anything, and looking fairly competent on the few occasions he got the ball. Spot on Mark. People see what they wanted to see from him. It's the same for every player. People see Konchesky play a bad ball and he is rubbish, useless, shite etc. Simpson plays a bad ball and it's ignored.

Not going to argue with the last two paragraphs. However, being fit (quite rightly Kramaric would have been training and in the gym etc as you say) is different to being match fit. The bigger disappointed for me was Ulloa on the bench. As for Sunderland, they are obviously in a different situation even Poyet said post match he wanted to give Defoe an hour not 75 minutes.
Matt Posted 18 January 2015 Posted 18 January 2015 What did he do wrong? Not start Kramaric (which was never going to happen given the amount of recent game time he's had)? I don't get you. The think that spoiled everyone's day was the fact we lost. Exactly that. He'd certainly have eased into the game better than he did coming on when we were desperate and 1-0 down. I expect he'd have offered much more threat that bleeding Nugent and Vardy, a half fit player who's not played a game for 2 years would be more threat than those two chumps. People said starting Kramaric would be 'throwing him in at the deep end' no, I think bringing him on when we were desperate, chasing a game, 1-0 down and looking devoid of any ideas was 'throwing him in at the deep end'.

Agree, but it's only 2 weeks mate, He got 30 minutes, I'm sure he could have gone 45 and started, As I said though, Hindsight is wonderful!
foxes_rule1978 Posted 18 January 2015 Posted 18 January 2015 looked lightweight but showed quick feet, and was good off the ball... good to see the ball did stick to him when ever it came to him even the awkward balls
JP the Fox Posted 18 January 2015 Posted 18 January 2015 Quick quick lets knock our new record signing just to be cool and outspoken. Nail on head sir

I was just gonna post this. Defoe plays from the start and gets an assist. Comes off when he/manager feels he's flagging. Impact. Kramaric comes on when we're 1-0 down and the team is flagging... and makes no impact. (Bearing in mind we had a few semi-decent goes in the first half (Knockeart I'm looking at you)( that should be Kram's bread and butter... Hind sight; such a wonderful invention!
cityfanlee23 Posted 18 January 2015 Posted 18 January 2015 fook me Im gonna frame this!!! !! Bit early for that atleast take me on a date first
Number 6 Posted 18 January 2015 Posted 18 January 2015 Not much to judge on as we were generally awful for his spell. We did see to nice movement though and I hope we have players who are alive to the passes that need to be fed to him. Was also buoyed to see him actually look to get half a yard and have a shot. We don't have enough players willing to do that. Edit: also looked like Ulloa was looking for flick ons to him. Maybe it was just me but there seemed to be a flicker of same wavelength going on. We need these 2 to get lots of game time together.
